What can DC/WB do now to move forward? Is there hope?

Different opinions, we get it.
We're trying to reach a conclusion on what defines 'campy' for both ends of the argument.

A general observation of the last few pages Spider , not primarily aimed at the 'campy' debate or what you said specifically.

Right. Different strokes for different folks. I take campy to be tongue in cheek or self satire. That's not the same as saying the movie is crap. I think the old superman movies are campy and enjoyed them as kids but I like more serious movies now. I'm a person who doesn't go to the theatre to see comedies. I have some favorites but it's just not my fave genre and life is insanely busy.
I'm not calling marvel comedies but just somewhat satirical and tongue in cheek. If the word campy doesn't describe these things then my bad everyone.
If you don't think they are tongue and cheek and self satirical we just disagree.
What I can't figure out is why so many marvel fans spend time bashing DC in forums when it seems it would be so much more fun talking about all the good of movies you DO enjoy.
I just don't get why people can't respect other's opinions.
I was spoiled by a person over 40 who told the death at the end of BVS before I saw it and left with arms raised saying " marvel rules!"
Granted this is an extreme case of *****iness but I cannot express a positive opinion of MOS or BVS anywhere without marvel fans getting almost angry at me.

There are plenty of ignorant, annoying people who are, well, turds. I could care less what you do or don't like (and I don't mean that in a bad way) and would never spoil a movie for anyone.

EDIT: I'm generally not that big on comedies and don't see MCU movies as comedies. There are moments of humor which I appreciate, but more often than not, the tone is serious. GotG being an exception....which I appreciated as a change. I could handle it with Spidey also, but not some other characters.

WB can start by making some really good movies and dropping Zach Snyder.

Wonder Woman must be good, if not great. But at least good. I have a strong feeling it will get similar reception to Man of Steel, but I really have no idea. I am even more clueless about Aquaman, but again, his movie needs to be really good.

WB needs to show that they have a clear vision with their universe and take their time. Focus on making good standalone movies, but also have someone above that will guide all of the filmmakers into making their movies feel like they are part of a shared universe. They need someone as good as Kevin Feige.

I can hardly buy the fact that Man of Steel or BvS take place in the same universe as Suicide Squad, except for a few name mentions and cameos.

With Marvel, I totally buy that Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Civil War all exist within the same universe leading up to something big (INFINITY WAR).

I'm not sure what you are trying to say BUT, are you saying you'd take BvS and DCEU over anything Marvel any day of the week?

"Deniel", indeed :hehe:
I'm really trying to figure out how posts like this contribute to a healthy discussion.

...Aaand I've come to a conclusion: They don't. In the future, if the only response to someone else's opinion you can come up with is to laugh at them, please refrain from responding at all.

I've been reading through several pages of this supposed "trolling" Mandon Knight's been up to, and while he has been guilty of Marvel/DC pot-stirring in the past, primarily what I'm seeing here is a guy who's constantly re-stating a minority opinion because people keep challenging it. He has even apologized for some of the more inflammatory language he used to express that opinion at first. To be honest, I think he's handling everyone's constant belittling of his stance pretty well, all things considered. The ongoing need to gang up on every DC defender who declares an unpopular opinion is really not a good look, people. Do better. :yay:

But, but, but....that's FUNNY and I WANT to laugh at it..... Oh wait, that's not an opinion.....it's a....disturbingly ominous request.

I think there is great hope to be had & felt, the trailers for WW to me show that.

The internet is worse for me. In everyday life I come across more people who enjoy BvS and Marvel films. It's the internet where I can't watch a YouTube review of a non related movie yet they still find some way to bash DC or kiss the feet of Marvel.
And how did you not know who was going to die at the end of BvS?

Are you sure that person wasn't just a grotesquely tall 6 year old?

I can understand why someone would like BvS better than most, or maybe all, Marvel movies (though I don't share that opinion). What I don't understand is the idea that ALL DC movies are better than ALL MCU movies.
.

That is just downright ridiculous and I can honestly say I have never come across a DC fanboy that delusional. I have come across many MCU fanboys who think everything Marvel does is brilliant and won't accept the flaws in some films; like Thor.

I don't know anyone who thought BvS was good outside of the internet. Even the college kids in my company straight out of school disliked it.

I'd take any DCEU film over Marvel's output any day of the week. I openly admit to being a FAR bigger DC fan than Marvel but genuinely would rather watch any WB/DC output than Marvel.

I find the Marvel films 'rinse & repeat'.

I liked BvS fine, but to say that Green Lantern was better than All MCU movies strikes me as a personal bias. By that I mean I don't believe someone is really rating the movie itself; they are rating the studio that produced it.

I can't take that sort of opinion seriously.

Ummmmm.....you were saying??? Who's ridiculous? Me or you or someone else? You might consider looking into things before you call people out because it doesn't reflect well on you. I guess there's always a first time to come across "a DC fanboy that delusional" (Your words....just to be clear, I'm not calling anyone names. I'm just quoting you.).

Apology accepted Captain Mydnight......arghhhhhhhh....... :woot:

I didn't mean to say your statement about was wrong or ridiculous I was saying that thinking every DC movie is better than every Marvel movie is ridiculous because clearly there have been some very bad DC movies. I apologize if I mispoke or I gave you the wrong impression.

Don't drag me into it :woot:, (I was in enough trouble & strife as it was)

"I have never come across a DC fanboy that delusional."

OK. No worries.

it's all good, just making a self deferential bit of humor based on last few days.:susd: v :smf: and all that :woot:

I actually find you one of the more interesting and fun people to read. I personally don't see what you are doing as trolling and think your posts have been pretty respectful.....albeit out of this world. :cwink:

Take care. If you were at my crib, you could be having a rib roast, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, yams, cheesecake and.....a lot of booze. (EDIT: And we could go watch Green Lantern in 3D on my Home Theater.... :barf: :woot: )

Later.

Sounds like a date.

Likewise on the bold.

I don't know anyone who thought BvS was good outside of the internet.

I find that hard to believe, unless you live in a very rural area and don't get out much. But you obviously don't.

I don't know anyone who liked BvS either. Not in general, nor with the geek community, and I am friendly with the staff in several comic book stores.

It's funny, I work in the entertainment industry, and I know one guy who loves BvS. But whenever he talks about it, he just starts going on an anti-Marvel rant. IDK if he really loves that film or just hates Marvel and is jealous.

I love both Marvel and DC, and I wish both cinematic universes were equal in quality.

Green Lantern is easier to watch compared to BvS (either cuts), it's also easier to sit through than Thor: The Dark World.
I successfully watched GL from start to finish, twice, and see the potential present there.
TDW lost me before the movie ended, never gave it a second chance.
