And for Bucky if he were to have a solo origin film it could begin with his early years as The Winter Soldier in the sense of SHIELD well HYDRA finding him after he fell off the train in First Avenger and then turning him into Winter Soldier

Then you can build off the origin film from there

Theres so much that happened during the 70 years he was used as a sleeper I'm sure they could connect him in the MCU flawlessly (killing Howard Stark, trying to kill Black Widow, encountering Hawkeye, etc)

I think that would be an awesome movie

Yes it would and it would definitely get my money because I would pay to see that origin film

It depends if Marvel wants to make a Horror film. I can't see that getting a $150m+ budget.

Well that would depend on how they go about it

He's tortured, mind controlled, mono syllabic and he gruesomely murders and tries to murder people we care about and supposedly some of the best people of the 20th century and then what it ends with him frozen and ready for his appearance in TWS? It would be like a Terminator movie but where he wins and kills everyone until he's locked away to kill again.

Yeah that is kind of the whole point building up to the sequels where you have him turn back into the Bucky who is no longer under Hydra's control

Well yeah it would start off in the 40s and then you can build it off from there by bringing it into present day by having the origins be told in flashback sequences and then building it into a movie for the present day with Bucky on his own with him as the lead

I would be interested in a Winter Soldier Solo movie but I would make it more into a current timeline scenario and have flashbacks of his life while under Hydra. And I most assuredly see Marvel easily wrapping into current timeline continuum. As far as him being ruthless killer...yeah...but he was brainwashed into it. For me characters that are gray are the most fascinating. I think almost every character except maybe Cap, Thor, and Banner are pretty straight up have a dicey back story. Stark was not a very likable guy, creating weapons of mass destruction and being an all around self absorbed jerk until he got kidnapped. That event trigger him to become a different person.

Exactly and a Winter Soldier movie would work

sign me up for a solo winter soldier film!..anyday!

And we know Bucky's origins mostly because of First Avenger with him and Steve fighting alongside each other in WW2 but also Bucky's years of being brainwashed by Hydra I mean if they found him during WW2 and then from the 50s into present day with him being Winter Soldier then they can build it from there

The movies make you wonder what happened between the time he was found until the time he turned into the assassin...they touched on it in WS but too briefly. I think it would be AMAZING If they did a story in current time with flashbacks of him becoming Winter Soldier, training, and doing missions, while in the present making up for those things he did.

Theyd have all my money :tmm:

Plus if Marvel can make a movie about Ant-Man and have it considered to be a financial success I definitely think the Winter Soldier could carry his own solo movie

If Marvel ever made a Winter Soldier movie, half of the opening weekend box office would be from me :funny:

For me, Seb's Bucky is by far one of the most interesting, tragic characters in the MCU. His character has so much potential. I hope they use that whole 9-picture contract.

And in a Winter Soldier solo film you can even incorporate not only Cap but also other people too like Black Widow, Nick Fury, etc.

However as for villains you can use...I mean they would almost have to use the same characters from the Captain America universe to be villains for Bucky's solo film

I think that's the only way it would work. Brainwashed Bucky, unable to make his own choices, as protagonist of an entire film isn't exactly compelling. But discovering his past and learning how to be okay with himself, THAT'S compelling. Supposedly that is what he does in Civil War, though, so we'll see if there's still hankering for it after the movie comes out. :yay:

But judging by spoilers that have come out,
it REALLY doesn't look like we'll see him discovering his past much, post-Civil War....

Maybe not discovering his past, but there's plenty of room to show him learning to live with the knowledge of what he has done post Civil War. Especially if (legitimate CW spoilers ahead, don't click if you don't want to know lol)
those Wakandan doctors end up breaking his brainwashing and restoring his memories. He'll still need a lot of time to come to terms with who he is and what he was forced to be.

All that could be great fodder for a film - or maybe Netflix series :cwink:

Also, I can't believe people were posting "cute" press tour gifs but missed THIS ONE:

Just watched a new TV spot and I have to ask.

What exactly is WS skill set/power level in these films?

Unless I missed something, the 2nd film shows them freezing him and giving him the arm along with mind control.

In the TV spot he is running at what looks like super speed.

Is he basically a clone of Cap? Did he get the serum?

Yes, he is meant to have been given a form of the super soldier serum (it's also what allowed him to survive the fall from the train - so it's a process that was started with his initial capture back in '43 when Steve found him strapped to that table)
