The Dark Knight What if a black actor was cast as Harvey Dent?

I really don't care about what race the actor is as long as they can pull the role off.

Henry Simmons would be my choice for a black Dent.

If a black actor was cast, I would want him to continue to play Two-face in the sequel, unlike Billy Dee Williams who I would have liked to have seen as Two-Face.
A black actor i'd like to see is Jamie Foxx. He would be like Ledger as the Joker. People couldn't see Ledger, but personally I think Ledger will pull it off.
Foxx would be the same way as Dent.

so if a black actor were to screen test and completly nailed the role, while all the other white actors didnt quite capture harvey, u would rather have nolan turn the black actor down?

Yup. I would rather have Nolan keep on looking for the perfect white actor.
Tell me, would you have a white actor playing Martin Luthor King Jr in a biopic with no skin color change? A white skinned Martin Luthor King Jr... come on now. What about an Asian man playing the role of Wolverine or even Magneto?
Truth is, skin color does matter when it comes to portraying characters that are well known.
You know, there are tons of ugly actors out there who are fantastic at what they do but because they are ugly, they most likely will be turned down for the role.

comparing comic book characters to a biopic of a real person is kind of ridiculous so i wont comment on that. i agree that skincolor does matter to some characters, such as wolverine and magneto, but not others. dent is one of the others imo. race has very little to do with him imo so it would work. im not rooting for them to cast a black actor, just the best one for the role. i was interested to see others opinions on the matter.

I dont think black actor would be good choice.

You see, Harvey Dent is half-white side and half-dark side. So you cant make him to look like half-black side and half-dark side, because it wouldn't work right.

*sigh* Not worthy of a response.

YOu know what, the more I think of it, Maybe Denzel would be a good choice as Harvey/Two-Face.

By the way for those wondering if there are any black guys named Harvey Harvey Johnson was the first black mayor of Jackson, Mississippi.

Y'know, I do wonder exactly how the Two-Face make up with look on someone dark-skinned. So far, we haven't seen it on anything but white guys - comics, cartoons included.

I wouldn't mind a black actor for Dent as long as it doesn't change other character traits, and the actor is good enough. Denzel would probably be amazing, though I'd prefer someone more in line with Bale's (apparent) age.

I don't find it ridiculous.
What I'm hearing is if they can seriously pull it off, then it's ok.
If a white man can speak like Luthor King and can act like Luthor King, that would be enough to have him cast.

i do find it ridiculous. first of all, MLK was a REAL person. second, his race is the reason why he was compelled to do such great things.

Dent is a FICTIONAL character and not nearly as well known as MLK. Also his race has very little to do with the motivation and it effects him very little.

the quality of the actor is the only important thing to me.

The same can be said of the biggest comic book characters around.

yes but with most it just wouldnt look right to change it. i dont think it applies to harvey, but that's just my opinion.

Not to turn it into a race issue... be Fox is in the movie and Bruce Wayne already has a black partner... won't make sense changing Dent's background just to include a black figure... Morgan is all you need...

the thread isnt about wanting more blacks in the film it's about if the role was given to a black based on his performance being superior to the rest of the white actors.

Just like how to me Crispin Glover simply IF the Joker!
I think Liev would make an excellent H. Dent!
He has the build, look, and acting ability to take on the role...

Speakin of MLK! I have always wanted to see if Hollywood could give his story the same class that they showed on the Ray Charles story!
An MLK movie much like a Malcolm X movie would be groundbraking, and emotional as all heck! I would watch that in a heart beat...

Can't believe it's never been done I mean he's one of this countrys greatest leaders! MLK was a visionary indeed, and it's about time he gets his own movie.:)

i would also be interested in a MLK movie. who do you think of first to play him? denzel washington. tha would be interesting, play malcolm x and MLK...
