Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

Would anyone object to having Scorpion be connected to the Spider-Slayers?

Nope. I've been pushing for that combo ever since way back when TASM3 was still happening :woot:

How long until we find out guys? They better not pull a Doctor Strange on us! We still don't know who Mads is playing :funny:

My picks-

Spider-Man 2017 - Kraven & Mysterio

Spidey 2 - Green Goblin

Spidey 3 - Sinister Six

I think they have a legitimate chance of setting up the Sinister 6 this time around by the third movie.

My ideal format:

Spider-Man (2017)- B villain at the beginning of the movie, A villain as the main villain, C villain as a "Rhino TASM 2" scene to end the movie off. Only this time have him finish the fight then swing off. Not overcrowded and only market the A and B villains. Save the C villain as a surprise for the end, someone like Shocker or the Chameleon. They could be hinted at during the movie.

Spider-Man (2019 or 2020?)- Have the movie start out with Spidey scooping up Flint Marko and Aleksei Sytsevich, SSM style, just as regular crooks. Have your main A class villain. Have Flint and Aleksei turn into the Sandman and Rhino at the end as an end of the movie battle.

Spider-Man (2021 or 2022?)- Enter Symbiotie. All 6 villains have been established, here's your sinister 6. Spidey gets his arse beat the first time. Bonds with symbiotie and takes on the Sinister 6 with ease. Venom cliffhanger.

Very generic outline, but it could work.

I actually wrote a 6 film outline that went in depth with who and why i picked those villians, the storyline, mcu ties etc etc. If anyones interested I could post it here. They were written 2012 though, before ASM came out, and kinda ruined some of the villians.

Ernsth for scorpion personally no I wouldn't want to see him tied to spider slayers. They should be two separate things. They should keep though jjj is behind or funds both. And they both backfire on him and leads to those villains having beef on jjj. And leads to them going after him and spidey having to save his hide. And you know jjj be ticked on that.

Joe I said that for ages. Let's do 2 foes per first and second films. A head villains and a more minor support guys. By end if 1st and second those 4 villains are in jail. And by 3rd film rolls around 5th member breaks the other 4 out of job for the leader who be revealed to be ock who maybe was a minor background player in one of the other films. And you have a set up and easy plot line for 3rd films right there. No need to make s6 be a separate film.

Barry I am sure we will know who the villain is before filming starts. There is no reason to keep spidey villain a secret. More so we have to know who it is. Same goes once on location filming gets under way and actors are in costume. It be pretty hard to cover x villain at that point.

This is a little (a lot) overwhelming for me. Three villains in the first movie?

Listen, Sony needs to slow down this time. Tom Holland is 19. They can easily have him as spider-man for round about 15 years if he's up for it. That's easily 2 trilogies. Just to give you an idea of what I mean:

Spider-Man (2017) Mysterio/Chameleon
Spider-Man 2 (2019) Kraven
Spider-Man 3 (2021) Green Goblin/Vulture
Spider-Man 4 (2023) Shocker/Venom
Spider-Man 5 (2025) Doc Ock
Spider-Man 6 (2027) Sinister Six [Tom Holland is 30 playing a recent college grad]

They never have to have more than two villains imo. In fact they shouldn't. They've yet to prove they can do more than one villain in the same film justice. One major villain, one side villain maximum.

You're welcome Sony. Just put $5 billion in your pocket over 10 years.

I wouldn't mind seeing it. Tweak it for the new reboot.

Are you pairing up Vulture with Goblin/Or as a solo villain?

I'm not sure how I'd do that based on villians and other things in it, I'll post the first movie here and then give bullet points on what I'd change.

Okay here it is. This was written in 2011 (I was 16), holy crap, that was longer than I thought. The Avengers only had a trailer and the universe has changed so much since then and the ASM franchise hadn't even started.....I'm going to post the first movie unchanged with my explanations at the end. There is a quick origin story and a villian used previously but bear with it.
Then I'll add bullet points on what should/could be changed to update it to the MCU as of 2016.

FYI, This is pretty long....

