The Dark Knight Rises Why I think Rises will be better than TDK

Actually, let me take back my 1st point and make a new one: How about Selina from the TDKR trailer?

What about her? Selina sounds like she has contempt and disdain for the wealthy, and possibly Bruce in the trailer. Take a look at her facial expressions, especially when she is trying on the pearls. Selina appears to show disgust and anger.

And yet, everyone (here of course, nobody outside the SHH boards talks about him, or about the extras from BB and TDK) seems to be making a big deal about his overacting.

Not really, the overacting is generally forgotten until we (the hardcore fans) start dissecting the film apart.

For instance, when I caught the prologue for the first time on the IMAX screen, I was too blown away by Bane to pay attention to the CIA *****e.

And she really didn't sound like a living, breathing theme to you? Really? I'm not even saying it as a bad thing, mind you. But, just like Ra's, or Scarecrow, or Alfred, or Rachel, or Fox, or the Joker, or Dent, she's spewing words that have to do directly with what the movie's about. I don't see how you don't see the similarity here.

The same applies to the BB and TDK extras, that's my point.

She very well could be but it's hard to say at this point. We've only seen 30 seconds of overall material for Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

Her face does scream out vexation and revulsion though.

Of course, but it varies. TDK had worse minor acting than BB, so who knows? Perhaps TDKR will not repeat the same formula.

I do see the similarities but that doesn't mean Selina Kyle will only express one ideology and mode throughout the movie.

I'm not saying she will only do that, but the previous 2 films support the fact that Nolan handles his characters as thematic vessels, rather than actual people. What I don't see is the reason why you think this would change in the 3rd film.

Ah, see? I think TDK was better in terms of extras' acting.

Other than the trailer, Rags said this film would be knee-deep in emotion. Now, which characters will forgo the traditional approach, your guess is as good as mine but I have my theories -- Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne.

I don't see how those are mutually exclusive. BB was more emotional than TDK, but that didn't stop the characters from being thematic vessels.

Thematic Vessels or not, my point is this film will more than likely be the most emotional of the trilogy, and the characters will be more than just themes by the end.

I whole heartedly agree... Emotional because some serious decisions, sacrifices and life altering choices will need to be made. Characters will be at cross roads.

One reason it will better. No Rachel. Unless she miraculously survived the explosion. In that case, I'm walking out.
