Not as good as I was hoping it would be, but there was potential. The stunts was the highlight for me. It was basically became the Australian Death Wish towards the end. 6.5/10
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Now this was great, it's a straight to the point, but extremely well executed. They raised the bar on the stunts and action and it's completely different film compared to the original. I can see why pro wrestling (The Road Warriors in particular) gravitated towards this movie, it's got all the ingredients of a fine wrestling feud thanks to Lord Humongous and his gang. 9/10
Paul Newman plays a white man raised by Apache in this Martin Ritt film based on the Elmore Leonard novel. There's not a lot of action in the first half but the set up is interesting and there is lots of excellent character work. Newman surprisingly has little dialogue but what lines he does have he delivers superbly. Richard Boone gives a great performance as the film's villain, who robs a stagecoach and hunts the passengers through the desert when they escape with the money. The stand off at the climax is quite tense and the ending tragic.
I never watched the TV series, but that didn't really matter as it was meant to stand on it's own. It's also not as big and explosive as Mission Impossible or Bond and a bit more Tinker Tailer etc. Apparently the series wasn't full of gun fights and car chases either, so there is a fair bit of character development instead of action. I thought it was alright overall. 6/10
