^ and find a sense of humour.

I love the cartoon as well, but you act like it's the greatest cartoon ever made.

I jsut saw it for the first time and I fail to see what is so great about this film. Loved the cartoon but the movie was meh

^And I can say what's so great about the animated movie.

I think Havok was just talking about the cartoon series.

Anyway, I love both TF movies and the G1 series.

Yeah, me too. They're pure entertainment. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's why I got to the movies. To be entertained. Of course I like other kinds of movies as well, but I usually see them on dvd. But big dumb movies (TF, Con Air, Armageddon, etc.) I like to see in a cinema.

For some reason people don't like Bay. I love his movies.

I don't mind his movies (I don't go out of my way to see them, nor hate them sight unseen), but I loathed his Transformer movie, even dumb movies have their limits.

well if this was from critics dont listen cause they hate everything
That is usually how I tell a good movie is if the critics hate it then i go and watch it and its one of the best movies I've ever watched. Transformers was awesome!!:woot:

So you've never seen Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the first two original Star Wars, Spider-Man 2, X2 & other action movies that critics liked?
:cwink:

No I've seen them. There usually is an exception to every rule. Even though it is only about a 5% chance that they are right.:word:

I think they pretty much nailed it, but the only flaw I could find is that it seemed to be more about the humans than the robots. Which got boring after awhile. But I guess they were saving it for the climax, which kicked several asses btw.

Some people complain about it not being close enough to the cartoon, only a fool would go in expecting a perfect carbon copy of the cartoon. If it was just the same as the cartoon, wouldn't it be boring since we've seen it all before? They were very creative (in a good way) yet still managed to remain true to the basic formula. Giant fighting robots. :trans:

Of course if someone was expecting as carbon copy: They are fools! But what Bay made was the complete oposite; and that extreme is no better then the other.

There are so many drastic changes in the movie that, to make a comparaison, it would be as if they would of made a batman movie in which batman never lost his parents, was dressed in a pink swan costume and had to rob banks to pay for his high-tech gadgets... It just doesn't fly and neither does the TF movie. :csad:

The changes weren't all that drastic. Transformers, contrary to popular belief is not just some toon from the eighties. There is no one original for the Transformers, by my count, at current there are over 25 continuities, 10 or so which could be considered "G1". The cartoon continuity isn't even "official" anymore actually, it's considered an alternate universe to the real American continuity.

Remember this has been Optimus Prime.

but then so has this...

Even consider this, as far afield as you claim Bay is. Transformers the cartoon has depicted Transformers without: Autobots and Decepticons, a planet torn apart by war (Beast Wars), without Optimus Prime or Megatron (Transformers G1: Victory), without transforming (Action Masters Line), without an Ark (everything but the original comic, the cartoon never called it the Ark), without any sentient robots (Masterforce) and without vehicles (Beast Wars season 1).

Transformers is a garbage can term. Most people who think the movie didn't "resemble the source material" only have vague and incomplete recollections of it. Transformers has been about changing things since the beginning. It's why the made an entire movie in 1986 devoted to killing off 2/3rds of their established toy characters. It's why they created Cybertron and Transformers in the first place: a bold new marketing campaign on a product, Diaclone et all, that until then featured mindless drones.
