Days of Future Past What you didn't like about X-Men:DOFP - Flaws/Critiques

Overall my feelings are positive but the biggest negative for me is that the film felt rushed and unfocused, and because of that, a bit lacking in emotion and suspense. I'm fine with the future scenes and the dual-running timelines. That wasn't the problem. But the past story needed to be tighter in it's focus and develop some of the characters and the motives (esp Trask).

I'm pretty sure he was in one of the pictures of the dead experimented on mutants that Raven found in Trask's office.

I thought she got him out of being experimented on in Vietnam though. Think the [BLACKOUT]four that died were Azazel, Emma, Banshee and Angel. [/BLACKOUT] Could be wrong though.

Only real complaint that sticks out is how rushed the beginning felt with exposition. They are in a hurry but it just felt so clunky.

Heavy exposition.
Terrible wire work for Beast.
Meh CGI
Quicksilver was very cool, but overall just a plot device.

Okay here are more nitpicks, I was disappointed in the way the 70s sentinels were handled. I wanted to see more of them and the future ones as well. The climax of the 70s IMO was not that satisfying, especially since we had a ton of talking before hand and some bigger action scene would have balanced it IMO well at least for me. Some of the scenes also did feel a bit rushed especially the Magneto scenes and Trask scenes. But still the movie was very good, it reminded me of X2 at some parts. Also please more quicksilver lol, that guy stole the show.

My only complaint so far is I wanted to see more future scene stuff! I think just a few more scene interwoven in act 2 would have built the drama more, and allow the audience to understand the characters. Little chats on the battlements, maybe a morale boosting speech from storm to continue her leadership/experienced warrior role..... Connect with the new characters etc....literally see kitty near death..... Just to raise the stakes.

The after the credits scene in The Last Stand is all I need to know about how Xavier survives.
I believe its Stewart who plays that part, its certainly his voice.... so a twin brother, who is brain dead (since Xavier got all the brainpower of the 2) is easy for me to accept.

They cut too much action scenes, so the final effect is too much talk scenes in movie.

My only critiques are...

- I felt the future needed to be fleshed out more, maybe that was me loving it so much and being greedy. But most of the future cast didn't speak to one another, and that deleted scene of them first meeting at the temple looks interesting. I wanted some more storm and whatever the revelation was. Part of me also would like to see the Rogue Sequence.

- Mystique looked fantastic in some shots and painfully painted in others.

- CGI of Beast regaining his human form in the mansion.

- Needed more powered up Iceman... which i guess was in the Rogue rescue.

That's never explained that it's his twin brother. I don't think a post credit scene is a good place to put that stuff.

I would have liked even more action in the final future section. They had enough power brokers there like Magneto & Storm to put up more resistance and it's the finale, better to do too much than not enough. I love the film as it is but that would have just made it even better. But excellent effort and can't wait for the next one.

killing Emma Frost. Yeah January Jones was awful and we needed her out of the way but I really singers x3 idea of an elderly Emma that rivals Charles.

My only gripe with the film was how they got rid of Azazel, Angel, Banshee, etc. Sure they we're used for a story, but it's still slightly bland way to get rid of some characters.

January Jones was terribly miscast in the role, but Emma Frost is too good of a character to be killed off.

Also, I would have liked to have seen Banshee again at some point.

This. I was really expecting **** to hit the fan when the scene started and then I was left underwhelmed.

My main critique is that someone who isn't familiar with all the layers of the X-Men film continuity wouldn't enjoy/understand this film as much as we did.

Post credits scenes are what started the buildup for Avengers.

While I didnt really miss the other FC mutants, I would have liked to have seen Azazel again.

I was expecting a bit more from the final future battle myself. But it was pretty consistent with how the Sentinels were portrayed earlier in the film.

In the past I would have thought for sure Wolverine would have been able to land a decent blow on Magneto since he didn't have the adamantium anymore. In the comics even with the metal wolverine would manage to get close enough to slash him with his claws.

I also would have liked if Magneto had stepped up to be the hero in the 70s and taken on the Sentinels.

- Killing off Emma pissed me off.

- I still can't really stand Singer's esthetic with the old group of mutants. It looked worse next to how strong the 70s looked.

- Magneto's new suit looked so bad. :funny:

- Didn't really like any of the Sentinels, though preferred the past.

- Didn't like the general retread of 4 of the past films with Erik.

- Leaving Quicksilver behind because he is basically too powerful will always bug me. Don't introduce such a character if you don't want to use them.

My only critique is that they haven't given the entire production of this movie truckloads of money to return to the next one, if by some case they have given them said amount of money, can they please make it public?

When i saw it the second time (tonight), Trask seemed more rounded and did have motivation.

What he doesn't have is a personal tragedy (Jason Stryker, Auschwitz, death of mother) to drive him on, but that's okay. People do things also because they have strong belief, not just for vengeance.
