He can use psychological stuff and still not have a personal connection
I'd rather see Scorpion and the Vulture before Mysterio. Never really been a big fan of his
Why you not like Mysterio?
I'd rather see Scorpion and the Vulture before Mysterio. Never really been a big fan of his, Joaquin Phoenix would make a good Quentin Beck though.
I guess it depends on who you define "psycological attacks". It can't be anything personal, bcause then Mysterio would have to know Peter. But his usage of fear and mind tricks, optical illusions and such all count as psychological attacks, to me. They just aren't personally directed at Spidey until the end, when Mysterio knows he's coming for him.But does a villain who the hero has never met before, but uses psychological warfare to try to break the hero's spirit count as a personal foe?
Deny Mysterio the ability to use psychological warfare and you take away the best weapon he has. Mysterio is not as powerful as Spider-Man, so the best tool he has is williness to use any cruel trick to win. Mysterio is an adult and Spider-Man would still be a child at this point, Mysterio relying on smoke bombs and generic illusions makes him far less dangerous, Mystery trying to destroy a teenage Spider-Man's fragile psyche is far more ruthless then just then just sticking him in a haunted house or something.
If Mysterio is unsympatheticin this film, would he be just some jerk or a real monster? If Mysterio is more then just a jerk shouldn't he be totally ruthless? Why wouldn't he use psychological warfare to win?
Really if Mysterio is just a jerk, how he would he and his rivalry with Spider-Man be compelling at all? Why deny Mysterio the ability to use every nasty trick in the book to win? You are tying his hands behind his back if you don't let him pull out all the stops to win.
I definitly hope they plan on doing more than a trilogy. With someone this young, there's no reason to limit him.Well, I'm not one of those people who thinks just because they cast a young actor that there will be 4-5-6 movies. The furthest I'm willing to predict would be a Trilogy. So for me, I'd like to see them roll out the big guns. I don't necessarily have anything against some of the lesser known villains but if there is only going to be 3 movies I want to see major players, regardless of whether they have been used before or not (besides, none of them have been impressive to me anyway).
Green Goblin (Norman), Doc Ock, Venom and Carnage are the villains I want to see the most. Kraven and Lizard would be my second tier. The rest I'm lukewarm or indifferent on, couple others I don't like at all.
I'd also stay away from Harry becoming Goblin at any point, it's not as interesting to me. When Norman is done, let Goblin be done. Leave Harry as a supporting character, not a villain.
Doctor Octopus needs some shine.
Yeah, I'm hoping that we see him again sooner rather than later. It's been eleven years since S-M2 and I don't think the issue of overuse is there with him as it is with the Osborns/Green Goblin.

Actually that would be my ideal choice for a first villain but nobody seems to agree lol

Oh yes. I think enough time has passed since Spider-Man 2 that it doesn't feel like we've just seen him recently, unlike the Goblins who have been done to death. They need a long hiatus.
I love Doc Ock, but I'd rather have him as a supporting character for most of the trilogy before he goes full-evil.
And no getting him into Peter's body, either.
I think Norman and Harry are obligatory characters to have in the reboot since the beginning, but their aliases are not. We can have the Osbornes without the Goblins.
Doc Ock is not the supporting character type, unless you mean him as Dr. Otto Octavius in a support role until he becomes Doc Ock.
There's as much chance of that happening as there is of Ben Reilly being Spider-Man.
Personally I don't care if the Osborns are there or not, just as long as we don't get a third round of the Goblin storyline in less than 15 years.
I know. And thank heavens for that. I just had to take a cheap shot at what was a horrible idea to begin with (even though the execution was quite impressive).
On a side-note, Joker, great new avatar (it might be old though, I've been away for a couple of months). Nicholson's Joker just isn't appreciated enough.
I loved it. Superior Spider-Man is the most I've enjoyed the Spidey comics in years. The Spider-Man writers have always shown glimpses and parallels of how Otto and Peter are mirror images of each other. It was great to see it finally taken to the maximum. It was a gamble of an idea, but it paid off big time I think.
Thank you. Yeah I love all the live action Jokers. From Romero to Ledger. All represent different interpretations of the Joker. All valid in their own way.
Hammerhead I would see more as a secondary or henchmen type ole.
I want him, just not as the first villain.
I'd rather someone fun to start out, like Mysterio or Vulture. Save Doc Ock for the epic last villain of the trilogy, IMO.
I would expect that to be Goblin tbh
