Elite Squad (2007)

A very intense, slice of life crime epic in the vein of The Hurt Locker. Really brutal, really brilliant. Loved it.

Elite Squad 2: The Enemy Within (2010)

As well made as the original, with equal amounts of brilliance, however this film eschews the ground level stuff to concentrate a lot on the politicians, which is nowhere near as fascinating, making for a lesser film than the first. Too bad Jose Padilha got saddled with a crap RoboCop film for his US debut.

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012)

Admittedly, I saw this illegally back in October, because I couldn't wait for it. I purchased it on 3D Blu Ray to atone for my sins.

This movie is incredible, like a melding of The Terminator, Apocalypse Now, Memento, Cronenberg, among other stuff and it completely works. I was captivated throughout the entire film.

Much like Prometheus, people gave this a lot of bones about not answering every question, a lot of which I didn't have a problem with on my first viewing. My second one pretty much answered everything. Come on guys, wake up, stretch your minds a little.

Killing Them Softly: 3.5/5

The overbearing political and economic messages that are shoved in your face throughout the entire film become quite distracting to the overall story. The story is also uncomfortably slow, with any possibly urgency missing, except for a suspenseful scene or two. At the least, there are some great moments spread throughout, particularly in it's most violent scenes. I wasn't all that wrapped on Brad Pitt's performance but in the last 15 minutes, I became a lot more interested. His last little speech was fantastic.

Rocky 3
Hulk vs Rocky is a funny match
The story of "You get more punches in the face, you're blind" is ignored
Everything else is good

Wolf (1994)

Pretty good werewolf movie starring Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer. James Spader also appears and does a nice job in playing the sleazy antagonist. The chemistry between Nicholson and Pfeiffer comes across as believable despite the age difference, and I find it very cool to see Jack visually as a werewolf courtesy of Rick Baker.

Most of these classic horror films are worth watching -in my personal opinion- for the camp and ridiculous scary moments, makes them fun to watch and make fun of
It's why I'd rather boycott remakes, they lose the campy charm and become more serious, making them lose what makes the classic's worth a view

Rocky 4
8/10

It's good, I loved it before, I love it now
I think I love fighting sports movies

A no budget effort that mixes a lot of stock wildlife footage with wooden acting and characters that make no sense, especially the lead, however a bit of Native American mysticism gives the film some atmosphere. 5/10

More of a direct Jaws knock-off, the acting and characters are a bit better but the film fails to create any tension, plus the full bear never appears in a single frame with any actor, instead it's more stock footage and a prop right claw. 4/10

Django Unchained
Les Miserables

Loved them both

Did you top the night off with Alaska and brave? Bearathon ftw.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

I love me some low budget creature feature action but this is dreadful, totally guileless and has CGI that would look dated in a PSONE game. 2/10

I should have, instead of the rubbish I watched. :(

This is 40

This is probably Apatow's most charming film he's done. While everyone has their flaws you can't help but to love the cast especially Paul Rudd. I thought it went on a little longer than it needed to be but I didn't mind it for the most part. The jokes on a whole were pretty funny but after a while they kinda repeat the same type of joke.

Killer Joe (2011)

Deliciously depraved. I found it hilarious personally, but it's definitely not for everyone. Also, as a connoisseur of KFC, I'm glad Rule 34 took effect here. I'm actually hungry after seeing it.

Friends with Kids - 7/10

Wanderlust - 5.5/10

Holy moly, I haaaaaated that movie. There are few films I hate, and even fewer I hated as much as that one. I don't think it helps that it was marketed as a comedy, but even if I knew it was drama going in I don't think that would have helped it.

Sorry Gianakin, I don't mean to jump all over your post. You liked it well enough and that's groovy, I just...man, I just freakin' hate that movie.
