The thread is self-explanatory.

Okay, can I be the first to comment on how much I missed the Xavier opening narration, the Cerebro door closing, as well as John Ottman's X2 suite? Seeing it all again was glorious.

Everything, seriously every frame.

I like those too!

The "X" effect at the Fox logo. It was so... you know. :D

Acting was superb here especially Page, Fassbender, McAvoy, Stewart, Lawrence.

Storm's fleeting but fierce presence.

Colossus had more screentime. Yeay!

The DNA opening with the X2 theme with the name of the movie flashing out, then the Cerebro door closing, those were magical :'(

The full plane scene with Magneto and Xavier, such pure emotion.

Blink's powers:wow:

How the future mutants combined powers with each other.

Future Sentinels are sinister and creepy as heck.

-The animated sequence
-The X door
-The lighting of the X
-The simple credits
-The post-credits scene
-Iceman
-Storm
-Mystique
-The entire altered future scene
-Quicksilver
and many more!!!

I loved the glimpses of the dystopian future--the burned out city, the camps, the collars, the M scars, the bodies  :(, the kid (Nate Grey???) sifting through the rubble and stumbling across the X-belt in the ruins.

And the end credits scene. Apocalypse and his Horseman! So glad they're sticking with his roots and all that alien nonsense was just that--nonsense.

- The opening scenes of the future with Stewart narrating
- Quicksilver and the prison breakout
- Plane scenes between Erik and Charles
- The shot of lava lamp as Wolverine wakes up in the past
- Logan chomping down on a cigar, even in a post-apocalyptic world :woot:
- The final conversation between old Magneto and Professor X

  • Opening X2 credit Music, had me hooked right away.
  • Iceman Ice-Sliding.
  • My favourite shot was of Magneto rallying the Sentinels to his siede while floating with the Stadium.
  • Favourite action bit was of Mystique in the summit room with all her Kung Fu moves.
  • The opening with the interment camp was great, seeing the prisoners with the M brandings and the inhibitor collars.
  • The opening action had some excellent team work and really showed how the Sentinels were a force of pure destruction.
  • I adored the ending, it was exactly what I and most fans wanted, seeing the team alive again and happy was joyous.
  • Loved how Xavier remembered back to his time with 70s Logan and that moment between the two.
  • The past sentinels were amazing, just like the comics though not as big but they really were great even though people thought they wouldn't be.
  • Quicksilver was a delight, so funny, his slow-motion scene was awesome.
  • James McaVoy was great in this, he was the feature character and his depressed addicted hermit arc was great, him taking to the chair after his Convo with his-self was moving.
  • Storms death was damn emotional.

The stand out scene for me was when the two Xavier's talked but I can't find too many things to complain about anyway.

I really loved most of the things that have already been mentioned (Fading X with the added snippet of the X2 theme at the end of the 20th Century FOX theme, An Xavier Monologue, DNA credits with Cerebro door, the opening fight, and pretty much all of the movie from then on) but I was literally jumping in my chair while Future Magneto was using his powers, it was just amazing, the metal door he makes with the shrapnel, that was just effing amazing, I know it's kinda stupid, but I just love those little things, one could say that they could hear Sir Ian for hours reading a phone book, but has anyone considered watching him do jazz-hands for hours? cause that's just the definition of power (also kudos for Blink saving him at the exact moment I thought he was a goner)

There's so many things I love about this movie, most of which many of you have already listed, so I thought I would mention one real quick that I haven't actually seen a lot of people talking about yet..

Xavier's gold toned hover-chair!

I need to go see the movie a second time(at LEAST) for many reasons, but that end bit at the mansion with the fixed time line had a number of cool things I'd love to see and review again, but I especially loved the couple of nods to the 90s animated series. Xavier's chair was by far my favorite, but Grammer-Beast's look/hair was also great.

ahh too much, posted this in another thread but figured i should post it here

The opening scene was really well done setting up the state of the mutant community in 2023, the first fight scene was also awesome too, can't believe Iceman had his head stamped on!

