Main character has his moments being a real prick to his friend. Aside from that, it's a fun movie with unbelievable weirdness of the caliber I like.

I sympathized Ed Rooney most of the time, and Jeanie almost all the time.

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN (2011)

Boy, this has some really cool editing, it's similar to the editing used for the 2003 Hulk movie, but done more sparingly and sometimes more creatively.
It has the right ingredients for greatness and lives up to it. The budget is too high for this movie though.

Daniel Craig is better as a villain than he is as James Bond.

Climax battle with cranes, watching it now I thought "All that is missing is Spider-Man showing up all of a sudden", that dude has cranes in three of his movies and the footage we were shown of his Insomniac game.

Just good, far from great. Meanders a lot, Julie seemed like a much more interesting character than the boringly pretentious & annoying Christine/Lady Bird. Definitely not worthy of a best director nomination, imo, which she clearly got because they didn't want a similar backlash about all-male directors at the Golden Globes. Yet two other female directors did a far superior job in 2017 than her (and Bigelow's work was my 3rd favorite directing job all that year), so that really wouldn't have been a problem anyway. I didn't think Saoirse was that great either. Laurie was great, though.

Gary is great, and some of the cinematography is gorgeous...but it's mostly a chore to get through. I heard this movie was just okay without Gary, I think I agree with that notion. It's kinda like The King's Speech to me all over again. Great lead performance, but the rest of it is blah.

The Machine (2013) Great low-budget A.I. sci-fi which I've watched several times now. What seems a pretty la vuelta performance in the first half becomes an awesome one in the second.

I also liked it. It's a new take on the classic Frankenstein story.
