Who Watches the Critics? The Critic Response Thread

To add to project862006's question, Do you feel that Adrian gives them the same beat down as in the comic?

I have a quick question.

I read the Latino Review; review and it says that Sally gets naked.

Is this true? And if so, what scene? Cause I never rembembered her being naked in the GN(only in the Tijuana Bible :cwink:)

I asked this before but it wasn't really answered; how was Rorschach's last scene?

(Thanks to Spyder for answering my question)

How funny is the movie, does it have a lot of laughs?

is the rorschach/Dan/Adrian/ fight ridiculous ?

It is not "ridiculous". It's pretty cool. Not the best fight in the movie but its up there. Adrian CAN fight and though people have been complaining about the actor being to thin or not fit enough you see Adrian has his own fighting style. A smarter style of fighting rather than just "strength". Body type does not effect the movie or fights.

The only time i recall her being the closest thing to naked is in the rape scene. And the TJ bible is pretty graphic.

Movie has PLENTY of laughs. Some in and some out of the novel.

It's hard to explain and it is pretty much as it was in the novel but with the added touch of Night Owl being there.

I'm glad that it was structured that way in the film. I always thought a little reinforcement of Dan and Kovacs friendship wouldn't of hurt the GN.

Sorry if you answered this question already or not Spyder07 but did you think that added touch of Dan's reaction towards Kovacs death made it better/as good as the GN/or detrimental to the overall scene? Also feel free to inject your own personal opinion.

When i read that part of the novel my exact reaction was "that cant be it, whos gonna tell dan?" i even flipped to the next page hoping he was just teleported somewhere else.

In the film it was exactly that a "reinforcement". Much like when Kenobi is "killed" by darth vader and Luke see's. And much like star wars it builds Dans with rage and he rushes back in after Adrain.

Was the aftermath of New York as graphic as it was in the book?

Does Adrian say "It was Me" at any point? That's a title on the score soundtrack right now, so it has me worried.

Spyder, does Adrian live? Please God I hope he does.

It's better to know beforehand than sitting there surprised.

PyroChamber another guy who saw it over at WCM says Rorschach death is one of the most powerful scenes in the movie

I am LOVING what I have heard about the compromised ending...where
Dan confronts Veidt, but Adrian survives when Dan realizes it's pointless
. That is going to be an amazing moment int he film.

Ok....I understand the story isn't ALL about action---however, will people like myself be satifsfied with the amount of cool fight scenes i.e.--are they plentyful and are they done well?

You know will it satifsfy the dope in me who is like 'Duhhh too much talking...more fighting!'.......gawd LoL I sound like a caveman dont I?

I just now thought to ask this. Is it better than The Dark Knight?

After watching the Prison scene...it will. There should be...if i'm correct, 4 actual fights. Laurie/Dan in the ally, Rorschach Vs. Cops, Prison Break, and Watchmen vs Veidt.

Come to think of it, this is the first major comic movie to be released post-tdk, isn't it?

No doubt many of reviews will compare it in that vein. Whatever one thought of TDK, there's little doubt that for the masses the benchmark has been set for serious comic book films.

Watchmen is a genre of it's own I think. I'll hate it when people say, "it's this year's TDK."

WRONG!

I don't really think the two films are comparable. The tone is very different, the story telling is very different, the characters, the span of time...it's all very much not like the dark knight. I'm sure people will compare it...but I wouldn't say it was better or worse than the dark knight. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

In some ways the dark knight takes itself very serious and watchmen is more aware of itself. It will hopefully not be like the hulk audience vs the dark knight audience. Cause it's not like that.

For anyone whos seen it, Is the line "I did it 35 min ago " in it? I hope its not like a battle of veidt pressing a button or not.
