The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Who would be the best MJ?

I would actually prefer that in TASM3 MJ is introduced as nothing more than a friend. Meaning that she doesn't yet get too involved in the whole story of Spiderman having to fight whomever (the Sinister Six). That also means that Peter's secret stays a secret.

So the MJ character wouldn't be a huge part of the movie the way Gwen has and will be. By TASM4 the friendship could start to move a bit as Peter will hopefully be coming to terms, possibly with MJ's help, with Gwen's death.

At the same time we need some sort of male-female thing going on and the best way to pull that off is Black Cat. Maybe in TASM3 it's just some flirtation. Of course this will always be with masks on, which will be intersting.

By TASM4 that relationship could be explored and become more. It could actually be used to create tension and jelousy for MJ if and when she finds out the secret.

If anything, scenes like this would be so much fun:

The point is that Black Cat will be the one flirting, so it won't come off as Peter being a jerk since Gwen just died. Move too fast into the MJ relationshop and you'll get that feel. But with Black Cat it's not Peter, it's Spiderman. And that's a fun concept that's never been done on screen.

Yeah I wasn't saying I wanted her nor that looks the part meant much. Solely stating that she could look like MJ.

people would agree because there's a lot more to 616 mj than just her looks. she wouldn't be around this long if that was all there was to her.

Now Winstead is 29, and I'll admit I was surprised by that, but like Andrew I don't think she looks her age:

Someone asked why I like Knapp, other than the fact that she's hot and fits the 616 concept of MJ. Well, it's because when I first saw her in Pitch Perfect she really stood out to me. Initially it was, of course, because of her looks. She has a 5'-9" dancers body, that matches what MJ should be. Further, her personality was sweet. When she said "cuticle carre and the e network" she came off very fun and loving (go watch Pitch Perfect if you haven't). Besides this, it makes sense that Webb would want up and coming actresses, and Knapp is exactly that. Pitch Perfect was her big start, but she's becoming more known. Cavemen, VampU, Super Fun Night, Project X and now Ground Floor.

But I also have to admit that Jennifer Lawrence could be an amazing choice! She's 23 and is such a big name, it could only help the franchise.

Lawrence is with Fox and the studio wont allow her to be MJ not to mention the comparissons and that they need to look a semi unknown actress.
Choosing a supermodel won't be happening according to ASM casting.
If you think she can't be a 20 year old girl in a movie you don't know hollywood then.

Many of them were worried with Garfield and then those who said that never done that again.

Lol. Back to the 616 vs. ultimate debate? Based on the comments that I've seen on these threads and on other websites, I think that most (obviously not all) people really like the 616 version of the character and the TSSM version too (which was basically a modern interpretation of Stan Lee's MJ). Brainy Jane from USM is a bit more...controversial I suppose, and I've only seen a couple people defend Raimi's MJ. That version gets a lot of hate.

I'm totally for her. She's talented, she's stunning, she's charismatic, I can totally see her pulling off the MJ attitude, and the fact that the next movie may jump ahead a few years means that her more 'mature' look (that some have been mentioning) wouldn't even be an issue. Not to mention, something about her is just soooo evocative of classic MJ.

I am calling it now Bryce Dallas Howard for MJ. When i saw her in 50/50, first thing that come in my mind was Mary Jane.

I could see her in that role and this scene as she plays friend and support to Peter after Gwen's death.
