10/10

I just finished my Valentine's Day marathon of Django Unchained, Looper, Skyfall, Memento, Fight Club and The Shining. Love every single one of them.

The Punisher (2004)
8.5/10

A good flick, sorely disappointing it was received as badly as it did

I friggin' hate that movie.

(thought I'd add a little variety :D )

Night of the Demons (1988) 5/10
Oh yeah my sister rented that years ago because she thought the cover box looked scary so it must be good.

Don't want to spoil it but the one thing I do like is when Linea Quigley does something quite impressive with a lipstick.

I think in some ways it's one of those so bad it's good films. It was terrible , but the hot girls and unintentional comedy mostly made up for it. The premise could of been truly scary if it had been done right.

That lipstick thing was so random. I don't think anybody could of seen that coming.

The Dark Knight Rises

I can look over the minor flaws I have with it and still give it a high rating. (Yes I'm biased :o )
10/10

The Mist (2007)

They showed this on the telly in the middle of the night and I just had to stay up to finally watch this one, since I've thought of doing that for years. Great flick IMO. The interaction between all the people trapped in that store is almost like a chamber drama at times. There were some actors I've always liked: Marcia Gay Harden, Thomas Jane, Toby Jones, Andre Braugher etc. The kid who played Jane's son was good as well.

I also noticed that the "tough old lady" was the same actress that once played the likewise tough Dr Lazarus, who was Connery's ally in the classic (and way underrated) sci-fi flick Outland. I really loved Marica Gay Harden here, she must've had herself a ball with that character.

The creatures looked quite good IMO. Somewhat CGI-ish at times, but way better than in many movies. That spectacular ending everyone use to talk about (I've always assumed that everyone dies) was of course surprising. As a viewer you'd think that this is the rare sad movie ending and that's what folks are talking about, but then it gets even worse (for Jane's character, killing his son just a coupla minutes too early before the military came rolling in). I don't know of course, but it feels like that outcoming would've been much discussed before finally decided.

I still remember how hyped I got from the trailer on this one at a cinema visit. The film itself was far from as good as expected, but nowadays it's quite fun to watch DM if it turns up on the telly. Early 90's sci-fi flicks with guys like Stallone and Snipes still has it's charm.
