A lot of people seem to dislike Licence to Kill for some reason, but I really don't get it. I think it's a fantastic Bond film and I might like it even more than The Living Daylights. The common complaint seems to be that "it doesn't feel like a Bond movie". Nonsense. Not only does it feel like a Bond movie to me, but it feels like a classic Bond movie, calling to mind the best of the Connery era.

Dalton continues to be great as Bond. Pam was a fun sidekick. I never really liked M, Q, and Moneypenny aiding Bond out in the field in prior movies, but for whatever reason Q running around with Bond really worked for me in this one. The action is solid, and more believable than other Bond movies for the most part. The cinematogrophy is outstanding. From top to bottom I thought Licence to Kill was a really fun ride.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978)

I hadn't seen it since '78.....remembered it as bad, but not much specific....well....bad doesn't even begin to describe it. Wow.

^ Why would you do that to yourself?
Have you never seen the list of movies that I have watched? I watch movies....all movies....all genres, countries of origin, original filming decades.....I watch movies.

License to Kill doesn't feel like the Connery era at all. It feels more like they tried to keep up with the zeitergeist of 80s, calling to mind movies like Scarface and Miami Vice than Connery's Bond movies.

My issue is that in some ways it doesn't feel like much of a Bond movie. Dalton seems to be less charismatic than he was in The Living Daylights. He doesn't really have that "effortless cool" that other Bonds have. I understand he wanted to play the character closer to the novels, but I always felt like the best interpretation of Bond in movies is a combination of movie Bond and novel Bond.

I like License to Kill, but honestly I like The Living Daylights more.

Oscar (1991) - Sylvester Stallone's oft underused comedic talent at its best

The Mask (1994)

Hey, Sgt. Pepper seemed like a good idea at the time. The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton were huge then.

It did spawn one major hit, Earth, Wind and Fire's 'Got to Get You Into My Life'. Aerosmith's 'Come Together' is also pretty awesome, I think. And I've always enjoyed Steve Martin's 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer', he seemed to be having a pretty good time. Steve Martin was another performer who was absolutely massive when the movie was made.

I also had a major crush on Paul Nicholas. <3 So I've always had a soft spot for that movie, even though people regard it as a major stinker. I guess it's a guilty pleasure! But very indicative of the late 70s entertainment mindset of 'It'll work if we just throw a lot of stars into it, whether they fit or not'. It's how the Star Wars Holiday Special happened, too!

I know most people really love Goldeneye, but for whatever reason I've never been quite as impressed with it as everyone else seems to be. I'm not really sure why, but I just find it to be slightly dull all around.

Brosnan was alright in his debut as Bond. I'm not really a huge fan of Brosnan in general. I think he comes off as more smarmy than charming. I also don't think he sells the "tough guy" aspect of Bond very well either. He looks less like a secret agent and more of a 90's Men's Warehouse model. Goldeneye is definitely his best outing as the character though.

Goldeneye is perfectly serviceably movie, but it just doesn't stand out in any particular way.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

My favorite X-Men movie along X2.

Last night, I actually went to see two movies in theaters.

X-Men: Days of Future Past:
I was originally planning to skip this movie (because of the scandal surrounding it), but I think the way Twentieth Century Fox has handled the controversy in their marketing/promotion has been well-done and in good taste, so I bit the bullet and bought a ticket. In short, I think the movie was great (save for a few nitpicks), and it's my favorite X-Men movie, along with First Class. James McAvoy is freakin' brilliant in this film, and Michael Fassbender is THE definitive Magneto for me, moreso than Ian McKellen (which is really saying something, because I've always enjoyed McKellen as Magneto). Also, the finale had me at the edge of my seat and had me feeling really tense. You win, Fox ... I'm interested in the X-Men movies again! I'm also kind of sad, because with Captain America and now X-Men, Spider-Man is looking downright pathetic to me right now (and I say this as a die hard Spider-Man fan). Sad, sad panda.

Godzilla: Went to see this for the second time, because my boyfriend had not seen it prior to last night. I enjoyed this movie even more the second time around. I also find it funny that the only negativity I've heard about this film has been only on the internet. Every person I've talked to about Godzilla in real life has said they loved the movie. Also, the audience I was with last night was really into the movie. It was a good night at the movies last night. :)
