BvS Which Green Lantern should be used? - Part 1

A loose / vague tie-in to GL-2011 movie could still serve some purpose, like the GL -2011 movie from beginning to the point where Hal gets his training on Oa could serve as an introduction to the character, just ignore the rest of the movie.

Let's face it, Hal Jordan's origin story as Green Lantern is not exactly very interesting (IMO.) it's better to move ahead to next GL movie rather than going through a reboot.

Re-introduce Hal in Justice League movie, then in his solo movie add John Stewart as GL, it would help the movie as Hal Jordan and John Stewart dynamic could provide some interesting stories.

Reboots are fine. They don't need to go through 40 minute origins again. Incredible Hulk didn't have one.

We don't need a 'vague tie-in' to Batman Begins or the WW tv show either.

Whoa...I'm shocked. The selection process is always interesting, regardless of which Corps is in need of a new member. Abin's death was one of the points in the GL movie where I was really riveted.

And, the GL movie of 2011 did show his origins effectively enough, I don't think that it could be shown in much better way in a reboot, other than that chances of GL reboot getting success is slim.

Whocares? DM isn't wearing a costume, he's literally a naked glowing blue dude.

Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck are wearing practical costumes so I assume any GL in a Justice League film will be wearing one. There is no reason to make the suit completely CGI.

You really don't see the link between Dr Manhattan, a glowing blue man, and Green Lantern, a glowing green man?

In the comics, i was never able to understand why the ring can produce a solid costume that looks like it is made of some sort textile, but every other construct it makes is a mere green hologram looking thing.

the way the movie did it made a lot more sense, and is consistent in how the ring is suppose to work, so CGI costume made sense.

i also don't understand when you guys say GL's costume was organic looking?

No I don't really. Is GL a naked glowing green god? Not the last time I checked.

He is a god. And Dr Manhattan is not always naked. Neither of which are relevant to the question

So I ask again: Do you see the link between a glowing blue man, and a glowing green man?

No I don't see a link between the two characters.

I don't think they went out of their way to draw attention to it at all, I mean that's a curious observation to me.

All I can say is to me CGI shouldn't be used on pointless things like a costume that can easily be made into a physical thing. I mean we aren't talking about Iron Man or a talking tree here, CGI helps those things work better on screen. The CGI Green Lantern suit was a waste of time, effort, money and to top it all off...yeah it did look pretty distractingly fake to me.

I mean sure you can get ILM to do the perfect Superman, Batman, Captain America and Thor costumes but why? You could just make the suits.

It really stands out as cgi to me.

It really stands out as cgi to me.

A film by a different director with a different effects house is no guage of standard. It's like comparing the effects in Superman Returns to Man of Steel.

This is a better guage of a CGI suit by Snyder.

I think the end result came off as a design standing out to show their cgi achievement, rather than just to make a good suit.

I'm thinking you missed the whole conversation. My argument was that a CGI suit can look decent, and just being CGI didn't make the GL suit terrible. It was the execution. Essentially you just made the same point.

Green Lantern isn't wearing armor. Again why don't you suggest all of the tight non armored superhero suits be fully created in a computer?

Light that looks like every other superhero costume that I have ever seen in a comicbook.

I'm not disagreeing that a real costume made is the way to go, I just think the CGI GL suit should not be the barometer of it working. It could be pulled off still.

Well then what exactly is your argument?

Zod can be CGI because its armour (lol rite).
Superman can have a CGI cape cuz reasons.
But Green Lantern who wears light can't be CGI because............

I don't think that anyone would be suggesting a CGI suit if it weren't for that bad GL film trying it. Which is odd because nobody liked the idea or execution.

Oh well I suppose we are going in circles. It's obvious our opinions aren't going to change. I despise the idea and am vigorously against it and some people like the idea and some sorta like the idea.

I'm indifferent to the idea. We know a well made real suit could look amazing but I just don't think it has been disproven that a CGI suit could be made that works as well.

If you just said "I'd rather not a CGI suit" instead of denying the similarity in the nature of Dr Manhattan and Green Lantern in potential construction and ignoring other characters CGI costume (parts) then I wouldn't have pursued your point.
