Avengers Infinity War Marathon: Iron Man 2 (2010)

I more or less felt the same when I first saw it. The first half of the movie is by far the best part about the movie. They did a great job setting up Ivan Vanko and showing what he's about. While I wish they did went full on Demon in a Bottle with Tony Stark's character, the poisoning arc reactor storyline was decent enough. And they were able to place the humor at the right moments in the first half. The 2nd half however is where it kinda loses all the good momentum it had. Aside from forcing in the SHIELD storyline, pretty much every scene had a comedic tone to it, so none of the stakes feels important. I feel like they forgot to write dialogue for Nick Fury, so they had Samuel L Jackson ad lib his way though almost every scene he had. And the final battle was still fun, but they wasted Ivan Vanko and his character didn't make sense anymore. Overall though, it's still a half decent Iron Man sequel despite some of the major flaws it has.
8/10

Wants to be a serious war movie but has a script from an 80's action movie with lots of corny, macho dialogue. 5/10

Not as clever as it believes itself to be. I don't get this film in the context, we as the audience are supposed to take it.

I enjoy it but it's 'subversive', the 'jokes on us' path, for me, is wasted, if you give away the 'clues' drip fed from the very opening scene, or maybe that's why I don't get it.

I didn't get it either.

Blockers.

Silly premise but there are some genuine laugh out loud moments which carry it.

Avengers Infinity War Marathon: Thor (2011)

It's still very enjoyable. Branagh was the perfect guy to introduce Thor and show off his lore. All the scenes from Asgard were great and my only issue is I wish there was more scenes from there. I love how Thor started out in this movie so arrogant and warmongering and redeemed himself at the end. The fish out of water scenes with Thor in New Mexico were pretty fun even rewatching it. I honestly put this movie on the level of the first Iron man, it's got a couple of flaws, but it's a near perfect first film.
9/10

Avengers Infinity War Marathon: Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Still love the hell out of this movie. Joe Johnston was the perfect director for Captain America. In a way it's his magnus opus considering how his career got started with Spielberg and Lucas and went on to direct stuff like the Rocketeer and Jumanji. Chris Evans not only got Steve Rogers right, but he also shows how you can still root for the all American boy scout without making him dark or edgy or disturbed *cough* Snyder *cough*. In a way this movie honors all the movie serials and swashbuckling adventure movies from the early 20th century and packed it all in here. There really isn't a weak member in this cast. Everybody from Tommy Lee Jones to Hugo Weaving to Hayley Atwell to especially Stanley Tucci knocked it out of the park. And unlike Iron Man 2, they did a great job on connecting the tissue for The Avengers and the MCU. This is still the only MCU movie that can rewatch over and over and not ever get tired of. It's a perfect movie.