The Spetacular Spider-man

The movie starts in a SHEILD interagation room with 16 year old Peter and Nick Fury talking. Peter has come to SHEILD for help with Norman Osborn, who is threatining him and his aunt and girlfriend. Fury asks Peter to explain how he got his powers and in a few brief flashbacks of the spider biting a nerdy, spotty Peter at Oscorp industries, him discovering his powers (like climbing his bedroom wall, dodging Flash Thompson as he swings for Peter) Trying to earn money as a wrestler, letting the robber escape, the death of Uncle Ben, a quick swing after the robber, catching him and realising it was the guy he let go and then finally donning the proper suit and fighting crime. All this within the first 10 minutes.
Then Nick asks what's happining with Norman Osborn and then maybe another 10 minutes showing Osborn injecting himself with Oz and becoming stronger and faster but losing his mind and becoming insane. He knows Peter is Spider-man because the spider that bite him was genetically engineered with Oz. Osborn had been watching Peter to see how he developed and decided to use it on himself. 4 months after being bitten, Peter is called to Osborns Penthouse where Norman is waiting for him in his goblin costume with his new mode of transport, the glider. He tells Peter that he works for him now and will do what he tells him otherwise his family and friends would die. Peter leaves and is terrified and doesn't know what to do so finally asks for help. He sees the news footage of The Avengers and SHEILD fighting the alien invasion and decides to ask them for help.

It's at this point I should probably mention that Norman Osborn/Green Goblin would be a mixture of 616 and Ultimate version. To begin with he is akin to 616, donning a goblin costume, flying about on his glider, throwing pumpkin bombs and the like. But as he takes more and more Oz he starts to deform, develop the likes of horns and ridges on his back until before the final battle with Spidey he takes injection after injection until he's similar to the Ultimate version.

Anyway after those flashbacks, Fury tells Peter that he'll have to do this on his own, but that SHEILD and himself would be keeping a very watchful eye on him and whenever Osborn attacks, SHEILD would help within moments. Peter, frustrated but tired and kind of relieved, heads home. He swings across the NYC skyline and is almost hime when he sees somebody robbing a jewellry store.
He swings down to stop it when he notices it's Shocker. Shocker immediantly attacks with Spidey dodging and quipping all the way ("Who you supposed to be? 'The Vibrator?'?" and "Wow, the only shocking thing about you is your awful dress sense, and those gauntlet thingys...") Cheeky and cheesy jokes to show his immaturity.

One of the things the Ramni movies sort of ignored unfortunatly, was Spidey and his amazing wit and how he pisses off a lot of his enemies by cracking jokes and throwing mild insults at them. Love that about the comics and would love to see it on screen.

Like Goblin, Shocker is a mixture of Ultimate and 616. The costume is a rough version of the 616 and obviously made in a rush and he is usually defeated easily like in the Ultimate universe.

So after Shocker is dealt with and hanging from a lamppost by his feet, Peter heads home and Aunt May is waiting for him. It's 2:00am on a school night and she isn't impressed. Peter, unable to come up with a good excuse (Aunt May has called the Daily Bugle and Gwen to see if he was there), is grounded and set to him room, where he takes off the suit and packs it away in a suitcase under his bed, along with his web shooters.

Next morning, Peter is getting ready for school and is shown packing his suit and web shooters into his school bag. As he's eating breakfast, Aunt May tells him to be home by 9:00am and he's only allowed to go to school or the Bugle.

As he's walking to school he meets up with Gwen and they kiss. Peter tells her about last night and how he's now under watch from SHEILD and grounded.

Once they arrive at school and walking through the halls, Flash floors him and then starts laughing at him, calling him names etc. Beside him is Kong, also laughing and wearing a T-shirt with spideys face on it.

In class, Peter has fallen asleep and the teacher wakes him up. The other students laugh as Flash fires a spitball at him from behind. Right now it's obvious Peter is miserable in school.

Outside the school during lunch, Peter and Gwen meet up with Harry Osborn. Harry invites them both around to his penthouse and tells Peter that his dad would like a chat with him. The pressure from meeting with Norman Osborn again, Flash bullying him at school, fighting crime as Spider-man and the lack of sleep he's been having recently all comes to the surface and then comes the final straw when Flash hits him on the head with a football. As Flash and friends laugh, Peter takes the ball and bursts it. Angry, Flash squares up to Peter and throws a punch at him. Peter dodges and gives him a right hook that sends him flying. As he lies on the floor crying and clutching his face, Peter realises what he's done and even tries to apologize to Flash as he's led off by a teacher to the Headmasters office. Gwen, Harry, Kong and the rest are shocked as the school nurse tends to Flash.

