The Rise of Skywalker Who Should Direct Episode IX?

This is not even close to being an accurate statement.

And, for the record, Lucas has made four good to excellent Star Wars films, having essentially ghost-directed Return of the Jedi.

Hope you're not saying TPM or AOTC is good or excellent. I'll give you leeway for ROTS. But what's the fourth? ESB was Kershner.

Lucas is a worse choice than Trevorrow. Far worse. Sorry.

The creator of this franchise - the one person who knows it better than anyone else on this planet - is not "worse" than a guy who couldn't stay on target and manage to work with the individuals that were hand-selected to shepherd and safeguard it.

They need to crawl back to Trank and beg him to direct. Only way this mess of a series gets salvaged.

The four "good to excellent" films I cited are Revenge of the Sith (excellent), Attack of the Clones (very good), Return of the Jedi (very good), and ANH (good).

This reminds me of a certain argument for Trank and another movie series that is now ready for its third reboot.

And there goes your credibility...

You sound like a passionate SW fan, just like me, we have that in common. But trust me, bringing back Lucas would be a Death Star-sized mistake. He lost it some time ago (even admits it in recent interviews).

Attack of the Clones IS a very good film, and stating so has zero effect on my "credibility".

This dialogue is over.

What credibility?

I'd be good with Howard. Just get someone legit. I am not a fan of how the Lord and Miller situation went, but Trank, Voldemort and Edwards all felt like unnecessary risk.

Kathy and co should definitely have been gunning for someone of Ron's generation from the start with the ST. Hell, Lucas should have followed through with his original instincts and given Ron the Prequels. The guy's talented enough and worked within the Lucasfilm family that I think he'd be a real suitable pick.

I'd love for Spielberg to do Star Wars with Kennedy/Williams. And cast Richard Dreyfuss as a General.

Somebody elsewhere suggested Dave Filoni, to which I say "hell yeah". If you can't get "The Maker" (Lucas), get his "Padawan Learner".

I agree on Howard. If they had attached him to IX or Han Solo from the start, it would have been great. Especially IX, as it has an obvious tradition to follow.

Whoecer Luxasdilm picks is fine with me.
It isn't going to be superstar anyway.
Reliable, but not a super famous director.

Dreyfuss would need to be a bar owner or mechanic on Jakku or something.

They are not going to close out the trilogy with a first time director.

Lucas is retired and not coming back.

I wouldn't mind Dave Filoni, but I think that's too much for him for his first live-action feature. I'd rather he start with something else first before he made the jump to a live-action Star Wars feature.

Ideally it would be Brad Bird or Duncan Jones.

If Ava Duvernay passed on Black Panther because of lack of creative control. Not sure she'll sign up for Star Wars. Especially the end of the trilogy. Maybe if it was the first one.

I would like to think it matters, but it honestly doesn't. Kennedy and Disney will either find a "name" who'll play the game, or a pliable hired gun that they can mold onto their banal vision for Star Wars.
