The Dark Knight What Will TDK's Rating / Certificate Be?

The level of violence that LOTR had for PG-13 is fine. No need to go overboard into tasteless territory.

I don't like gore and really wouldn't have much interest in an R rated Batman movie. What needs to be shown can all be accomplished with a PG13. I don't even see why it would really need to even "push PG13 to the limits." Return of the King contained blood as well as decapitated human heads launched into the air...I can think of nothing that horrific that I'd want to see in a Batman film.

...oh wait, I forgot everyone wants to see Joker peel people's flesh off and mutilate their cheeks with blood gushing everywhere.

It will be PG-13 because there will be minimal gore, its going to be more psycological scary than horror scary, if that makes sense. If there were a lot of blood, sex, or swearing, def. R rating, but no way that will happen in this.

I don`t feel comfortable with the PG-13 rating, i think that Mr. Nolan has to cut some scenes of Heaths performance because he played it like a X-rating. Man i hope WB let this movie how Mr. Nolan wants it.

Q: Any other gimmicks?

Heath Ledger: No, not a lot of gimmicks. He's just bloody, yeah.

Q: So is it gory then?

Heath Ledger: I mean, it's you know, it's a PG 13 isn't it I think, you know it's just more gore. I remember a remember going into this thinking it was a PG 13, but I wanted to kind of I wanted to prevent present kind of like an X-rated performance, if I could, so that's kind of what I've been going for and the power of suggestion it is pretty it is pretty dark. But there's not a lot of gore.

The film doesn't need to be gory for the Joker to commit disturbing crimes. I'm perfectly happy with the PG-13 rating. I mean, Alex DeLarge is one of the most mentally disturbing characters ever to grace cinema, and that movie isn't gory in any way, shape or form.

Take a look at the domestic batpod poster IGN is hosting, notice anything? ;)

Why does IGN have a rating hmm?

Not really surprised even though it would of been cool if the Movie was Rated R.

This is the domestic version of the poster. Notice that it says July 18, instead of the Coming Soon placeholder on the international version.

Hmm I see, never mind then. No real surprise though, but I guess some would like a R-rated Batman film :hehe:

Ain't suprised by the rating,And it's nice to see that Batpod poster is official after all

First off, that would never happen and I'm sure you knew that already.

Secondly, I don't think I really would want an R-rated Bat flick. I think that would be too much. I know this is going to be an extremely "dark" movie, but I think the level of violence and language needed for an R rating would be too much for a Batman film.

Look @ the address in "your" poster. It comes from the UK! ;)

whats it rated 4?

and all this info makes me think the offcial site will update soonish...hopefully

It is, as it should be, PG-13. As many have said before, there's plenty of room for violence, darkness and intensity with a PG-13 rating.

I dunno what the people who so desperately crave an R-rated Batman film are thinking... I want a Batman film I can appreciate as an adult, but one that isn't restricted to anyone under 17 either. 90% of all the Batman fans on this board wouldn't even be here if they hadn't had the chance as kids or young teenagers to see the earlier Batman films.

I don't care about the extreme, bone-crushing, blood-gushing NC-17 fantasy Batman film these people have in mind, Batman is a superhero that appeals to (almost) all ages. I saw B89 as a 7-year-old and it didn't mess me up for life, I want kids today to be able to see TDK and enjoy it too. PG-13, done well, is the best of both worlds.

I was hearing this word of mouth during the trailer showing; Christian Bale wanted a rated R version of Batman Begins as well as a pg 13 one.
