Nice krypton/jorel ideal their david. As for frodo's idea of zod is kalel's real father its an interesting idea. But i dont really want to have a massive change like that for change of things. We dont need to reinvent the wheel with the origin/background. We need a good story and shown in a new light so its not like smallville/lois and clark/STAS or donner. But their inlays the problem of how to do it and what story to tell.

No more Donner crap please. If I never see General Zod again it will be too soon.
Just so I know...
Everyone is aware that General Zod is a character from the comics right? You all, being superman fans of course, realize that Zod appeared in comics 15+ years before he appeared in S:TM?
Because between this and lumping in Donner's Superman with Pre Crisis Comic Book Superman, I'm seriously starting to worry...

Make *it* both male and female.. one scene it would be female, the next male. They should make Braniac a female....

I have to agree, BUT you have to remember, that before Superman: The Movie and Superman 2 General Zod was just a minor villain, the real evil Kryptonian was Jax-Ur.
Yep, his first apperence was was in Adventure Comics(starring Superboy) issue #283 in 1961. But his appearence in STM/SM2is probaly what the character is most know from. And if I'm not mistaken(which I might be) the General Zod from Superman: Last Son is now the real Zod. Which was written by Geoff Johns and Richard donner. So in my opinion Zod should be left out of the new movie or movies as a villian if for anything to leave room for a villian that hasn't been used before.
Now you're gettin' kinky.

I feel the same way, with the right story, and new look/style we can freshen things up well keeping us comic fans happy and giving the general viewers some great things.I believe fans are projecting their own skewed perception onto the general audience. The fans know Superman's origin, and have been following the character for decades. They've read the comics, watched the old movies, and grown up on the cartoon. So they think the origin has been played out.
It's not. The last time they did the Superman origin for real on a feature film was back in 1978. I fully believe that Superman Returns failed to relaunch the character because it didn't bother launching the character at all; it basically neglected all the younger people who were watching Superman for the first time.
Batman's origin is just as well known as Superman's. Yet Batman Begins still did the origin, and was a huge success. Even a well known origin can seem fresh with quality writing and directing that plays up the best aspects of it and adds some new interpretations and ideas.
We haven't seen a feature film depicting Krypton with state of the art CGI. Clark's upbringing and why he has unshakeable morals. Why he decides to don the costume for the first time. The Clark/Lois romance without a made-up illegitimate super-son. Lex Luthor as a self-made "superman" with a corporate empire, instead of three lowly thugs and a lame real-estate scam.
