Split (2016)

Split_%282017_film%29.jpg

I was excited to see this based on the previews but didn't realize it was an M. Night Shyamalan movie still it was pretty watchable. It's an interesting look at dissociative identity disorder, the atmosphere is eerie throughout and James McAvoy gives an excellent performance as the various unique personalities. I liked the idea of some of the identities working against the others and his transformation into the beast was really creepy and almost had a supernatural vibe.
I don't feel tying the ending into his other film Unbreakable really added anything but I guess the Horde is suppose to be the next villain in that universe.
Not something I'd rewatch but one of his better movies.

Thanks for that write-up. I've been meaning to catch Split as [BLACKOUT]Unbreakable [/BLACKOUT]is one of my favourite movies. Looking forward to [BLACKOUT]Glass[/BLACKOUT] too

Watched GotG Vol 2 about a week ago for the first time in a while. The end still gets me. There's a couple of misplaced jokes but overall I like the film a lot, probably more than it seems the average Hype guy does. I also think Ego is fine.

Spider-Man Homecoming - just getting around to it. Pretty good...maybe I'm just Spider-Manned out. I never thought I'd say that about ANY super hero movie. My, the times, they are a' changing...

Repulsion (1965)

An introverted young woman's monotonous life leads her to slowly descend into madness culminating in violent outbursts where she murders her boyfriend and then her landlord. There are some interesting visuals in the later half of the movie that depict her gradually losing her mind. I felt the hands coming out of the walls to be pretty disturbing. I think the ending is really interesting and it left me wondering whether she actually killed anyone of it it was all just in her head the whole time.

Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970)

The fifth film in the Hammer series and the forth to feature Christopher Lee picks up at the end of the previous film when a sleazy salesman stumbles across a dying impaled Count Dracula and preserves his blood covered possessions. Some time later a disgraced socialite and devil worshiper convinces others to perform a ceremony in order to resurrect him. I'm not sure why this sequel isn't more highly regarded because it's actually quite good for what it is. The mood is sufficiently eerie throughout and there are plenty of cool looking visuals some gory and disturbing. Once again the supporting cast really carry the film and keep it interesting. Ralph Bates gives a particularly good performance especially during the ceremony when he drinks Dracula's blood. Linda Hayden also gives a creepy performance while she's under Dracula's influence. Plus another exciting and climactic confrontation with the title character ends the film.
