What are your complaints? What would you do differently? *SPOILERS*

Did you miss...I don't know...the ENTIRE third act? They setup multiple things in the film that should address that very question. Clark joining the Daily Bugle will cover the media and Superman aspect, the unsure relationship he has with the military, the fact that Kryptonians killed and tried to take Earth as their own which will cause some people of Earth to distrust Superman just based on him being of the same alien race, the huge amount of destruction caused from him stopping the invasion, and of course the tease of Lex Luthor. It is pretty obvious they will show us how Superman's reveal to Earth impacts them.

So what you're saying is that the impact of superman's reveal to the world didn't happen in the movie but will - we speculate - in the sequel.

Not only I wanted to have it in this movie but also to have a reason to call him "Superman." Which can't be done properly when you first introduce to the world a bunch of Kryptonians. Where's the reason to call this man "Superman" when you knew a bunch of them and the only one who wasn't all over the media was, precisely, Superman?

Also Superman's suit was just perfect fitted and waiting for him thousands of years before he landed on Earth. What?

Ha ha! I didn't even think of that! Oh wow, that's a major plot hole.

I think it (or the info for it) all came from that little USB key with the spirit/force ghost of JorEl...so it was kind of made on the spot.

It's Kryptonian spandex.

I would've liked the Kryptonians to speak Kryptonese in the movie. Jor-El should've kicked a little less ass. The guy who body checked Clark on the ship to "save" him from the falling cage, shouldn't have been able to push Clark out of the way.

Minor gripes from me.

I read this in the artbook

"Pods contain kryptonian skinsuits, ready for use by the ship's crew."

So I'm pretty sure the ship stored numerous suits for the many crew members, some being from the house of el.

Does anyone feel bothered to why Fiora wanted Lois Lane to accompany her and Kal El onto the ship ? I'm assuming that Zod was aware of Lois's knowledge of Clark from the news broacasts but does anyone have some ideas? For some reason it's bugging me.

Kyptonians are breed for specific roles.
Scientists will be the best scientists possible.
Plumbers will be the best plumbers possible.
And so on, Right?

So how does Jor-EL hold his own against Zod?

1.Well first and foremost I did not like the edit of MOS, it seemed scattered as if someone had a remote control and pressed the skip button. When I just getting into the tone of the movie..it suddenly fasts forward.
2. I will give at least 50% film dedicated to better character building including supporting roles, the chemistry between superman/clark with lois, perry, pa kent, martha all seemed rushed.
3. I know Pa Kent was trying to tell clark he really needs to keeps his powers a secret. But with all the flash backs of him saving friends, kids, strangers..or just a few miniutes before we see him argue with Pa Kent.. showing this Clark can be rebelious. Why not save Pa Kent..he saved so many people before him..his dad is about to be kill by a tornado just over a dog...is really worth letting him die?
4. More screen time Pa Kent, Martha, clark and louis..transition him going from clark to superman.
5. I missed the major build up from the score when he first becomes superman or he saves someone...it should be celebrated..superman is king..but in this movie he looked like any ordinary hero. in number II there better be a dramatic revealing of the "S" then saves somone(louis)
5. For Superman to have the trust of the people..he must show us he cares..not let a whole city destruct...half the movie everything explodes..superman thinks it fireworks..how many casualties..if he doesnt want to protect us..well go to another planet to fight your battles!
6. Where was the grace or artistry in Superman..no floating or technique..it was all flash/boom..with his powers he needs better control..when to go fast and when to float like a feather.
7. I really enjoyed the last scene..superman looks like a good clark kent..so why in MOS leave right to the end...
8. I want someone like Zemekis/cameron directing with maybe spielberg as producer..because these are tried and tested they know how to make a great visual action flick without the sacrafice or character development and story telling.
I enjoyed MOS..shame because it had so much potential to be as good as Superman during the 70's..the positive is it was not to bad..and I can see a excellent sequel if they fix these glaring errors!

Because poor writing provides Jor El with the skills he needs to hold his own against a General and the Defender of Krypton.

Anyway we all know that a wee scientist from Slough can hold his own in hand to hand combat with a fully trained S.A.S commando. No?

Suppose Kal El who's ultimately a farm boy can snap the same guys neck like a trained assassin as well.. Thats after 45mins of flying through buildings killing random members of the public. Either the Kryptonian army are as well trained as the Boy Brigade or there is some under par writing going on here? Or the Codex just isn't particularly good at what it's supposed to do? Maybe they should trade it in for a new one?

Man of Steel's sequel plot. Kal-El traverses the twenty eight known galaxies looking for the designer of the codex in order to request a refund.

Did any body else hate the shaky camera thing? I just really disliked this about the movie. I wish it is not in the sequel.

