Because, she's kirsten dunst playing a character with red hair entitled MJ. She is the love interest to Tobey macguire's character, peter parker.

That is why people hate kirsten... because her role and relationships are just that plan/ straightforeward. People would like have seen an actress the better emboidied the spirit and essence of the character of MJ we knew from the comics, and her relationship with Peter Parker, aka/ spiderman.

not to cause offense or anytihng orlando, but the MJ in the movies was supposed to be a sort of cross between gwen (comics) - the sensitive, caring spirit and MJ (comics)- the care-free, extrovert soul.

to be honest, i would like gwen to die...it would jsut be right. but i wouldn't mind mj dying- to create that sense of empathy.

man, thats gonna be a hell of a plot point to disguise. if there is a bridge battle...we all know whats going to follow!

Columbia is keeping a tight lid on the third movie's story line, though it is known that Gwen is the third part of a love triangle and that the character does survive.
