The Dark Knight What Will TDK's Rating / Certificate Be?

I would only really be in favor of a rated R Batman movie if the Batman we would see is a very very very very very violent one.

An R-rated Batman film would be like Frank Miller on ecstasy.

And you all know how nuts that man is already. It's always the greats who go insane, in the end.

Is that the true rating or the rating of the Prologue?

If it's the rating for the whole movie, it seems awfully...limited.

We all know that Nolan wants to take a different approach in TDK. A more "darker" film. But will this different approach still give the film a PG-13 rating? I was going through iFilm today and I came across this video of the joker. I really liked the way that the actor portrayed him in that clip. He was more "evil" and "darker". That is the way I want the joker. I really enjoyed the clip. =] So do you think the film will be given a "R" rating if they choose to go with that sense of behavior?

OMG, no its gonna be PG-13!

TDK doesnt look dark at all judging by the new trailer. It actually looks alot less dark then BB. Why does everyone think this movie is gonna be so dark?!

Yes, Box Office Mojo has the official MPAA rating for The Dark Knight:

"Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and some menace."

I envy the MPAA. They got to see the finished/close-to-complete rough cut of TDK before everyone else does.

Because, when Batman's looking out at the entire city BURNING, I'd say the damn film is a pretty dark one. Joker's blowing up buildings including a HOSPITAL, a fire truck goes down the street ON FIRE, Joker pushes Rachel off a building, Harvey Dent gets half his face burned. Joker dresses up as a cop in order to do an assassination at a police funeral. The damn movie will be very dark.

Well it's good to know there's only some menace.

Where the hell do they come up with these descriptions?

That doesnt mean its gonna be dark at all. In Spider-Man stuff blows up, people got pushed off buildings, people got half of their face burnt and people got killed but that was the farthest thing from a dark movie.

I love the documentary "This Film is Not Yet Rated" :woot:

You get a good idea of how the MPAA works :cwink:

Batman Begins isn't that dark either. It's pretty uplifting actually.

Here what rating I'd like to see:

PG-13 for intense sequences of action, mild langauge, disturbing images and menace

I think that BATMAN RETURNS was a truly dark film, with no redemption or joy to speak of. BB, while dark, was about the journey of a hero, and ended on a high note. TDK will be darker, but I doubt that the film will be as depressing as BR was(at least I hope it isn't).