It only bothered me a little on krypton early but eventually I adapted.

No because Zod clearly wanted every piece of information he could get on Kal El and Lois was clearly close to him. I really think Zod might have made the decision for Faora to bring Lois on the ship the moment they were landing and he saw them together.

2nd viewing. Realized Jor-El basically kicked Zod's ass. That doesn't seem right considering Zod is a general.

Zod watches CNN.

But Jor El is clearly not a man who only does what's in his genetics, what's to say he hasn't trained? Or even trained with Zod in the past? He might know all his moves.

You know...I've watched and read and loved comic book media all my life. Grew up on the big 3 - Spider-man, Superman, and Batman.

There are many versions of those heroes out there. Batman has every type of iteration imaginable, everything from campy Adam West Batman to the serious, dark Nolan Batman, and everything in between that. And seriously, I like them all in their own way.

Same with Spidey. Watched the old Spider-man cartoons growing up, watched Spidey and his Amazing Friends with Iceman and Firestar, liked the Sam Raimi films (except 3) and tASM as well. Not perfect films, but overall no big complaints. All different versions of Spidey, but still liked them in their own way.

But Superman....

Supes is different. And I'm not just saying it to be saying it. SUPERMAN IS DIFFERENT. The godlike, larger than life hero...truth, justice and the American way. There's something more to Superman than just his powers, his abilities. Superman is like baseball and apple pie, he's a cultural icon, he's a symbol. The stakes are bigger than just beating up aliens. Superman is about striving for greater. Maybe I'm stupid and nostalgic, but I think that's what MOS was missing. It was jaw-dropping, awesome, and a spectacle, and honestly the story telling wasn't bad either. But it wasn't full of heart and soul. It wasn't inspirational, hopeful, full of Americana. It didn't feel triumphant. It was just an action movie.

Maybe it was the music, which was good, but not John Williams. I didn't feel the majesty. Everything was heavy, dark, serious, and though Superman can definitely go into those darker territories, there is always something that speaks to the inner believer in us all. Hope. Goodness.

So, yes it had all the stuff people were begging for since "Returns", the complete destructive action and over the top fight scenes, but the MOS didn't "feel" like Superman.

Agreed. I think that was the problem. There were a lot of things to like in the film, primarily the action but the overall tone was just too melancholy. The final scene gives me hope for the sequel.

All that would of been pointless to me. I liked the scene and Clark making a huge sacrifice. There was some resolution to that. So yeah it could of been written differently , but I have to agree to disagree on this one.

I would of changed certain aspects of the ending. It was strange to see them skip right over the aftermath of Metropolis being in ruins. Also certain things don't make sense to me. It was nice to see Lois embrace Superman after he killed Zod , but how did she get there so fast? Also Superman's suit was just perfect fitted and waiting for him thousands of years before he landed on Earth. What?

The intro of him wearing the suit could of been done a little better.

I agree. I would also the time jump with him getting the job doesn't really make sense unless they were pulling a move from the ending of Borne Supremacy. Skipping forward in time then in the next going back and showing what lead up that moment. Otherwise it just comes off as ignoring the destruction. It's equivalent to the end of Begins if we just skip ahead and his house is completely rebuilt...it would've seemed odd. On the other hand we even had him living in the city in the 2nd film because the house was being rebuilt. That's appropriate follow through.

Thematically it doesn't work. The whole point is Kryptonians are breed to be a specific class. Farmers will only be farmers and so on, therefore it is a planet without choice and Kal-El is unique because he can be anything thing he chooses. Therefore a scientist born and breed should never be able to best a warrior born and breed. Jor-El holding his own against a warrior and not only a warrior but the GENERAL makes NO SENSE. That be would like someone who was a doctor all his life holding his own with Jet Li in a fight.
But you go with it because what else can you do.

Can you argue the final scene with Clark Kent at the planet is months or even a year later (Hence the lack of focus on the dead of Metropolis)?

And I personally think that would have given the Zod character more weight, watching him beat down and kill a helpless scientist (Jor-El) would have highlighted the evil of his character and underscored how he was truly programmed. But I think the writer didn't want Zod to come off that evil in the film, although for me it would have made his character better.

An indication would be nice or like I said if they use the ending of Bourne Supremacy as a model and go back and show how we got to that point. And trust me a few months is not enough to rebuild a huge portion of a city. Not even close. How long did it take them to just CLEAN UP the twin towers in New York? Months! That's two buildings not hundreds as presented in this film. And that's just clean up not new construction to replace those buildings. so yeah the time jump is jarring. Just like if Begins ended with Bruce in rebuilt mansion with an explanation.

Yeah I think Metropolis is already back to a semblance of normalcy. They are still rebuilding, but life has clearly moved on.
