And what was the first?
BOOTLEG DOESN'T COUNT!
The first one I remember seeing on opening day is "Friday the 13th part 7";
The rest are as follows:
Street Fighter
A Lowdown Dirty Shame
Batman & Robin
Sabrina
X-Men (took off work for this one)
Star Wars Episode I
Star Wars Episode III
Spider-Man (took off work for this one)
X2 (went to work but was late)
Blade: Trinity
Batman Begins
Spider-Man 2
Daredevil
Fantastic Four

Anything Star Wars

Batman, Spiderman 1 and 2 I didn't see opening day.

It was so cool when Return of the Jedi came out, my Mom let me skip school, slept over at my friend's house and then we got up at 8am, went to the theater and met our 3 other friends in line who were crazy enough to've been there all night. Stuff like that doesn't happen anymore.:(

The very first time any character would come onscreen the audience freaked out and screamed like a Beatles concert. This guard walked up to the camera, took off his mask and it was Lando and the place exploded...for LANDO.

No one did that s*** when I saw the prequels, there were actually only a handful of people that even clapped for the Lucasfilm logo, even worse, they did it politely.
So lame.

Also sad, the only movies I'd try to see on opening day were when I was a kid. Now I actually avoid it and wait weeks because audiences are so much more unbearable now.

So lame.

People stood up and applauded at Episode I when I went to it, and applauded and cheered at the other two as well. Did you go to a midnight show?

I went to anything Star Wars on opening night, except for the original, which I saw in early June 1977.

All Superman movies opening night

Batman Returns opening night

Both Spider-Man movies

All Harry Potter movies

Smokey and the Bandit 2

All Ghostbusters movies

I don't see very many on the first day of release, I usually wait til the second week, when the crowds are thinner.

I never skipped school to see it but I did stay to see the last showing on opening day for both Indy and Jedi, even though I had school the next day. I don't remember any cheering during the movies but I do recall the lines to see it were around the block. The thing that pissed me off was some kids I knew from school, who just left the theatre after seeing Jedi, gave away all the major plot points and the ending.
