What can DC/WB do now to move forward? Is there hope?

I guarantee you if the DCEU was in the same shoes as the MCU right now, DC fans wouldn't be complaining about how "campy" things are.

Were the DCEU in the same place as the MCU, a good deal of those who prefer the supposed "bolder, more adult take" on superheroes would be singing the praises of this supposed "formulaic, campy" approach.

Yep, 'cos Hiddleston's Loki is the definition of 'butch'... :woot:

I don't understand?

Again, it seems a lot of people don't know the definition of "campy".

Until Captain America is riding a shark with an obviously fake background, there's nothing campy about the MCCU.

Tell me if any of the MCU movies did something this ridiculous, and then we'll talk campy.

In the sense that Marvel were not campy, FM....

I'm just curious, if you take the DC character skins off in BvS and Suicide Squad, would you still think these are good movies? Or do you only like them because you get to see the characters you read come to life on the big screen?

Yes, I'd still like them if you had Character A v Character B : Dawn of Something or Other.

12 inches?
If you mean the symbol by the number 12 on the cover, that's for cents.

as in 12 inch single - Superman singing, release a record. Appreciate you kids have downloads these days and wouldn't know vinyl :woot:

I would believe me. When I heard that DC was looking to go lighter with more humor I was wicked bummed out. I'd give one movie a chance. If they go campy( I do know what campy means) I just won't see the movies in the future.

I think the decision making from WB/DC has been braver than that of Marvel to date.

People keep saying that and I'm not sure what exactly that even means. "Brave" in what way? The way they killed Superman and then made it immediately clear at the end it wasn't actually gonna stick?

Maybe he means it takes a lot of huevos to hire Snyder to do a movie and even more to keep him on???

Honestly, if they could get rid of him (and I did like Watchmen), they'd be better off. BvS wasn't bad IMO, but it could have been SO much better.

Snyder just isn't the guy to herald a cinematic comic book universe. His capabilities aren't up to par.

I myself wasn't a comic reader. So I'm not upset at Batman killing people. I did know he had this no kill rule but I thought they spelled out why he changed pretty clearly and honestly I think his no kill rule is just dumb if you're trying to make it somewhat believavle( superhero movie I know it's tough).
But at least as far as that character goes, he's the one guy without powers and he what has to be perfect on every shot or batarang while getting attacked from multiple people?
To make him believable at all , the dude is gonna kill people , unless you just never put him in that situation ,which I think would be lame.

Batman has been one of the biggest icons and has been loved by many for a very long time with his "dumb" no-kill rule. It couldn't have been that bad. He doesn't need people like Snyder trying to make him more "believable" by reducing the character to a killer. Batman was doing just fine before Snyder got his hands on him.

Luke, if you knew what campy was, you'd be criticizing Lex Luthor in BvS for his cartoonish campy performance.

I take campy to be tongue and cheek or self satire stuff. Maybe I got the definitions wrong. I'm not throwing shots. Marvel has been and willl con tinue to be a huge success
If people think they are not tongue in cheek or self satirical then we just disagree.

I didn't find theLex character to be those things. But if others did that stinks. Sorry

*sigh*
Someone should start a joke counter for MCU movies and shows in general.

And tell me if wanting to have lunch after the end of a mission a character nearly died in counts as self satire or a joke.

People round here seriously need to get the notion some people may or may not like the same things as them, and that it's okay to do so.

Different opinions, we get it.
We're trying to reach a conclusion on what defines 'campy' for both ends of the argument.

I can understand why someone would like BvS better than most, or maybe all, Marvel movies (though I don't share that opinion). What I don't understand is the idea that ALL DC movies are better than ALL MCU movies.

I liked BvS fine, but to say that Green Lantern was better than All MCU movies strikes me as a personal bias. By that I mean I don't believe someone is really rating the movie itself; they are rating the studio that produced it.

I can't take that sort of opinion seriously.
