My only complaint is that it wasn't torturous enough. I enjoyed the fight but expected it to be a lot longer and a lot more brutal than it was. It felt like he suddenly got tired/desperate way too soon. I wanted them to really hammer the point home and have him try, try, try, try, try, try and just fail miserably every single time. They did do this, but I wanted more of it.

I agree completely. I am really surprised that I left the theater wanting the fight to have been more visceral and brutal. They were raw in terms of being fist fights, but none of the blows ever really delivered (aside from the mask bit).

The back breaking was really weird. It sort of happened low in the frame, I actually wasn't even sure that was the moment right away.

I was just shock that the scene was even in the film. And even more shock that he broke his back. I know some are complaining that it needed to be more brutal, but I think they were already pushing the PG-13 limit a little too far anyway.... and combined with Bane breaking necks. Even more brutality would have been too far.. I think.

You're all sadists, ya hear me? Sadists!

But anyways, for me, I thought it was perfect. I loved the frustration that Bale exuded throughout the fight, while Hardy just played it as a machine that will not be stopped. Bane was sinister. I loved it when Batman told him he was excommunicated by a gang of psychopaths, Bane pauses for a brief moment, then starts destroying his ribs with those quick punches.

One of my favorite moments, besides the back breaking, was when they drop to the second level of the sewers and Batman appears to get the upper hand - he clinches up with Bane, throwing those solid elbows to Bane's mid section, then Bane spins out and knocks Batman to his knees. I was wondering how the spin move would work, but seeing it within the sequence was sick.

When Bane throws Batman off the cat walk, he lands on the ground in an odd way, it looks like he's levitating or something. What's going on with that?

I think he breaks from landing hard with the memory cloth. He flaps his cape out and the wind allows for a soft landing.

I wish Bane when he picked up the broken cowl said "Broken and done". If Nolan gave us that, I would've been the happiest Batman fanboy in the world.

OK, I gotta see it again, I've only seen it once.

Well technically four times since I... uh... did some non noble stuff.

Damn YouTube had to take the fight down. I watched it 3 times in the course of like 2 hours.

Watching bootleg footage on Youtube...a useful method for the unitiated. But we ARE initiated aren't we, General?

You merely used Youtube for piracy. I was BORN using BitTorrent! Molded by it!

I really hope WB releases that fight in HD after the theatrical release. I don't think I can wait til December.

I think the most powerful spectacle of Bane's strength was actually during this short segment after Batman fell off the catwalk/had been slammed up against the pillar. Batman grabs Bane by the back of his head and delivers three extremely direct/full-momentum/hard hits into Bane's chest and you can really tell that he's putting everything he's got into those punches: ("UNGHHHHH!! UNGHHHHH! UNGHHHHH!"), and of course Bane just takes them all like a champ and continues his rampage.

I was also surprised they didn't emulate Knightfall more by having the backbreak moment happen head-on and in mid-frame. Instead it was low-frame and from an angle.
