The way I see it is Xavier is in another man's body but he uses his ability so that others see him as he used to be. He used a similar trick in First Class to appear invisible.

He's unable to walk because his mind still thinks he's crippled. This happened in the comics after his body was destroyed by The Brood. Lilandra created a new body for him but he was still unable to walk although there was no physical reason why he couldn't.

I always imagined this kind of explanation would have been used if Xavier ever returned after X3.

That's not necessarily true. There's telepaths in the comics like the Shadow King that have lost their physical body but can still exist in the astral plane and use their powers to control or possess others.

This series is about evolution and besides saying that an "X-gene" exists there's not a lot of explanation of how their powers work and why they manifested as they did. As powerful as Xavier is we could just stay that he transcended that limitation.

If Im honest, Ive always thought Bryan is one of those smart directors and all, but with the way he has approached some things in this movie, no explaining certain changes, Ive realized he's not that smart. That or he just doesnt care about a smart approach and use the lazy route. In any case, Im dissapointed. I expect more from him or from anyone involved in my beloved franchise. This is not a franchise for kids, so please give me a clever script and approach.

I literally don't care how Xavier survived, though the seeds of it are found in THE LAST STAND. He transferred his consciousness to another body.

I actually like his explanation at the end of THE WOLVERINE. "You're not the only one with gifts".

It most certainly is. And so is every Hollywood blockbuster movie. The box office is fueled by children and teenagers.

If fans would accept this fact they could save themselves from a lot of angst.

I only partially agree.

This franchise is not aimed at only kids. I'd say it's mostly aimed at pre-teens to people in their 30s, more than I'd say this franchise is aimed at kids.

All of those definitions are either vague as can be or all over the place. One even has an example saying a 19 year old is a kid.

11 and 12-year-olds have a lot of spending power at the box office. I'd guess that most PG-13 movies, except for documentaries or something, are created and marketed with at least some consideration for that demographic. And saying pre-teens don't count as "kids" is quibbling a bit.

Anyway, having said that, I agree that movies of this genre do deserve a smart script. Most older kids can handle it.

This so minor but I noticed that...

In the movies Storm's "White eyes" effect is different from movie to movie. Off the too of my head in X-Men when she activates her power he eyes gives the allusion of rolling into the back of her head and in The Last Stand The "whitening" effects comes from the sides of the eye and goes towards the middle. And in Days Of Future Past her whole eye just goes white at one time.

*I can't remember the effect from X-Men United off the too of my head. Anyone know?

In X2, the white was transparent in that you can still see a hint of the iris behind it.
