Halloween III: Season of the Witch

As every year I need to re-watch this awesome film.

Cockneys vs Zombies

A fun zombie parody set in London but not as entertaining as Shaun of the Dead. There's some hilarious jokes and a lot of action, but it felt like it dragged for the most part.

Juan of the Dead 8/10

This is Cuba's answer to Shaun of the Dead but it feels like it's own movie and not a rip off. The characters aren't as appealing but it's still really funny in some parts.

The Ruins
th

This set up a really interesting premise but it was more tame than I expected. I thought the vines would do more but they used subtle tactics. It was just weird at times and the characters made stupid decisions. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel though.

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning:
Rated R (Hard R at that).

Here is what I posted at another board.

Includes minor spoilers

Pros:

John Hyams directing overall.
DOP
The Horror vibe and Horror/Thriller music beats.
Scott Adkins
That one stripper that was with Dolph, Dolph has taste.
Dolph
Action/Fight scenes
Decent running time.
Hard R rating.
Weird vibe overall.
Kris acting in minor role.
That other evil doctor with Kris, he seems familiar.

Cons:

Confusing movie at times.
Not big fan of script.
Van Damme role.
Was the stripper working with Dolph? Cause she had a gun...
Kris clearly trolling.

Rating: B+. And that is final.

Yep, B+ and worth the 9.99 SD DL on PSN. The unrated cut (pretty much NC-17) is only 40 seconds longer. This ran 1:53:20, unrated is 1:54:00. Without end credits, this was 1:46 something.

Would you say it's better than the other Universal Soldier films?

Dead Silence

Damn I never expected this film to be so damn good. The first thing I noticed was the incredible music, It adds so many layers of fright. Most horror films today forget that. The story was pretty damn awesome and creepy, you can't go wrong with a horror film about a ventriloquist doll. Also since the director did Saw, the ending was really well done.

Ahh, I watched this a few days back when it was on AMC LOL. Not the first time I saw it though.

Jeepers Creepers. It was on AMC tonight. BAH. I still love it.

Snow White and The Huntsman. Besides Kristen Stewart's meek, docile expressions and the slightly boring elements of the script I actually find this movie to be a visual treat. Charlize Theron delivers as usual and Chris Hemsworth is great. The cinematography and effects are what makes the movie though. All in all I'd say a 6.5-7/10

Would you say it's better than the other Universal Soldier films?

Err...well....

Universal Soldier is a classic. It's a totally different film from the others with VD.

Unisol: the return is a short cheese fest with a great Van Damme vs Jai White fight scene and nice metal music.

Regeneration is a serious, bleak, hard hitting action movie.

Day of Reckoning is a movie which is weird, but in a good way, and really needs to be catalog as a horror/thriller. Although this is vibe is mostly the first hour, then it morphs into more of the action movie.

I say it's tied with Universal Soldier, slightly ahead of Regeneration, and really ahead of last placed UniSol the return.

For a good vibe of the movie, go ahead and watch the R-rated trailer on youtube. It is really a horror-thriller-sci-fi-action. Some people say it has a David Croneberg vibe, never really seen his stuff, but there are scenes that remind me of JC's The Thing...in terms of camera shots and music.

OH and if you have seizures...not really movie for you...

Thanks for watching this, you reminded me of one of the two movies I forgot out of the four movies I wanted to get
Two more are Evolution (2001) and Escape from New York (1981)

Sounds really good , I'm looking forward to it. Especially the horror vibe. A film about dead soldiers should be more creepy.

I really like horror anthology films and this is one of the best from the 80s. It's more of a cheesy comedy and pays tribute to horror comics. I like how it goes from each segment by cutting to comic illustrations. The segments are all entertaining and the make-up effects are badass. Also it has a rare performance by Leslie Nielson playing the villain. I didn't enjoy the final segment as much but it's one of the sickest gross out scenes there is.

Sinister. 8.5/10

MV5BMjI5MTg1Njg0Ml5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzg2Mjc4Nw@@._V1._SY317_.jpg

I thought it was really creepy. The way they set up the 8mm films were fantastic. The opening scene is very unsettling. It has a strong beginning but some of the ghosts weren't scary. I think it had a lot of potential and is good but that kind of took me out of it. Also it's very predictable. I knew what was going to happen. It's still scary at times though. Ethan Hawke does a good job carrying the film.
