The Winter Soldier What you didn't like about Captain America: TWS - Flaws/Critiques

Especially with all that lipstick he's wearing. :o

looked like a he had a little lip gloss as well.

I also noticed a bit of unnecessary shaky cam during the Fury car chase. Not enough to take much away from that awesome action scene, but still kind of annoying.
Thinking of that... Imagine if Nolan's amazing chases were complemented by almost as amazing fight scenes... :hrt:
Anyways, did anyone else hate the mid credits scene? I get the point but it was jarring. Once again kind of looking like high end network tv. Blah.

I suppose it makes sense that the helicarriers could really assassinate 20 million specific individuals at once...if they were using that HYDRA laser tech. But it looked like what was coming of those guns were physical bullets. At that distance, bullets are going to be really inaccurate. :funny: And shooting Maria Hill through that building? Yeah right!

And Steve's mission would have been a damn lot easier had he thought to disarm Bucky after he choked him out. :funny: Or Batrok at the beginning. :o BW or Sam or somebody needs to teach him that...

The screen I saw it on was large, so even though we were sitting a ways away, the shaky cam made it a bit difficult to see what was going on. And the fight choreography looked really cool so that was kind of a shame. Still, it was engaging to watch, so that's a minor quibble.

Also, it felt a bit long to me, even though it wasn't nearly as long as the Nolan Batfilms. Something about the pacing made it drag a little for me.

On one hand I think she brings a lot to the role. It often looks like there's more going on behind the eyes.

But overall I just don't buy her. I wish I did. I find her delivery to be too distinctively ScarJo, and the way she walks, moves, and generally carries herself (albeit some of that is on the writers) just don't say "spy / master assassin" to me. I think I'd prefer a slightly colder, femme-fatale demeanor.

Yeah, for lack of better phrase and I'm sorry if this offends anyone but she's comes across too much like just eye candy. On top of that, I feel as if they've made the character too perfect aesthetically, it's like she never has a hair out of place.

Sorry, but that's cray cray. LOL

I thought before the movie was filmed they were better off using an aged actress, but the CGI job they did was absolutely fantastic.

That's a matter of opinion. Perhaps you haven't been around many 90yr old woman but they don't look anything like they did in their 20s. Most don't have long flowing hair like Peggy had either. The ageing make-up was good but you can tell that The Director or at least the Make-up artist intended Peggy to be more recognizable which was a mistake. People's noses are enlarged, their brow is more pronounced. Cheeks structures are changed. Again, to think that you can look like Hayley Atwell w/ old people make-up on and be realistic is laughable.

What, no remarks about how his long thick eyelashes are obviously enhanced by mascara?

Tsk tsk :nono:

Chris can't help it if he's prettier than you - and the female cast. :woot:

I don't know if this has been already mentioned. It probably has, but I can't really check right now.

But Pierce brings up the subject of everyone finding out about Natasha's past, and Natasha pauses before pressing on. The implication is that she hadn't considered it, but decides to keep going.

If she hadn't considered how the dissemination of those files affects her, then there's a big chance she didn't filter any of it, and that everything on record with SHIELD is now out there.

This has implications for every Avenger, but more importantly, it isn't good news for a whole lot of good SHIELD agents on assignments that probably don't serve HYDRA, undercover among bad people, whose cover suddenly was blown.

So unless I'm missing something, that's kind of a terrible implication.

Wanted more Red Skull instead of the archive footage we got.

I'm a little confused to why Arnim Zola was trying to rebuild HYDRA within SHIELD. He had betrayed them in the First Avenger and helped the Allies stop the Red Skull's plan.

I think its simpler than that: he really did betray Hydra, because he was a weak person easily cowed.

And then, as the years passed, he *regretted* that, because Schmidt was the closest thing he ever had to a friend. He worked to recreate Hydra as a way to honor the Red Skull.

I don't think it had much to do with friendship.

I'd say Zola was terrified of Schmidt, and perhaps thought his plan to subjugate the world was nuts. So he betrayed him when he got the chance.

Once he had the freedom and resources of working for the US, and when eventually surrounded by like-minded individuals, he likely started forming his own vision for HYDRA, which was much more sophisticated, and pragmatic.

Enjoyed every minute of the movie, the story was tight, and kept me engaged throughout the entire movie. Most definitely the best of the Marvel movies that has been released since the Original Iron Man.

Yeah watch the end of the scene where Schmidt fries those Nazi officers. Zola shouts out a really hesitant 'Hail Hydra' but he seemed to be doing it just to appease the Skull and not out of any sense of camaraderie or loyalty to the cause. All he's interested in is his experiments and he'll roll with whomever allows him to do so.

Only the editing during some the fights. A little choppy. That's it.

Seemed like the shaky-cam syndrome was in most every great action sequence with Cap fighting people. It was pretty annoying.

Also that was some pretty crappy "wiping" by HYDRA after WS started questioning Pierce since Cap was again able to break through to Winter Soldier, and even though he almost pummeled Cap's face to mush, he dragged him to land after being knocked unconscious.

Other than that, it would have been great to get more time with Winter Soldier - but the film was spectacular by and large. And sounds like we are getting some WS/Cap/Bucky time in Cap 3 so that will make up for it.

I'm okay with no Hawkeye. Maybe he is off somewhere doing something covert for SHIELD and they can explore him being exposed with BW's purge of SHIELD/HYDRA files onto the interweb. Who knows.

I thought of something I didn't care for, even if it's really minor and didn't affect the overall movie for me in any way. Just didn't find this scene very funny. They should have had a Darcy cameo instead.

It was just 'filler' to me. Didn't like it or hate it, it was just sort of there.

I vaguely recall a Jersey mention but not the actual line. But yeah, it was the employee that sucked.
