I would like to see an intelligent Hulk. I do not see how it can be otherwise coming after the Avengers. He should have his green scar persona.
But the pilot was one show of an ongoing saga. None of the examples I gave were campy or due to bad special effects, they were natural.
Look I don't want a parody Hulk movie, and I don't want Hulk to be like the Spider-Man or even Iron Man movies, but humor can be present. nI think your' taking the 'tragic' line a little far. Both the comics and the show had a fair share of light heart-ed moments. I mentioned Aliens and Terminator because they have a serious tones, but had moments that made one LOL.

But what about the bear fight was hilarious? Other than the green make-up smeared all over the poor animal or the obvious fake bear.
Again, humour can be present. My question always was why is it mandatory?
main villain- The Leader, and a monster like the Glob, Blip, or Missing Link..
and Jim Wilson as a buddy who helps him out..

... I want to see Mr. Fixit-- the Gray Hulk must be dealt with, and in a major way..

Grey Hulk started as a smart grey were-golliath with intent to kill at some pointsTo me an intelligent Hulk and/or a Hulk who's part of a superhero team is like having a pink-dressed Batman who loves peace methods to reach its goals. I think the character is supposed to be precisely a brute who cannot understand the world.
doesn't follow the same science his father has
Sorry, the fake bear was 'special effects crappy' funny, but also the fact Hulk threw him a mile.![]()
As I mentioned humor breaks depressing moods in movies and refreshes audiences, especially when scripts have a lot going on.

Roger Stern wrote the green Hulk as a smart guy who does understand the world better than people give him to be, but speaks in third person and doesn't follow the same science his father has
Ok. Didn't think that was made for laughs.
Ah yes. My bad.
At least you assume the script will be depressing and woth a lot going on. That's a great start.
I'd like to see a slightly more in control Hulk. Hulk was never stupid in the past movies, just blinded by rage. In his calm moments he could make decisions and think.
They should just show that as Banner gets better at controlling and managing his anger, Hulk is able to direct his rage better and understand more complex things going on around him, even if he only talks in basic/simple phrases and words.
When not in a complete rage, he's not dumb. He just thinks on a more animal/cunning level with his human side seeing through a murky green lens of anger.
The bear scene got laughs from three of my friends the other day when I watched it.
That was the complaint I've heard most from friends about Ang's Hulk movie, that it just seemed depressing.
Bruce BannerI'm not sure what you mean by this
Do your friends think that, say, Oedipus is too tragic and needs some comedy somewhere in between?
What does Hulk have to do with Oedipus? I've read hundreds and hundreds of issues of The Incredible Hulk and I never once got THAT connection.
Don't exaggerate. Besides, even Shakespeare put jokes in his tragedies.

You missed when Ang Lee said that he envisioned Hulk as a Greek tragedy. So he made the movie consistently. Therefore the criticism of lack of humour is pointless; it was made like that on purpose.
I think this misconception hurts Hulk the most because for years he was more than a guy who could just say "Hulk Smash!" Peter David really developed the character far beyond that, and that's what I want to see instead of the same child like brute that we get. Green Scar is perfect because he's still a raging and angry big green guy, but he is still intelligent enough to plan and have a team.
No, it's not wrong because while Lee mentioned the Greek tragedy of Banner and the Hulk, he also mentions that he liked trying the "dorky humor" ala the bike helmet bit.
The humor that was in the film didn't work because it wasn't very good and humor does serve a purpose in any work, even dramatic pieces, because of it's effect on the audience to re-focus on the film as it keeps the tempo steady.