Peter is driven home by his aunt who looks hurt, angry and worried. Peter has been suspended for a week for breaking Flash Thompsons jaw. May asks him what is wrong with him. He is unable to explain and just says he isn't feeling well. He asks to go to his room and May allows him.

Upstairs he is doing his homework and looking up facebook (only has 4 friends) and some nerdy RPG game. Suddenly his spider sense goes off. He's torn between obeying Aunt Mays orders and helping innocent people but ultimately decides stopping bad guys is more important.

He swings off and ends up fighting the Goblin, who's flying about and cackling about how he tricked "Baby Spider" and starts throwing pumpkin bombs about the place. Peter manages to land a few decent blows before the goblin manages to pin him down and sinisterly laughs and tells him he wants him to kill certain people. Peter asks why he can't do it himself and Goblin tells him it'd hurt Peter a lot and be a hell of a lot more effective if a super'hero' goes around murdering. He wants to wreck Peters life and reputation as Spider-man so gives him the first name "Mac Gargan" and flies off promising to break Aunt May and Gwen if he refused.

Peter goes home defeated and is unable to get to sleep again. In the morning he awakes to Aunt May crying at the kitchen table. Flash Thompsons parents have threatened to sue her if she doesn't pay the $3,500 hospital bill. Peter feels sick again, lost and unsure what to do.

Later that night he goes off to the Daily Bugle and on the way there, Norman Osborns limo pulls up. He doesn't offer a lift to the Bugle, he orders Peter into the limo. Afraid of what he'll do to his loved ones, Peter accepts and inside, Norman Osborn tells him he has till this time tomorrow to kill Mac Gargan or Aunt May will be tossed off the Brooklyn Bridge. He also goes on to compare his duel life as spider-man and mocks him, telling him he'd never have been as good as the likes of Captain America and Iron Man. This really gets to Peter and he's left angry and terrified.

At the Bugle, he hands over his photos of Spider-man to J.J and gets to work on the Bugles website. While working he decides to type in Mac Gargan. He searches google and finds "Gargan Investigators" He learns Mac Gargan is a private investigator and has been snooping around Osborn industries for a 'client'.

After work, Peter swings by Gargans house to check him out. Gargan is reading a bedtime story to two young children as his wife stands in the doorway smiling. They all look happy. Peter is confused and outraged he's been ordered to kill not only a innocent person, but somebody who has so much to live for and also does some good in the world. Peter leaves, determined to stop Green Goblin tomorrow tonight.

The next morning, Peter wakes up to find Aunt May happy and holding a wad of cash. She says it came in the post this morning and had a note attatched. It's from Norman Osborn, saying Harry told him about the situation and thought he should help. Aunt May told Peter she'd remove the curfew for tonight so he can go around to the Osborns and thank him personally. Peter nods and leaves. He heads to Gwens and they kiss. He explains what's going on and they come to the decison that Peter should lure Osborn out as the goblin and then SHEILD will finally be able to intervene.

Meanwhile Harry walks into Normans office to talk to him and is chased out by his father, who has looks human apart from getting taller, sharper teeth, horns on his forehead and ridges down his back. Harry traumatised, runs away out of the apartment. Norman opens up a glass case of Oz vials and injects them into him one after the other.

Later on Spider-man arrives at the Osborns penthouse to witness Osborn mutate into a larger goblin. He cackles and laughs getting incresingly violent. Peter asks why he sent money to Aunt May to pay for Flash Thompsons bill and Osborn says "I'll look after you as long as you do what I say!"

Peter tells him he hasn't killed Gargan and never will to which Osborn goes beserk and grabs Peter and smashes him out the window. They both topple towards the ground. Spidey fires a web upwards and springs out of the goblins grip. Osborn grabs at the wall of the building and digs his claws in, slowly coming to a stop. He and Spidey then have an all out brawl across the rooftops of NYC. SHEILD helicopters fly in, determinted to help Spider-man but Gobling takes them down one by one. The chase ends at Brooklynn bridge where Goblin grabs Spidey by the throw and crushes one of his web shooters. He rips off Peters mask and tells him he's going to die and after he's gone, Aunt May and Gwen are next along with anyone else he wants to kill.