Really liked the fact that Mystique killed Trask and it was her first kill which led to the events of the dark future happening, felt that it fleshed out the character we saw in X1-3, made sense that she would turn out the way she did because of the torture she went through at the hands of Trask Industries.

Did feel like the scenes in the future at the start were really fast paced, was expecting the whole X-Men to fight the sentinels before they sent Wolverine back and there be some form of disagreement when Xavier proposed the idea, but in terms of the story it fit well because there wasn't so much time so the idea that Xavier had the idea already made sense. Although it would have been nice to see some dialogue between Kitty & Iceman when they were embracing before she sent Wolverine back.

Don't really understand why people are complaining about how Kitty can phase people through time and Wolverine's claws. Mutants can undergo secondary mutations and its clear that Magneto would've rebonded the adamantium.

Although the future characters didn't get much dialogue or development (Blink, Warpath, Bishop and Sunspot) I thought Singer did really well to subtly get across the sense of danger and how big the problem was; When Colossus was about to die for the first time the facial expression he made just summed up how desperate the situation was, Bishops reaction to Storms death was brilliant and the way he died was crazy too and Kittys face as Iceman was dying and when the Sentinels were closing in on them before the timeline altered were all really good.

Along with that, the death scenes were very well done and I couldn't actually believe it was a 12 or PG13! Seems like they pushed the barriers there what with the nudity, swearing, death scenes and Wolverine getting the metal stabbed into him by Magneto. Every mutant that died got a pretty good death scene, I gasped when Storm died because even though it was teased on the trailer but I never actually thought they'd do it. Colossus getting ripped in two was crazy and the sheer horror on Icemans face as he was melted was mad too.

I thought the action in the 70s was quite underwhelming at times, mainly the Mags v Beast fight and the future changing event with Mystique dropping the gun kind of felt a bit jarring because it ended with no real big ending. The scene where Beast used his serum to transform so the Sentinel wouldn't pick him up was annoying.

The future scenes felt weird because in essence they were glorified cameos and extended power pieces for the mutants (with the exception of Xavier) HOWEVER I thought this worked out fine because the 70s part provided the story, depth and excitement and the future provided the brutal action. And both provided enough emotion, so they leveled and balanced each other out which i liked very much. Also, it is hard for the action to be crazy in the 70s because there isn't really an X-Men team so it doesn't call for team action.

Loved the nods to previous films too, Mystique looking through Trask's files felt really reminiscent of X2 when she looks through Strykers computer. Xavier reading Wolverines mind and meeting up with his future self was awesome, felt like X1 when Xavier reads Senator Kelly, Magneto firing the metal balls at the guards was cool, nice nod back to X1 with the balls on the table.

Jackman probably put his best performance in as Wolverine here, In the 70s he really did feel like Wolverine. I think the best thing about Jackman is that he can portray the bezerker Wolverine but also really portrays the sense of honor (not sure if you can call it that but whatever) that Wolverine has, which fleshes out the character.

Quicksilver was really entertaining, liked the subtle hints to him and Mags being father/son, was really funny at times especially when Mags said he'd killed the president and he turned over too the guard and said HOLY ****! hahahaha

Past Magneto was great too, can understand why it felt somewhat stupid that he would go against Xavier when he knew what happened in the future, but i took it that when he said they had a 'second chance' he meant a second chance to make mutants the superior race. Chemistry between him and McAvoy on the plane scene was absolutely brilliant, the facial expression from Fassbender showed that Magneto wanted to reconcile with Charles but kind of knew he couldn't because of their differing ideals.

Liked the way that the final bit of the film cut from past to future, watching all our favorite mutants die while Wolverine, Beast and Xavier tried to stop Mystique and Magneto really raised the stakes and drove the suspense to another level, hit home how important Wolverine succeeding was and even though we obviously knew he would survive it was awesome. I also liked how Wolverine slashed Kitty, think that added that extra dramatic touch too.

Young Xavier recognizing Wolverine from FC and Wolverine telling Xavier to remember Scott, Jean and Storm were nice touches although I don't know why he said Storm instead of Ororo lmao oh well.

