I'm having a REALLY hard time finding Raimi trilogy swing gifs. There are like barely any out there. If someone finds some, please post them here. I'll be posting TASM swinging gifs while I'm at it.

Cant weight to see what you post!

I think some of these debates are silly anyway. I think that the swinging in TASM looks "superior" in some ways, but it never stood out and made me say "WOW!" It looks better because it should look better than a movie that came out 10 years prior. But Raimi really made the most out of what he had at the time and those swinging scenes really stand out to me.

I like sharing opinions. Just wish it did not always become a battle to do it. Poll threads are becoming worst for it now.

then we will stop the battling now lol :D
so what is your favorite swing scene in each Spider-Man film????

I can't really decide which is my favorite moment. THIS scene is so freaking beautiful and elegant. You can see the effect that the physical world has on him AND you can see how elegant and easily spider-man can perform his acrobatics.

Well at least that explains it.

The TASM swinging looks better because well, it's logical to assume after 10 years that'll happen. It's good to see you admit that

Would I be right in saying that the context of the swinging affects what some of you like better?

For example, in spider-man 1 his final swing comes after a really beautiful monologue and conclusion. It has that "bam" feeling when it's backed by an awesome movie and soundtrack.

Spiderman 2 had so many highs and the stakes were so high that again, the context of the swings gave it more gravitas. The "he's back" scene is my best example here, it's basically the finale of the "spiderman no more" arc and segues straight into the famous train scene (I THINK, I need a rewatch). Again, the gravitas of both those scenes adds an "epic" context to those swings. Add elfmans score and you've sort of got a really nice happy joy feeling.

Spiderman 3 I dunno, it didn't have that gravitas to me and others but I think coming off Spiderman 1+2 with a really nice score, that whilst not fully Elfmans, still adds to the scene. To be honest I can't really remember an iconic scene in SM3 so I'm not sure about my theory here, but again, Spiderman 3 had some really swell effects, so maybe it's that?

The amazing Spiderman had some amazing looking swinging scenes but the only scene I can think of with that emotional gravitas is the "crane scene", it's really not up there with the others though is it? To compare the final swing of SM1 to TASM1, Tobey's last line is "gift curse, responsibility, I'm Spiderman" whilst Andrews is "I'm literally breaking a promise I made to a dead man five minutes later with a sorta risky line that could break our already broken relationship" sooo, yeah, whilst TASM's final swing looks MUCH MUCH better, he basically just spat in the face of poor old cap Stacey in the last scene and without your epic score, it might not have that oomph that comes from the context of the entire film that you get with SM1

The amazing Spiderman 2 had wonderful scenes, but arguably the best swinging scene comes near the start of the movie when he's chasing and quipping at a Russian guy in a car whilst on the phone to Gwen and seeing ghost "I spat in your face" dad. The other ones the electro swing near the end, and whilst it's an amazing looking scene, people were put off by electro by then. With that scene where he chases green goblin again the visuals are great but some might be upset that the comic book origins of about 3-4 significant characters are being sorts killed in one scene. And let's face it, dub step ain't no Elfman. So whilst the actual scenes look amazing when people see them they're not in a "blow me away" mood due to the whole, ehhhhhhh, feel of the films

I'm not sure how much I actually agree with what I'm saying but it's what I'm assuming a lot of the people who voted SM1-3 are thinking?

If it's based purely of visuals and cgi than I really can't explain it in my own head

You've all got the right to think whatever you want but I'm wondering if I'm getting any closer to anyone's thought process?

so what is your favorite swing scene in each Spider-Man film????

Yeah I think that's basically it. Context is very important IMO.

This poll isn't really about the CONTEXT of the scenes, I was aiming more for the "if you never saw the movie and just saw each individual swing scene then which is your favorite??" That's basically it, I'm judging this all on effects and visuals and cinematography etc
which looks the best??

It's a bit too difficult to remove the scenes out of context and judge and remove all biases because you can't really do that. I guess in that sense though I would say that the swinging scenes are objectively superior in terms of visuals and effects from the newer films because they are newer. The special effects should be an improvement over movies that came out in the last decade.

In terms of specific scenes, then my favorite is definitely the crane scene from TASM1. Just incredible. The final swing from that movie is definitely up there too, just wish it was a few seconds longer.

it is possible, but i guess you are right that it would seem pointless. And in the end, yes, the swinging scenes of the newer films are far superior to that of the old films in terms of visuals. i guess

I used to think that the final swing in TASM1 was the best out of the three because of how good it looked (and I liked Horner's music). But the more I think about it, the more I like the final swings from SM1 and SM2.

"Who am I? I'm Spider-Man!" Just so epic. And the Elfman theme playing in the background is just something that added to how amazing it was.

That's why I felt like I was crazy or something, cause I thought people were saying from a visual and effects point of view the old ones were better?

I was confused

I totally feel the context thing, watching Spiderman 1 right now and there's a fair few cringey lines in there buts it's a pretty great movie even today

everything about the action scenes in TASM2 especially the swinging scenes is pure Spider-Man fan eye candy

Sorry for not clarifying why I liked the swinging scenes in the Raimi films more. Context is really the key thing (and I do think the effects look good).

There were some corny lines but Sam Raimi knows how to make it work. Cheese is his specialty.

Nice to see people getting along. Feels a little less chilly in here since last night.

Favorite swinging scene:

SM1: Final Swing
SM2: He's Back!
SM3: Saving Gwen
TASM1: Crane scene
TASM2: Opening shot

They'd be my choices, too.

I liked TASM and TASM2 web swinging almost equally. The perfection. Really blows raimi's series out of the water. But I give my vote to TASM. TAM2 is very close though.
