Team Ackles (lolwut)

Team Ackles (lolwut)
Yeah that's the one. I was Team 'Get the Hell Out'. As soon as Evans was mentioned I bit their hand off.I can't remember them all but was that shortlist the one with Chace Crawford? I think I was Team Kransinski and Team Ackles (lolwut) on that one.
With the big names they chased for Dr. Strange, I'm feeling more confident that they'd aim higher this time around. I mean, they might not go for an A-lister, but I don't think they'd go with the Chace Crawfords.
I think so, and also a guy from that Lipstick Jungle show. I was Team Krasinski there but it was a pretty disheartening shortlist.I can't remember them all but was that shortlist the one with Chace Crawford? I think I was Team Kransinski and Team Ackles (lolwut) on that one.
Umm Ok. So now you want the woman fired cause she's not the age you want her to be????Please don't tell me you didn't say it but you may as well have. I also did not bring her up as the shining example of age. Some one else posted about her I was just saying it's silly all this age crap. I'm not advocating for a 50 year old woman to be cast as Carol but I'm saying I don't have a problem with someone being 37 like Chastain taking the role.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be allowed to continue complaining about decrepit old people stinking up your movies for as long as you like.
Until you become one, anyway, and they take away your keyboard before your brittle fingers begin to snap like stale pretzels.

In the midst of all that, another poster and I were lamenting the fact that Chris Evans was "ineligible" since he was the Human Torch, so I was beyond thrilled when he swooped in and saved us from that mess, lol.

Paul Rudd is like 45 or something, where are all the complaints about his age? Benedict Cumberbatch is 38, why not complain about how many sequels he can do?

I believe the excuse is "Those guys won't be performing intensive stunts like lifting tanks."
Yeah.
It is deeply depressing that people would dismiss a perfectly good and fit actress because she is over the age of 35. According to everything I've read they really should be casting someone around that age. And I know you guys aren't exaggerating with how some on here like classify actresses as over the hill as soon as they are gasp, almost 40!You know the reason why ISS. It's apparent in the comments posted here. Remember... Casting super fit actresses that are beautiful and talented but closing in on 40 like Michelle Monaghan or Theron or Chastain is EXACTLY like casting 70 year old Anne Margret for the role. IT'S THE EXACT SAME THING. This isn't exaggeration. I've had this come up in posts here... But it has NOTHING to do with gender. By the by, I have acquired the deed to the Brooklyn Bridge... Is anyone interested in buying it?
I get the idea, I just don't buy it and find your hand-wringing about it overwrought.
And for some reason you keep going back to Theron as if she's the boards #1 pick when most people don't even have her in their top 5.

The problem isn't Theron, the problem is myopic casting based on an arbitrary standard that so far, isn't being applied to the casting of any male superhero role in the MCU.

If Rudd and Cumby can bag these roles at their ages there is no way in hell I'd complain about any of those talented and beautiful women playing a Superhero.
False, People would have cared too if they were casting a 40 year old Captain America or Thor , and Captain Marvel is comparable to those roles rather than Doctor Strange who is just gonna stand around and recite spells
No... I mean like ACTUAL maturity, like you are obviously under the age of 21 and don't have a clue about what you speak of and pull out these pretty ridiculous rationales that don't in any way pass the smell test. Point blank, if this wasn't a female, lead role, the age issue wouldn't even be a factor. All the foolishness about how it's such a taxing physical role and how older actors get bored (are you a psychic?) are frankly, just that. Foolishness. But it sounds like the foolishness of somebody that is WAY young, with a nice dash of unequal standard for men as opposed to women.
Then why did they not cast a 40 year old Captain America or Thor? Answer that?