Really liked the tying in with history like in First Class, thought the scene with Beast being trapped on the fountain by Magneto was great, the way everyone was taking pictures and Beast growled and looked vulnerable really added to the way they have developed Beast over FC and DOFP, hopefully by the time Apoc rolls around we will see a strong and imposing Beast. Same goes for Mystique at the hospital scene.

Having McAvoy do the closing voiceover was really really cool, almost felt like passing the torch and was cool having future Xavier do the opening one, nice touch.

The last scene with Wolverine walking round the mansion seeing all the X-Men was AWESOME, i was literally whispering HOLY ****!! in the cinema hahaha, thought it was cool that Beast appeared even though I already knew it would happen and seeing Scott and Jean was cool, Jean looked her best but Scotts glasses were a bit iffy haha. This scene was kind of bittersweet because as people have said the OT actors are pretty much the X-Men now and it felt really like the X-Men at this scene, i don't see why they can't ditch Wolverine 3 and do one more blowout OT film.

Post credits scene was great too, loved the way it panned in from the back of Apoc and I thought they got his look pretty spot on too, it's obvious that once the film comes around he will look like the Apocalypse every one knows.

All in all, it was a really well done film, I did feel at one point it was going to be not what I expected because the opening scenes were so fast and at times with the excitement it felt overwhelming, but when past Xavier dug out the chair that's when it really picked up and ran strong. After that it was pretty much awesome all the way through.

The stand out scene for me was when the two Xavier's talked but I can't find too many things to complain about anyway.

That scene was fantastic. Off the top of my head, I can't recall a more powerful scene in any Superhero film... ever.

My favorite moment of the film has to be on the way to DC when Logan tells Charles about Storm, Scott and Jean and making him promise to create the X-Men and to be their leader. There's something so poignant about how Hugh delivers that line. Like the past 14 years (and I guess maybe even 23 or so years within the X1-2023 DOFP film continuity) of Wolverine's world may be lost and the mutants might be decimated by the Sentinels in the future but regardless of that, Charles still has to become Professor X. He has to seek these people after future Logan's consciousness goes show them the way because there isn't anyone else to lead these mutants.

I also really enjoyed how Singer and Kinberg emphasize that Xavier's true gift isn't his intelligence or the fact that he's the most powerful telepath in the Marvel Universe - his greatest gift is his endless compassion and understanding for others. McAvoy understood this so well. Charles's seemingly infinite capacity for empathy and compassion is what makes him special and makes him the leader of the X-Men. I love how his conversation with his future self and Wolverine makes him understand how it is compassion, the compassion for others that he lost in First Class to a certain extent, that will be the key to leading the mutants in the future. And then he puts it into practice when he lets Raven go. Just wow.

Like most people said, the two Xavier's scenes were probably the highlight of the movie. It reminded me of Aunt May's speech about heroes in Spider-Man 2.

It's just an excellent film in all areas. If the action had ramped up to event film status in the final battle between the Sentinels and the X-Men it would be pretty much perfect.

Also, the callback to Fritz Lang's Metropolis :wow:

The two Xaviers meeting was the scene which had the most impact to me. It was so poignant and so well acted. When I watched the film, it was like a sacred moment, such silence, people forgot how to breath. My favorite moment, hands down.

I loved the film in general, but everything involving McAvoy's Charles, Wolverine and Quicksilver were the highlights.

Fassbender's face when Magneto tells Raven that he might have caused the future instead of prevented it.

Stewart's delivery to the "I had a glimpse into the past." It was like he was trying to find the right words to explain that his past self projected itself out of Wolverine's mind.

Magneto's monologue about the Sentinels paralleled the Sentinels killing the future mutants.

Young Xavier's speech at the end.

All of the future scenes. All of the past scenes. All of it.

Surprisingly, Quicksilver. Its going to be interesting to see how The Avengers' version tops that.

Agreed. It was surreal to see Xavier talking to himself. It was a father / son conversation.
