Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

Chameleon and Mysterio could easily compliment each other well with Mysterio being the master of illusion and Chameleon being the master of disguise.

The possibilities of 'em together are endless in terms of storytelling, and would make Spider-Man's life a living Hell in terms of his always staggering public image. That's why it works for me.

Except mysterio cancels chameleons power set out... considering he can use disguises as well.... it renders Chameleon pointless.

It's kinda like putting sandman and hydroMan in a film together, or electro and shocker.. not the same powers but all similar conceptions

Oh I know there are people out there that can get scoops. I personally just like to hold out before I get something official. Strong rumors? I'll look into. But even then official means official.
Okay, so i'm guessing that you also don't really believe that Micheal Keaton is in talks to play the villain and that Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori have been cast in the movie because none of it is coming from Marvel's mouth themselves? Dude, that's never been how these things work. Casting news and info tidits are always going to be filtered through Trade sites, that's how it goes for practically 'Every' movie in Hollywood. You're going to be waiting another month and a half for Marvel themselves to officially announce the cast.

Yeah, exactly. I don't think Chameleon gets enough love, but I also think he's completely superfluous if Mysterio is there.

I think the original Sinister Six would be viable:
Doc Ock
Vulture
Kraven
Electro
Mysterio
Sandman

Maybe Chameleon can disguise himself as Mysterio, and Mysterio can disguise himself as Chameleon.

And then Chameleon disguises himself as Spider-Man and Mysterio ends up battling him, but then has the same idea and also disguises himself as Spidey, and Chameleon gets fooled too. In the end Spidey just watches from a distance while he lets Chameleon and Mysterio take each other out, each thinking they're fighting the real Spider-Man. :o

I think having them both would be confusing to everyone, like the movie, "Blame it on the Bellboy" where it ends up a complete comedy of errors because of three people with very similar sounding names staying in the same hotel and a bellboy who has trouble pronouncing those names so delivers the wrong packages to the wrong people.

I don't understand why he gets downplayed a lot.

Any character can be made compelling, threatening, etc, with a bit of elbow grease.
He needs to be reinvented, IMO. Fans treat him as a joke, because most writers treat him that same way.
But Mysterio has always had the potential to be something huge.

I mean didnt he kill like a bunch of people at one point?

Yeah, like I said in my post, those are heavy rumors. Those, I'll look into. What I'm mostly saying are scoops. I raise an eyebrow at those. And ironically enough, I work at Sony, so yes, I know what it means when trades report something lol.

Yeah.
I just think he has a lot of potential on offer. Illusions, delusions, deathtraps, etc. It would be a change of scenery in terms of villainy.

Doc Ock- The brains/leader.
Sandman- The creativity.
Electro- The flare.
Kraven- The cunning.
Mysterio- The deception.
Rhino- The brute strength.

That's my ultimate cast.

How I would set up this new Spidey franchise

Solo Film villain (Vulture)
Sequel villains (Green Goblin; primary; secondary villain Wilson Fisk/Kingpin)
3rd film villains (Mysterio; primary; secondary villain Shocker)

there's too many villains to fit into a franchise to get a full spidey feel.. so ...

9 films....

-1(Vulture & Scorpion) - tie it into the spider-slayer program and it introduces the bugle

-2(Crime Bosses. Kraven as an excentric head of the russian sect of the Maggia (great way to include Rhino, Hammerhead, and Chameleon as well) Kraven and Hobgoblin could be fun as the main villains... very "gang war" and you could intro Hobby first like they did in the animated series.. him stealing tech from oscorp could be the very reason Osborn becomes the goblin in the first place)

-3) Green Goblin

-4 Dock Ock and black cat, peter returns from the infinity war with the black costume

-5 Electro/Sandman

-6 Sinister Six

-7 Kraven's Last Hunt/ Lizard (peter nearly kills kraven, gets rid of the black suit)

-8 Venom

-9 (id wrap up the series by doing something akin of banding all his villains together.. maybe after the osborn baby or something) Peter and MJ can get married in this film as well

multiple villains can work really well as long as their stories and motivations can coincide.

I just hope we DO get the Green Goblin in one of these movies. We've still never gotten a Goblin that satisfied my fanboy sensibilities. I want a great Norman and a great GG. Preferably classic GG but unlike many I'm not opposed to a transformation/monster Goblin (though I doubt it would happen since that's what TASM2 did).

Am I the only one for The Vulture as the main villain for Homecoming? It's not like it's Big Wheel as the main villain. Totally down.

I think he could definitely work. Obviously have another villain in there so you can vary the fights up a little, but yeah

No. I have been pushing for Vulture in the first film pretty much since the deal was announced.

I'm glad to see Mysterio getting a lot of support here. It seems whenever there's somebody that against him being in a movie, that person really doesn't know too much about him and thinks that he's just simply illusions.

I think vulture is hard to do as a singular villain personally. I definitely think the Vulture/Scorpion combo works very well

I think Mysterio works best when he's working FOR someone.. like Kingpin or Osborn

it's just unfortunate that his best stories/most villainous actions have come from non spidey books...

-Guardian Devil
-Old Man Logan

Nope. I definitely want to see Vulture
Sweet. Good to see some supporters because haven't seen much as these pages go by lol.

I mean, we're not talking Red Skull in terms of gravitas, but something among the likes of Yellowjacket (that's a bad comparison, I know), or a bit more than that.

Probably someone stronger than Yellowjacket and Ronan the Accuser. I could see Vulture having a threatening presence with his wings, picturing them way bigger than Falcon's, and of course, the fact that an OLD guy has the ability to be "young" again through the wings.

This is definitely fanboy wishing, but it'd be dope if Homecoming featured a quick takeaway thug villain in addition to Vulture. Nothing special though.

I mean the thing is they've been trying to do Vulture forever he was rumored for Spider-Man 4 and we saw concepts of him during the TASM3/Sinister 6 days. And then they have Michael Keaton rumored in talks as a villain who looks like he would make a great Vulture. Because let's be truthful to ourselves he's not gonna be playing one of the younger villains like Kraven or Mysterio...unless they age them up. Becaus again Keaton is pretty old guys. Older than Bryan Cranston, who people wanted as Norman.

Then there's the John Hughes vibe. The John Hughes films I've seen usually involve young vs old. Not to mention the most recent rumors of Vulture. I mean...yeah maybe I'm over analyzing. I'm not a mind reader. I can't see into the future. I honestly don't care who the villain is or how many villains there are because I come for Spidey first and foremost. But if it were to happen, would anyone really be suprised?