Peter, enraged by this breaks free of the goblins grip and starts to deliver a beatdown on his ass, using the likes of uppercuts and flying kicks to give powerful blows. Finally he kicks Goblin off the bridge and watches as he tumbles to the water. At the last minute, Peter acknowledges that no matter what Norman has done, he can't kill him because he's not a killer. He fires a web line with his web shooter and saves the goblin at the last mintue. Suddenly SHEILD arrives with more copters and Nick Fury steps out. He tells Peter that he didn't need SHEILDS help at all and just took down his very first supervillan. Peter watches as they load Osborn/Goblin into a portable prison, designed to contain the likes of the Hulk and take him to prison. Peter swings by the Osborn penthouse to find Harry but he's missing.

Later, Peter arrives at Gwens and they kiss passionatly and they celebrate the goblins custody. But then Peter hears a police siren and Gwen tells him to go and kick another bad guys ass. He swings off after the police cars.

The final scene features Mac Gagan coming home from work. He's raving about the fight between Spider-man and Green Goblin but it's horrified to find his wife and kids brutally murdered. He's hurt and doesn't know what to do. He finds a letter addressed to him from Norman Osborn. Norman says Spider-man and the Goblin both killed his family and were also sent to kill himself and by the time Gargan reads this, he'll be dead. Gargan loses it, trashes the place, covers his familys bodies and then goes out looking for revenge on Spider-man...

So ends my first Spider-man movie..........

So updates/changes/problems
  • First thing you'll note, is SHIELD is still on the level it as it is in The Avengers - Winter Soldier. And Nick Fury is still Director. This could be changed in several ways 1) It could still be SHIELD, but Coulson (and maybe one or two of the AoS cast) take the place of Fury (But still a problem as it's Peter who goes looking for help)....or 2) Just no SHIELD, Peter can't go to anyone for help. Maybe he could try to swing by Avengers tower, but they are out on a mission, or disbanded or just not home etc...which could feel like a cop out. And at the end we could have those cameos that are currently rumoured. Iron Man or Cap or another Avenger show up to take Osborn away. They say well done and stuff etc...a call back to what happened in Civil War etc etc...

  • Green Goblin/Norman Osborn is the big villian. So, yea...like I said this was way before TASM 2 came out and gave us another goblin, a third one in the first movie of the reboot would be boring. But based on everything I've written here and for the future movies, there's really nothing I could do...it has to be Norman...sucks but hopefully it'd be a much better version than the previous movies.

  • As you can see, I squeezed 3 "villains" into the movie. Shocker just a little more than a petty criminal near the start.
The proper BIG BAD being the Goblin and finally a tease as Mac Gargan sets out for revenge. I actually do this for the rest of the movies on a similar system.

  • It is a pretty close adaption of the Ultimate arc in the comics. Back then I decided to start downloading them onto my iPad and quickly lost all money I made/had. :whatever: So maybe it's too close of an adaption for you guys.

  • SHIELD not acting on the Osborn situation is also in that arc..it's something to do with civil liberties etc..while that stops them premeptively doing anything in the comic, the MCU SHIELD for what we know now and what Fury would do, probably wouldn't abid by those laws...so another reason would be needed.

  • MCU references. So a tie into the larger universe as a whole would be pretty easy. I'd make a mention at some point that everyone know where they were and what they were doing when Aliens invaded NY. For Peter, it would be out in the backyard playing ball with Uncle Ben. The events of Civil War would have a major knock on effect for Peter, so his stance and what he did during that movie would have to tie in. I'd make a reference to the Netflix characters as well, as they occupy the same space...like perhaps Spider-Man went looking for DD for help but either couldn't find him or something happens on his show that prevents him from doing so. And like I said, Coulson/SHIELD could take the place of Fury if that particular thread stayed in. And the cameos of an Avenger could also happen, seeing as that seems much more possible than I previously thought.

  • Origin story. Again, this was before we saw ASM and the origin story for the second time. I'd cut it drastically, with no flashbacks this time, with Peter giving the basic plot points quickly. The flashback of Norman blackmailing Peter would take precedent and stay in.
  • Other things like a few cheesy/cliche moments could be tweaked.

Obviously, they'll probably go a different route considering all that's transpired over the past 5 years, but that was well written either way.

