While I think that Stone is by no means irreplaceable, Winter is nowhere near her level of charisma. Although charisma should be more of a concern of MJ`s actress.

I think Liz was boring love interest.

Liz Allen was pretty uninteresting. As I said on the other thread, they could play on this though, by making her purposefully and comically irritating: you could have both Peter and Flash pining over for this girl, only for neither of them to end up with her. You could even have Flash and Peter start bonding over getting over this especially annoying girl. And it would avoid the whole focus-on-the-love-story they are reportedly intending on staying away from.

Besides, these High School romances are usually ill-fated anyway, no reason it couldn`t be a joke.

It was actually Mary Jane. A version of MJ that was heavily influenced by Liz's characterization in early SM comics (like Raimi's MJ was in SM1).

Mention her through movie couple of times, mostly in convo with Aunt May and just show here at the end of the movie with scene "tiger, you just hit jackpot" preparing for sequel.

I like Betty much better too, but since they are going for a High School Peter, I don`t see them going for an adult secretary as a love interest. Down the line, with Peter already in college, I`d love to see Betty.

I had altered Liz's story to make her the daughter of Roderick Kingsley, whom Norman wants to set up with Harry. Maybe she could wind up falling for Peter instead, but it seems like people here have had enough of the romantic drama. I say just have him in a healthy relationship with Gwen, and leave the drama out of it for a while.

Agreed. We should get some friendship-building moments too (be it with Flash, Harry, or whoeverelse), instead of just having Peter and Harry fighting over MJ. Let`s please not revisit that quarrel.

She had a lucky escape. Most people won't in any way associate her with TASM2. Though I Would be interested in seeing her cut scenes, I'm not sure she'd be appropriate for MJ now since they are casting a younger Peter apparently.
