Thor will need a power upgrade if he's going to take on the Phoenix force.

I wouldn't say upgrade, since he's been portrayed with varying power levels over the years so all they have to do is pick one where he's at his peak.

OOOOO that sound uber cool! Like RUNE Thor cool!

Really? Rune King Thor cool vartha?

True, I'd say only Rune King Thor would be the only one capable of going one on one.

On a related note, they mention Juggerlossus not being a problem for Thor, the latest cover revealed shows Red Hulk beating on Juggerlossus claiming to be the strongest there is, real Hulk needs to give Rulk another beating, remind him who is the strongest there is :woot:.

Very true, but the level of the Phoenix Force's powers fluctuate as well so I'm sure they aren't going to be at universe destroying level.

I agree on the Red Hulk and Hulk comment as well, real Hulk is definately the strongest there is and he needs to give Red Hulk another reality check.

New poster of Thor and Black Widow, I love their poses in this poster. :woot:

Well hell yeah, he gave that up to be reborn right? What if he's been able to tap the energies all along and just hasn't like he had for so many years before because he was a fraid of killing anyone?

You DO realise Rune Thor was the last Thor of vol 2, the helmet-less Thor all powerful right?

Yeah I know who Rune King Thor is, I damn near derailed the Hulk thread last week talking about him.

Lol

what gets me is the Beach towel for avengers is similar. Black Widow's doing a flying kick and lightning from Mjolnir is covering her crotch, like there Mjolnir's blocking the view again! :woot:
something there with Thor and black widow. Jane better act fast. lol

Lol
I would LOVE to see Rune Thor a Pheonix go against each other. Probably destroy the universe in the fight tho lol

Yeah that would be very awesome, I'm also pretty sure the universe would get destroyed or a good portion of it atleast.

So how do you guys feel about how Whedon mentioned about Thor in his latest interview?

The climax Whedon pitched Marvel was so enormous that it was apparent there wouldn't be enough time or money to pull it off, "But that's exactly what we shot," he reveals. The scale is "quite large", but it's not about that. "Its the toll it takes," Whedon says. "I find superhero movies to be a little to [dull?]. And when you have Earth's mightiest heroes - like Thor, you know Thor! - you have to put them in a situation that makes you feel like they're not all going to make it." "The climax of this movie isn't one where you go, 'Oh yes, there's the Avengers, good for them, bye!'" When it all hits, it hits hard."

Sounds like Thor fans won't have to worry about the level of his strength/powers being downplayed in this film if we're to assume that based on that quote alone that Whedon understand the level of power that Thor brings to the table and that it would take some pretty epic %$#%$#% to even threaten him on the battlefield.

Sounds cool that there will be a climax where it won't be easy for them to succeed. Otherwise it would be bland when we have all these heroes together and they have only to throw a hammer or a shield and it's over. Fine that it seems to be confirmed that Thors level of strenght and power is needed.

Re: Thor vs Phoenix, it really depends on the Phoenix. Phoenix Force users have ranged from "basically Herald level" to "powerful enough to make Galactus at least notice they are there." Assuming something on the order of non-Dark Phoenix Jean, or typical Rachel Summers? I think Thor could do fine, so long as he has some means to keep her from simply mindzapping him.

Like that poster a lot and it's good to hear Joss talk about Thor a bit.

watching Thor again. Even though I watched it a couple days ago. :woot: LOL

Yeah I'm glad he mentioned Thor since he hardly talked about him previously, I hope the fact that he emphasizes Thor being "Thor" really means that he understands the amount of power Thor should be portrayed with (I think so).

*Credit goes to MarvelFreshman for having found it*

Nice quote! Now I'm sure Whedon gets how powerful Thor is.

That's a great shot. Love how you just get a few red outlines for his cloak.

What is it about Thor and Loki that they prefer fighting on top of high grounds?:oldrazz:

I wonder if the shot below is in relation to their battle after all?

I wonder what the context is of that shot of him in the sunlight, where he's lifting up his hammer and summoning lightning at daytime?

At first I had originally thought awhile back that this was when he first arrived on Earth, but seeing as how it's been confirmed not to be, I wonder when that happens then. From the looks of the shot, he doesn't have his cape, or chain-mail on either.

same here...i am also wondering the context of that shot, since
he summons lightning during the IM fight

Loki has his helmet on when he zaps Thor with his staff in that Stark tower fight. I hope Hulk catches him too if he falls off the building.

Good grief, the wait is terrible. Hurry up movie, I need to see you now!

lol; I hope not actually. Hulk catching everyone could get redundant at some point.lol Plus, Thor hitting the ground wouldn't necessarily hurt him as much as it would Tony inside a damaged armor.lol