They could easily have 3 foes in film and not make it forced or to crowded. Like 1 could be like norman or ock for example as a back round player pulling strings on things and we see doing shady or bad deals. Then someone like shocker for example as a opening bond style scene or middle of the film montage scene of spidey taking out baddies and what not. Then you can have who ever is the main villain doing there thing.

As for how Manu solos we see. That is really depends on how well each solo is. Then what ever type of contract tom has with marvel/sony for the role. Yes minimum he likely has a 3 picture solo deal rifht now. But likely I bet a side deal for non solo team films with marvel likely to be another 3 to 4 pictures. I can't see him just 3 films and thst it. As we know marvel for example likes to lock in actors for 6 pics the norm. Tom could still easily end up playing the role for 10+ yrs.

Yea, I had 6 fully planned out like the first one I posted, with an outline of a 7th and 8th...we'd likely never get that many movies for on character due to contracts, time restraints etc. One of my current problems within my own ideas, after rereading them, is the very tight timeline between them...with weeks to 6 months only passing between each movie...Tom Holland would be early 30's by the time they were all theoretically done. I also rely on SHIELD a lot, which now, is kinda "uh oh...now who fills the gap".
As for villians behind the scenes....I had Kingpin as that in several movies.

Ya I bet we likely get 4 solonfilms. Then maybe 4 team films tom appears in. Then by then he either leaves role or reps for additional 1 to 3 pics like robert has. But we have no clue to we even have 1 solo out and how audience takes to actors and how successful or not they are.

My example was a bit crammed because it was over the span of 3 movies. I doubt they'll be making 6 with Tom, but it's always a possibility.

A big problem with your idea is getting those villains to sign up for multi-picture deals when the second picture is up to 10 years away. For example if you plan on using Mysterio or the Chameleon they'd be shooting in 2016 and again in 2026? I don't think any actor has ever signed up to shoot a multi-picture deal with that big of a gap. Same for Kraven, he'd be shooting in 2018 then again in 2026? It's just a MASSIVE scheduling conflict that I'm not sure some actors are willing to sign. Not to mention the aging problems. I like your idea of Tom being in his 30's and portraying a fresh out of college grad, but the rest of the cast? 10 years is massive for this type of continuity.

Well we do know almost all films more so these cbm the lead casts. And in case for spidey. Spidey a few if his supporting guys say harry, and mj/gwen/liz, and villain actors almost always sign a multi pic deal. Does that mean said villain actor be back for sequel now. But they have option to return when ever studio wants them back. Or the flip side is they sign deal and don't want to do more take in point red skull actor.

Are you pairing up Vulture with Goblin/Or as a solo villain?

Honestly that was just a template, and I only thought about it for about 5 min. But yea, solo villain with Norman Goblin showing up, identity a mystery (the way it shouldve been done in the ASM series).

I'm not sure how I'd do that based on villians and other things in it, I'll post the first movie here and then give bullet points on what I'd change.

Theres A LOT of really good stuff in here. I especially like the Nick Fury stuff tbh. I wish we had gotten that in ASM1. I dont need to see Goblin (or even enhanced Norman) in the first installment. Norman should be a slow burn throughout the series. We should learn to hate him and we should hate that we love him by association through Harry (who we care about). I mean, that would be ideal. They did an okay job at this in the Raimi trilogy.

Anyway, nice job. Thanks for sharing.

There's already some precedent. He got upgrdes from Smythe when Smythe was Spider-Slayer

Nope, Scorpion is supposed to be the Anti-Spider-Man, he being tied to the Spider-Slayers makes sense.

Would anyone object to having Scorpion be connected to the Spider-Slayers?

Nope. I've been pushing for that combo ever since way back when TASM3 was still happening :woot:

Ive been very publically saying this on the hype for years.... his entire origin and conception is pretty much spot on with the origin and conception of the Spider-Slayers.. just make him the "Ultimate" spider-slayer... robotics and biology combined... and it fits incredibly well.

Id love it if they used Kraven and Black Cat in the same film, but they would best used for a later sequel, when Peter is older. Kraven would be the main villain and she'd be the femme fatale

Ya I said it before for norman, ock, connors we don't need to see them as full fledged powered baddie in first film. And we already know will be case. But I still bet we will see at least norman un first film. To build up oscorp and notman. And over a few films see he is a bad guy and what breaks him and he turns into the goblin by 3rd film.

Anyone think they've even decided on a villain yet?
