Yes I like this concept as well. The style would suit Webb's vision of Spider Mans world.

His Electro is certainly growing on me but i wish there was some sort of green/yellow colour included for final version. maybe even the hooded jacket. Still the current version is fine too.

I'm glad his Electro is growing on you. Well at least what we've seen so far. It's obviously not his finalized version whatsoever.

I'm not pointing this out on directly you at all, but there seems to be a lot of people out there in these situations where we see a paparazzi set photo and people immediately assume that's the finalized look.
Some people would say, "Oh, Electro's suit includes a hood this time? Like darth sidius?" - No, he's just in civilian clothes, hasn't gotten the suit yet.
Or, "Why is The Rhino just a bald guy with tattoos who drives a semi? Is he just going to bash into things with his truck?" - No, he hasn't become THE Rhino yet.

When did we get confirmation that Massee WILL return as the Man in the Shadows in ASM2?

This whole thread has been about speculating if he will and I don't believe I've ever seen confirmation, or anything at all for that matter, that pointed to him coming back...

If he is going to be back, as the "Man in the Shadows", maybe they will use some footage that has already been filmed, during the last filming, and then they'll just switch the actor to Cooper without any explanation, which wouldn't be necessary since Massee was always in the shadows.

A former member of the thread who is an extra on ASM2 (he got banned for spilling info while under NDA) said that while saw Michael Massee at the ASM2 production office, which all but confirms his return.

He also said some other stuff which, for the sake of my own existence here on SHH, I won't divulge.

Good point. So maybe for most of the movie Alex Ohern or Aleskei whatever his last name is is just some thug working for Oscorp or on his own and gets whooped by Spiderman. This leads him to Oscorp willing to undergo either a bonding process or a cross-species experiment that turns him into the Rhino, enabling him to be a major threat in ASM3.

By doing this with Rhino or possibly even Electro in ASM2 it allows more baddies in ASM3 without having to spend time going into their background.

I think this actually supports my idea of ASM3 being the Sinister Six. We'll already have GG, then we'll make Rhino at the end of the movie, plus others could be undergoing similar experiements or equipment development (Vulture, Scorpion, Shocker, etc.). Just add one or two more and we'd have six...

I would support that idea & Chameleon is one of my fav choices. he needs to be able to be disguise himself as anybody though.

I just think that him dressed as a women is kind of disturbing, what if they do it wrong. It's hard to imagine the Chameleon making his escape in high heels. t:

Yeah, I read the interview with Webb teasing about the Gentleman being used to setup the Sinister Six and I like the idea. Massee's disappearing act in the asylum could have been all theatrical and deceptive. The Gentleman's power in terms of wealth and connections could explain how he entered and exited the room Connors was in. It would also make sense that he works in cahoots with Norman because of their thirst for power as well as their relation to Peter's father who I'm sure is still alive and well.

The "we'll" suggests The Sinister Six could've been planned all along, me thinks.

But that's the huge kicker here. We've gotten confirmation that Massee WILL return as the Man in the Shadows in ASM2, so it makes the casting Chris Cooper as Norman feel very.... off. In the comics, Norman WAS The Man in the Shadows (it was his civilian cover as Goblin before his identity as Norman was revealed).

So for Massee to be the Man in the Shadows, but someone else is playing Norman Osborn, it makes the whole situation that much more interesting. Because as you said, all clues pointed to Massee being Norman.

Cooper was Norman in the comic-con footage. Harry was talking to him. Considering Massee and Cooper don't really look alike, I don't see how Harry would make that mistake.

Besides, Cooper is the better actor imo. He could be an INTENSE Norman. I much prefer him.

No even on screen it wouldn't make sense, I don't get how anyone could think you can have cooper faking being osborn when Harry should know what his own dad looks like, then massee comes in and is like No I am the real Norman and Harry is like ohh yeah I thought the other guy was my father

Even if you wanted to say Harry hasn't seen his dad for years how far can you go with the idea Harry has completely forgotten what he looks like, I mean will Norman be that mysterious?

But then we also heard in the comic con footage that we see cooper ill in bed talking to Harry, so I don't see the logical reasoning behind faking being ill and dying in bed

pulling a fake out like that wouldn't be surprising at all. Here we all are speculating about that because it's basically a cliche at this point, and the ones that aren't expecting it would only be surprised because they are expecting Webb to be smarter than that

Cooper's and Massee's acting skills aside, there is only really one way I could see them doing this (not that I actually think they are doing it at this point).

- Cooper is Chameleon posing as "dying" Norman. (bear with me)
- He's "dying" so he doesn't have to make public appearances that raise questions.
- Massee is Norman off doing things in the shadows.
- As a kid Harry freaks out because he knows Cooper isn't his father. So he is shipped off to boarding school, where he is drugged/brainwashed and comes home to talk to Cooper whom he now thinks is his father.
- But throughout the film he starts to suspect something and confides in his old friend Peter.

May seem complex, but if a subplot of ASM2 and ASM3 is dedicated to this it wouldn't be all that far-fetched. And it would help the audience understand that Norman is a fraud (because he doesn't look much like the real Norman).

That all being said, I now think Massee is The Gentleman. So I've ditched my own theory.

If they make Cooper a "fake" Norman and Massee the real one, it'll feel too repetitive like the two other comic book movies tried and have either successful done (Batman Begins) or caused fan hate (Iron Man 3).

I'm positive that Chris Cooper will be Norman....... but not in the way we think.

Yes. In ASM2, when we see dying Norman for the, likely, vast majority of the film, it will be Cooper.

But there's no doubt in my mind that it will revealed that

A) Norman, as we see him, isn't really sick and that

B) the "sick" man we see in bed dying is actually The Chameleon, doubling for Norman who has, for some time, been posing under a new identity as

C) The Man in the Shadows.

IDK if they will actually go in that direction. I think Norman is legitimately dying and needs a cure, and this "cure" will ultimately be the Goblin formula. The Man in the Shadows (Michael Masse) is either the Gentleman, or maybe Chamelion.

However, the only thing that makes me believe that the Man in the Shadows could actually be Norman, with the theories you posted above, is that he wore that trench coat & hat, and, well, he is the MAN IN THE SHADOWS. Just like in the comic books.
