What would it take for you to cancel Marvel books?

If I felt that I didn't enjoy the writer currently working on a series, I would cancel that book until a writer I like or want to give a chance comes aboard. I cancelled Astonishing X-Men for this reason.

Never cancelled a book because of an artist. Can't see myself doing this really.

If MJ were killed off, I'd immediately cancel all Spider-Man titles, except Spider-Girl. I'd, quite frankly, be furious if they killed off MJ.

I'm not like these silly reactionary fans who gets pissed off for minor reasons. It would take ALOT for me to cancel something that I love as much as Spider-Man. I feel that gives me more credit really, over guys that always get angry all the time for minor stuff.
I dropped Ironman Years ago because they kept having an extremely smart man-****e make the same mistakes over and over again.
I dropped X-Force due to a combination of bad Art (Ick,.. shoulderpads) and too much grudge soapopera.
I dropped Daredevil after Miller Left,
I dropped Captain America the third time they brought Sharon Carter back.

Currently,...
I will probably be leaving Marvel altogether because I expect:

Marvel reboot in some fashion to resolve the current mess - C'mon,.. Wolverine with Memory has the MU terrified, Spiderman with 500 active foes exposing his identity, The avengers fractured along four lines, Thunderbolts recruiting ALL the Villians in the MU, Black Panther and Storm wedding can't stand because it breaks too many fanboy hearts, X-men seriously messed up across the board,....

It's a sad state of affairs when "Excalliber" with it's time traveling Black knight is the most normal.

I can't handle "another" reboot.

I dropped ASM and FF of the CW tie-ins.The whole excess of the event is just everywhere and I was getting sick of it.I'm just following New Avengers and the main book.

It would take other books coming out I want to read.

I've already dropped Ultimate X-Men (one reason is because I can't stand Magician), and as soon as the arcs on the other four end I'm dropping them as well.

Well, he is a bad guy. You're kinda not supposed to really like him. Or am I the only one that realized that he was making everything happen from the very beginning. The brotherhood suddenly attacking Emma's school for no reason. That fight with the Friends of Humanity, everything.

I'd have to stop enjoying comics to cancel my Marvel books.
Simple as that.
I dont agree with a lot of the choices that Marvel has made with their titles. I dont always like the storylines.
None of that matters though cause overall I love Marvel Comics.

I dont read DC or Darkhorse or any other company because i have no interest in their universes

For as long as I'm enjoying comic books i'll be enjoying marvel ones.

maybe if the scarlet witch came back and said, "no more straight people, everyone will be gay!" id probably quit... well, maybe ill stick to she-hulk. she'd make an excellent butch.

What would it take for me to cancel Marvel books?

In an effort to bring in more gay readers Marvel decide to have Wolverine propose to Spider-Man, saying that he has always loved him. Spider-Man agrees and the wedding is billed as "THE BIGGEST EVENT SINCE STORM MARRIED THE BLACK PANTHER!"

Quoted for effect.

No longer getting Marvel books because one became a disappointment isn't something I'd ever do, if only because out of the dozens of comics Marvel puts out a month, there's going to be something I like. Why drop RUNAWAYS because I don't like what's happening with Spider-Man? Why drop MTU because I don't care for X-Men or Uncanny? Why not even give GRAVITY or AGENTS OF ATLAS or ANT-MAN a chance because I'm irked at Joe Q's decision on Thor? There will always books, no matter how good or bad the editorial climate, that shine and appeal to me. Much like a few blades of grass sprouting up between concrete cracks on the sidewalk.

If I don't like a particular book, I drop THAT TITLE. But I don't "punish" titles I do enjoy and are chugging along fine just because I'm irked at a particular administrative decision. Dropping X-books, Spider-books? I'm basically there. I haven't read ASM or any monthly Spidey book monthly for over 12 years, and once CW is over I'll likely continue that stint, despite the fact that I like the character. Same with most of the core X-books (aside for Astonishing, which is bi-monthly).

No matter how badly Marvel mishandles their big franchises, there'll always be SOMETHING that is worth reading.

Exactly how I feel. I thought it was ridiculous that people were posting here after Spider-Man unmasking "Thats it im done with marvel" thats beyond stupid.

I actually didn't mind Spidey being unmasked. It's a bit awkward, but it has potential. Doesn't mean Marvel won't retcon it and all of CW in about a year.

Yeah. "That's it, I'm done with Spider-Man, let me try one of the lessor Marvel titles like RUNAWAYS or THE THING" would be an appropriate sentiment. ;)

Yes, I know THE THING was cancelled. But if more fans simply sought out alternative books and boosted them rather than just sticking or ignoring only the big franchises, thinks might stablize. If 10,000 readers left, say, ASM and suddenly RUNAWAYS got boosted by about that many, it'd make some folks murmer around the bullpen.

I don't know. I think that universe would be kind of fun.

But that's a perfectly, ligitimate, totally not thought out reason that could only be the knee jerk reaction of the less than thoughtful. How could you hate that?

Momentarily lapse of logic.

Logic was no part of my quip.

You'd need thought out points to create logic, which that statement had nothing of the sort.

Im confuzzled.

I have a flannel shirt, I wear it once a year during July.

I once used a flannel shirt to fashion a sling out of.
I used said sling to fling various melons at my neighbor.
That was a fun summer.
