And the exact same Superman Returns (though possibly just named Superman) movie with Routh was released?

Would it THEN be a fantastic Superman movie to those who did not like it?

Not really. Audiences today are easily bored and over-critical, they are difficult to please, everyone's an expert on everything (everyone is a critic, we don't need the official critics any more).

The movie still lacked energetic one-on-one action/conflict, and it was still badly edited.

I watched a war movie yesterday and some of the fight scenes had me on the edge of my seat, transfixed, unable to leave the room.

When i watched SR, i was also on the edge of the seat, but because i wanted to leave the room.

It'd seem more original less derivative I guess.

Certain character issues about peeping supes and bad mom lois would however remain as well as my problem with lex's scheme being Dr. Evil level of brilliant too so probably not.

a lot of returns relies on nostalgia... but that's interesting thought. What would it be like to see it ignorant of STM?

edited: spelling error.

No. It would still be bad, plot hole ridden movie. We just would not have had a great actor and movie to compare it too.

It would not make much sense honestly. People might cut it a bit more slack.

I think that its great Superman movie right now. But yeah, it would've seemed even better if the Reeve films never happened.

If the Reeve films had never happened, then there would be no Superman Returns.

If the Reeve films had never been, this movie would be one giant, "WTF?".

you do know that this is not an origin?

It would be utterly confusing. It would make no sense whatsoever.

"And if the Queen had balls, she'd be King."

I dont get the point of the question? If the Donner film was never made, Singer would've most likely had zero interest in making a Superman film since that's where all of his inspiration from the character is born from. Thus if you didnt have S:TM, SR would've been a completely different movie.
Had we somehow gotten SR anyway without the Donner films, the departure from the current state of the character would be even more glaring, and people wouldnt have the fond Superman movie memories of their youth to fall back on to make Singer's continuity at least somewhat understandable.
The regurgitation of plotlines from the Donner film is only one of the many problems that plagues SR IMO.

Bryan probably wouldn't even know Superman exists.

WB would have made the film, base on their hit tv show.
Young E.T. farmboy, coming of age in the big city of Metropolis.

..hmm.. can't really return if you never left. that's true.

I think we'd get Superman Begins and it'd be bigger than Spider-man.

No. First...it would be impossible. If there had been no Reeve movie...there would be no shots of Brando to reuse, there would be no Williams score to reuse.

Secondly...Superman Returns has confused enough people as it is now with questions as to what parts of it tie into the Reeve films...now it would tie into nothing, and be totaly confusing.

WTF?^^ Seriously is this a freakin' joke? We don't like the movie because it was boring and creepy. The fact it was also completely unoriginal and devoid of anything worthy being added to is just the cherry on top of the **** sundae.

IF the Reeve movies never happened we probably wouldn't have gotten Singer since he basically based SR off the donner superman movies. Wait a minute NO SINGER???!!! OMG!!! That would be freaking awesome.

If the Donner films had not been made, then SR would not exist. The movie that would have came out this summer would have been Superman: The Movie.

We wouldn't have Singer...:up::up:

What if SR was never made? Now would that not be great :D

^Indeed.

I can imagine the outcome would be similar, graphics today are the same. Not when they were first being used in the 1970`s.Its a boredom element, with nothing original.
