The Amazing Spider-Man 2 what would you want in a spiderman film?

^ agreed. They should've continued what they started with ASM rather than trying to appease haters and emulate Avnegers by changing it

The Amazing Spider-Man series needs to do its own thing. Now that this cinematic universe formula has worked for Marvel, every other comic book movie and studio is going to try to do the same, DC with Justice League, this series, and we even see this with X-Men. Unless Spider-Man has an unforced reason to build a universe, then they shouldn't. For example, the X-Men franchise had a perfect piece to the puzzle, having made an original trilogy fan base, as well as forming a new "past" cast with First Class. Being creative and basing Days of Future Past off the famous story arc in the comics, the Days of Future Past movie felt not rushed and not forced, but a great ensemble. The first Amazing Spider-Man had set a great tone, and it is clear that the studio is trying to take it in a whole other direction, and after seeing the sequel, it isn't working, as it seems forced and instead of letting the characters tell the story, the story is telling the characters. This is why I like the X-Men series (aside from origins) and the Dark Knight trilogy. Both are their own, and evolved in their own, not necessarily worrying about what other studios were doing.

Again, this is just my opinion, not saying this is all a fact.

Couldn't disagree with this more.

Dark and overly angsty (especially the dark part) is NOT what I wold consider a good tone for a Spider-man film.

I should have been more specific when I said tone. I meant storyline and direction. If you think the direction (meaning direction of the story) in the sequel is better than the first, that is just bad taste. I wasn't talking about the dark and grittiness of it. Just overall. Like actually focusing on the characters and story and not what will be in films to come (as in the sequel).

I apologize for the misunderstanding

Aah...then you and I agree in that regard.

Yeah I completely agree that Spider-Man shouldn't be dark and gritty. That was my bad

Yea, that was easily the most frustrating part of the ASM1 for me. It was like they were trying too hard to distance themselves from the Raimi films and be more like TDK in doing so.

Come to think of it it's funny how people are accusing Sony copying Marvel's formula for ASM2 and overlooking how they seemingly copied Nolan's formula for AS1.

I would like to see a new Spider-man film with the focus on character and story of ASM1 (done better) and the light tone (literally, brighter colors and environments) of the ASM2.

Exactly. Don't shouldn't be afraid to make spiderman it's own film. It's own tone and world.

I actually liked the tone in The Amazing Spider-Man. I thought it had the right mix of being dark and colorful.

And everyone copies everyone's formula for a movie. Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises was inspired by James Bond.

YES. I've been saying this for months. They screwed themselves by almost going back to square one. A continuation of their original idea would have worked out so much more, in my opinion. I feel like The Amazing Spider-Man without the origin could've been really good. Oh, well.

Agreed. The scene in your avatar is one of my favorites in the whole film. The suit looked so good at night it was unbelievable.

That was beautiful. I remember seeing that on the big screen and was like :hubba

the first film wasn't dark per say but just felt exactly like a movie which is clearly what marc webb was going for. when you watch some scenes while listening to horner's score while the cinematogrophy is more focused while capturing the textures being more sci fi and human it exactly feels more like an academy award movie and by that i meant how it was suppose to be under marc webb's vision if sony didn't take away all oif the other good stuff marc had.

anyway, 91 left to go before the petition is complete :D
