Who do you want to see as Captain Marvel?

I am aware of their ages. I was hesitate to put Grace in.

I wouldn't want to cast someone over 30. But there's hardly any talent lower than 30.

Why is that. Why is over 30 too old? I just have to ask. I want to know? What is it that you see in women under 30 that makes them a better fit? I'm sure you know that Paul Rudd and Paul Bettany are playing Antman and The Vision and they both are over 40. Forgive me if I'm wrong but i'm willing to bet that you don't have a problem with their age. I've not seen anyone complaining about those men ages. Cumberbatch and Boseman are nearing 40, they are like 36-38, which is the ages of Chastain and Theron but people here has already said that's too old and they shouldn't be cast but it's not to old for BP and Doc Strange?????

She'll be an AWESOME Harley.
Yeah, it's really inspired casting, imo. And it surprised me because ever since Wolf of Wall Street, I've seen her brought up for all these other CBM characters and thought she was wrong for just about every single one, so I was kinda sick of seeing her mentioned for ANY CBM at this point. Then she legitimately gets cast in one and it's such perfect casting it actually raises my hype level for that movie quite substantially.

Of course she wasn't a great fit for Carol - she's way too old! What were people thinking? :oldrazz:
:funny:

Is Blunt a natural brunette? There was a 2-year period where I only saw her blond so I just assumed that wasn't the case... And the fact she looks much better. Ha.

Of course looks play a part in a lot of people's casting suggestions but come on man. Put some actual real world thought into it as I try and do. Why would you cast some early twenties actor as a character who obviously based on her background isn't going to be 24 year old woman unless you just rewrite her story all together.

I'm not being pretentious I'm trying to be more realistic. It's also a bias against woman. No problem with RDJ or Ruffalo who are in their 40's or Paul Rudd and Paul Bettany who are also over forty and getting cast as newly added characters but a woman who is in her mid 30's is now too old where Marvel should cast actresses like Margot Robbie or Heard, who both are like 25? All i've read is: OMG if they cast Theron she'd be too old to do sequels, oh no Theron looks worn sometimes, Really? I'm not saying this is how you feel cause I've not read all your posts but I don't want an actress cast based off youth and ageism.

Well like I said before, there's a different type of sexism in here as well. The idea that a younger actress (and I don't mean early 20's) simply can't be taken seriously. The guys that were cast in their 20's didn't have to deal with that.

I'm not sure if you're including me in that statement, but I've been talking strictly about age in relation to rank, because one of the most significant aspects of Carol's backstory is her established career BEFORE superpowers. It has nothing to do being able to "be taken seriously" and everything to do with having been believably alive long enough to have achieved everything that Carol had achieved by the time she became Captain Marvel.

I see this is a trying to ice skate up hill battle. Fine man and to others who want early to mid 20 actresses for all female comic parts, you win.

Most of these guys don't understand the problem of casting a 21-26 year old as a woman who's achieved good accomplishments before she even got superpowers. They feel that either her story should be rewritten so you can cast a Heard or just plan old suspend disbelief. Yeah I guess if 25 year old Blake Lively could pass for an experienced fighter pilot in Green Lantern then anythings possible. A Heard or a Robbie just by passed both high school and college all together and went straight to the Airforce at 13.

I don't think blake passed as an experienced lighter pilot.

I have no idea why people are still saying Emily blunt isn't beautiful. She's flawless

I won? I didn't even realize I was in a competition. :oldrazz:

Emily Blunt is the best choice for the role. She's got enough star power, the physical attributes (as seen in Edge of Tomorrow) and most importantly, the acting chops. I could see Jessica Chastain in the role as well. I really don't think Marvel is going to cast an unknown or a C-lister in the lead role for their first female superhero solo film, especially since Captain Marvel isn't really an A-list superhero to begin with.

Is Ali Larter "too old"? She would be my number one choice; something about her just screams Carol.

TBH, I never liked her character much on Heroes (which might be the only thing I've seen her in). I don't know what (if anything) that says about her.

I like Emily Blunt, but could she pull off the blonde hair?

Ali Larter is just not a very good actress, imo. I feel like I've seen her in SO many things over the years and not once has she remotely impressed me.

^

Haha. I wouldn't quite go that hard at Larter* but you're right in that she hasn't really stood out in anything I've seen her in.

My choices remain:
1. Winnick
2. Chastain / Blount tie

* I'm aware of the unfortunate phrasing... no "that's what she said" jokes please. :)

Chris Evans's lighter hair color has always looked odd to me so Emily Blunt should at least top that.

Thanks, she looks great with blonde hair. That was the only thing I had against Emily playing Carol. CM must be a blonde and I was afraid Blunt couldn't pull it off, but I was wrong. So I'm on board the Blunt as Danvers train. Although Margot Robbie's now my second choice for the role.

I doubt she'd even be considered since she's going to be Harley

Blunt and Stra-hot-ski are my choices

Robbie shouldn't never been considered in the first place. She is way to young for Cap Marvel.

Hey you know who would be crazy?

Saiorise ronan as carol. Marvel has talked to her in the past about playing wanda but there was a scheduling conflict.

What do you think?

Definitely not. She's only just out of her teens and even as Wanda would've been extremely young. Not unless she's playing Little Miss Marvel. :o

So you really want Phyla-Vell as Captain Marvel instead of Carol Danvers? I mean if you are naming actresses that young I assume you must want Phyla as Captain Marvel. If so then Ronan is fine for her as well as Robbie and Heard and any other actress that's mentioned here that's in their early 20's to mid 20's. I like that version of the character too although I don't think Marvel is going to use her as Cap Marvel. I guess they could but she's not on Earth and she is the Daughter of the 1st Kree Captain Marvell. If they went with her she could show up in GOTG 2, she was a member of the team in the comics.
