I'm trying to get into this show, but it's just getting more annoying for me. I was watching another ep form the chunin exam and it's where Sakura cut her hair off. That exam is going way too long, the flashbacks aren't helping. 50% of the ep was nothing but flashbacks. And I find myself really hating Rock Lee How much longer will it take for me to get into this show?

The Sakura/Ino fight is one of the worst in terms of flashbacks. Figures you'd judge the show by that. Hang in there, Gaara vs Sasuke and Naruto vs Neji should entertain you soon enough.

True, they are necessary. I personally feel they are too much and too long. In the village of the mist arc when Sasuske was hit by those needles in that mirror fortress, I changed the channel because I lost patience with the excessive flashbacks. Sasuske took so long to fall. I also lost patience with the flashbacks during Sakura's fight with the sound ninjas and when she was fighting Ino, both in the anime and manga. But yes, I definitely agree they are necessary and add to the emotional intensity of the show. But I guess the flashbacks annoy me too much because I'm too westernized in my outlook of cartoons.

Not only that, but they occur during some of the more intense moments of the series. Imagine somebody trying to tell you a long, interesting story while you're unwrapping Christmas gifts.
