What are your Gripes/Concerns with the project?

Hey everyone 1st Post, been reading the boards since the dragonball forum went up, really loved it so i thought i'd register, as i love DB,

The things that bother me with this film is that it's gonna be too watered down, the original manga world of DB is too off the wall, and no-one other than a true fan would get it, thus the reason why we get,

Goku going to school - I don't remember that ever happening ?

Pointless characters - such as Teto/Weaver whatever his name is, Emi ?

Krillin - what no Krillin' , he was one of the first characters to ever appear on the show, and went through to the end! i don't think u could introduce him in a sequel cos it just wouldn't work if he isan't in this one.

Also where are some official pics of people we actually know from the series,
i don't want to see 2 grinning idiots in a classroom :csad:

Anyways my little rant done,

Nice.1 :cwink:

welcome to the hype, cell and great first post! i pretty much agree with everything you said.

I don't have any concerns, this movie looks great.

This movie is going to suck harder than "Transformers."

One word: script. Not sure; it could go either way.

The script will be just as bad as the show. I mean seriously i love the show but it has tons of tons of filler stuff and lots of plot holes. At times things wouldn't make sense at all.

Heh, I agree with you on that.

hi everyone! first post here :woot: im pretty confident the movie is gonna rock except for one thing, and the most important one for me. goku

im not saying chatwin is good or bad for it, i havent even seen him acting, i simply cant imagine any person being able to make me feel like im watching the goku we know from the anime, regardles of the looks, i cant imagine someone portraying his personality, especially if the actor isnt a fan of the show, like chatwin
i really hope im very mistaken about this though and chatwin shuts me up badly
the rest of the movie will be great, the highschool sh-t wont last more than 10 minutes so im ok with that

Welcome to the Hype! :yay:

Yes I had my doubts about Chatwin at first. But once I watched The Invisible I was assured that this actor has potential. Will he faithfully portray Goku? Thats a question that many are asking, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt just because I've seen that he has potential.

Here are a couple of clips of Chatwin's acting abilities.

Well, I guess it's better that a lot of people here are skeptical than overly-hyped. Hype = disappointment, while skepticism = pleasant surprise. At least, that's what's likely.

you always shed a positive light on things. that's rare to find! i agree with you. i think the movie will be fine.

Well i hope your right.

Cos i really would really would love to see a good adaptation of DB,

Plus my missus might even get into it.

welcome to the hype Cell!

i feel the same as you as far as Krillin not being in this one and the dumb pic of two unimportant characters. If they put Krillin in a sequel, he'll look like some second rate character. he is very important to the series and i feel that it was a huge mistake by Fox. I still think the movie has a chance of being pretty good. I love DB so much and would hate to see it fail. only time will tell but like i said before, i think it will do fine!

My primary concern about how this movie will eventually end up coming out is the track records of the production crew assembled. James Wong has quite a few ridiculous movies to his credit (the highest rating in his filmography on Rottentomatoes is a 65% for the movie Willard, in whose creation he participated only as a producer). Jamie Chung has a reputation—if one is to presume her noteworthy enough even to have a reputation—based more on her having been on an MTV reality show than on her acting ability. Brian Tyler's music is basically functional and technically correct, but nothing that he's written really stands out to me as unusual or interesting; he uses mostly straightforward voice leadings and harmonies, nothing like the sorts of gymnastics someone like John Williams, or other technically-skilled composers in film such as Elliot Goldenthal or Don Davis, can pull off. His orchestral colors also sound a little blocky to me. I don't know, but the premonitions I've been getting about Dragonball have "b-movie" written all over them. I'd like to think Stephen Chow has more of an idea of what he's doing and that he'll make sure everything will be in proper working order by the time the film is released, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I do agree that this is unforgivable. Regardless of how good the film is, it makes no sense and is completely illogical to use two conjured characters in favor of the canonized Krillin.

My only concern with this movie is that it won't have enough exciting and well done action sequences.

I don't want this to be another fantastic four which also had a 100 million budget.

If this film is the equivalent to FF, we'll be getting a sequel. I think a lot of people are hoping it match FF's critical and fiscal outputs.

that kind of logical thinking isn't welcomed around these boards! either like what they're doing or suffer the wrath of a bunch of dbz fans criticizing you for being critical!

btw, welcome to the hype! :D

calm down Dorky....it's okay to have an opposing opinion. let's atleast wait till we see a trailer before you start shedding some negative light on everything

you're still welcomed to this site Humpty. no worries!
