Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 1

Sorry, sandman isnt as interesting or story driven as people seem to want him to be.

He actually is though. He only reverted back to thug because Status Quo is God. In the finite length of a movie, he'd be great the way TSSM show did him. If they do him right, he can carry a movie.

Course, they said for the first movie they'd be doing villains we haven't seen yet, so I'm not sure why this matters so much.

I said it before their is plently of guys with the right story could be a compelling and good film.

As for oscorp no their is no reason they have to be tied to any other villains besides the various green goblins. Everyone should be without ties to oscorp. But then over time get connected via sinister 6 or dealing with spidry, or just plain trying to rob oscorp.

And the various Goblins should never orchestrate, join, or have anything to do with the Sinister Six.

no he can't carry a film on his own.. you're comparing a half hour TV show to a film that's about 4 times the length....

and i never want a "good" or morally ambigous sand-man that you feel sorry for again... he sucked in Spidey 3

id prefer it that way as well... unless Norman is putting the team together.. im ok with that... but i wouldn't want him as the goblin being part of that team

They can still make it work. I want a Sandman with flaws, who sees those flaws and tries to make up for them, and in the end realizes that he doesn't have to be a criminal.

But I don't want him to be able to absorb sand like in TSSM and SM3. That makes him waaaaay over powered.

yeah no.. i don't want that at all, not again.

Sandman has always been able to absorb Sand. He's made of jt, so that kinda comes with the power set. And regardless, he's still a very powerful villain.

Yeah, not a fan of that. Although I'm not sure "always" is accurate, because his first appearance did not involve absorbing sand.

Besides, there's a clear explanation for him not able to absorb more sand. Because the sand he's made of is special, radioactive-or-whatever sand, non-radioactive-or-whatever sand won't work.

And it doesn't make sense that he would "lose" bits of sand as he mentioned in TSSM. If he can control their movement, a grain of sand shouldn't ever leave him.

Well okay, regardless he's still highly a. dangerous shapeshifter.

How would you all feel if they used Hydro-Man as the main villain in the solo film?

Edit: Just throwing his name out there since it seems that he hasn't really been discussed.

This summer, watch as Spider-Man faces his greatest challenge yet...

Wet Sandman!!

That would probably be the Honest Trailers version. The creator of the 90s Spider-Man cartoon said about the same thing too; he didn't have Sandman because Hydroman was too similar.

I wouldn't skip the movie since I don't expect the villain to be the star no matter what - they just need someone who will serve the plot (which is why I'd be fine with Vulture, for example). But Hydroman is definitely among the less interesting overall.

Actually there are lots of possibilities for Mysterio and the use of magic and illusions, and there are some pretty good history arcs with him and I'm pretty sure it would look really awesome visually.

I brought up point a few weeks back hydroman would be a cool and unique villain to use. On his powers and sfx shots. But he is such a so so villain more a muscle guy. I don't see him as leading villain.

I still want mysterio the most. As I said many times over. He is a totally different villain type then past 5 films. He has a great look and powers and story great for film. Plus since we know this isn't a full on original. Film. Mysterio with his hucciation gas or illusions would be a great way to organically throw a few nods and winks to origin stuff like spider bite and seeing ben.

John Malkovich would be the absolute best choice for Vulture.

Mysterio, Kraven, Vulture, Shocker, Kingpin, Hammerhead, Tombstone, or Scorpion. Gimme one of those, a new fresh face. And we'll be fine.

Hammerhead, I didn't consider that one. He'd be pretty cool. Although as much as I like to watch movies for the story, I'd like the movie to have some stunning visual effects as well, which rules out Kraven (unless he's the stupid were-Kraven) Kingpin, Tombstone, and Hammerhead.

Mysterio has a lot of possibilities, but Vulture's fights might be more exciting with the web slinging and the flying. Shocker would be a lot of fun, with the shock waves crushing the walls and stuff as Spider-Man leaps from spot to spot. Lastly, Scorpion might be visually interesting if he had an armored suit, but probably not as much as the others mentioned.
