The Dark Knight What Will TDK's Rating / Certificate Be?

I also like how they're making out admist a bunch of corpses in the background. Romantics as the day is long.

who really wants a rated r batman and if so what would you want in it to make it r? I really must know

The R Rating theory is stated more on the violence. Fans(myself in included) want to see a bloody fight between Batman and Joker.

that would be one hell of a fight scene for a whole movie to be rated r

If you've ever seen Lord of the Rings then you know that a fight can get pretty intense and still maintain a PG-13 rating. Batman and The Joker could have a bloody brawl with Batman breaking his legs, arms, and nearly snapping his neck; the film will still be rated PG-13. I hope you realize there is no film in history that has gotten an R rating based off of a single hand to hand fight.

The rating system is very lenient, unless the Batman vs Joker fight involves Batman ripping Joker's guts out or Joker shooting Batman's brains out, splattering them onto the ground, any thing they do in a fight will still keep it at a PG-13.

well if you give someone a potentially lethal kick to the head, you'll get an r-rating. or if you have a few scenes with excessive blood, you'll get the r. it doesn't take much really. but at the same time, you can get plenty of violence into a pg-13

If you want it to get Kill Bill goofy, then by all means. Sometimes when you make stuff TOO violent, it can cross the line from mature to straight immature.

It's not like I'm doubting you, well actually it's a lot like that, but do you have an example of a film that got an R-rating for a single lethal kick to the head?

Lol, completely true.

Cool user title, is that you in your avvy?

this f'n thread is still here? wow.

mods ya gotta be joking.

well, i think they keep it so that people don't try to create another rating thread. i've seen a few pop up.

I think they should go the Shumaker route in terms of cheesiness, hell, even turn it into a musical. Make the Joker a happy, benevolent clown, and just tone down the overall nature and feel of the film, make it G rated, so that the kids can see it. There are too many dark movies these days anyway.

...

"Batman Begins" wasn't a hardcore PG-13 movie. I suspect "The Dark Knight" is going to be slightly more violent with the Joker and everything, but people expecting even James-Bond style violence (which stays under PG-13) are mistaken. Kids are going to see this film, remember that, and that's where a lot of the box-office numbers are coming in.

I hear ya, but I have a gut feeling that some of the film's imagery will surprise a lot of people. While I don't think it will be explicitly graphic, I believe Nolan will find a clever way to make things scary, disturbing, dark and unnerving while still keeping it *just* passable for younger audiences. Clearly, he knows kids will see this film. It's the Goddamn Batman. Still, Nolan would never compromise any kind of integrity for that. So yeah, we'll definitely see some... escalation, if you will, with the violence.

It's without question that the movie will get a PG-13 rating; what I find interesting is how much the envelope will be pushed with that rating. In general, I feel like the MPAA has gotten less stringent with their ratings due to studios pushing hard to get movies a PG-13 rating... The movie will be PG-13, but will it have "R" type material in it? That's the real question if you ask me...

The violence can be over the top, so long as not a lot of sex or profanity is present. That's the consensus usually. The only Batman to ever go hardcore on the sex was Returns.

Don't think that will be a huge problem. There really wasn't any of either in BB.

it's going to be pg-13 but it would be sweet to see a rated r
