Worst Attempts at Accents EVER

Any accent that Brad Pitt makes up. (lame actor all around IMHO)

But there are some roles that I did like him in, however.

I think Fight Club still stands as his best role because he does define Hollywood at the time then and (still) now. I also liked him in 12 Monkeys.

I just think he tries hard to be charismatic, he doesn't come close to the ozzing charm of George Clooney. OR even a young Mel Gibson.

Well I do remember joking with my friends and screaming at them "Is there NO one else!!! Is there NO one else!?!?!" after some Halo game nights.

So I think I consider that a bad accent if I was making fun of it.

And I think the king of bad accents goes to Keanu Reeves in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I think he is decent when playing Bat-s**t crazy but outside of that I pretty much find him to be a non factor.

Steve Guttenberg - Don't Tell Her It's Me - Also belongs in Worst Movies.

Its supposed to be a New Zealand accent and it sounds part Scottish, part Austrian, part Bostonian part American, part... pure butchery.

When has any faux Kiwi accent been anything but pure butchery? t: The worst slap in my memory was a ghastly line delivered by one of the fighters in Enter The Dragon. Well, come to think of it Anthony Hopkins had a few good moments in The World's Fastest Indian.

But it's interesting you should mention Scottish, because the Scottish accent was one of the early foundations of the modern Kiwi accent.

There are some pretty weird vowel sounds in there and Americans tend to struggle on the "r" in single syllable words. As with the Kiwi accent it's always the subtle differences that get the most mangled results. t:

Josh Hartnett in Blow Dry. Awful english accent.

I'm gonna give Hartnett props for atleast trying to do a english accent that isn't either cockney or Posh like most American actors do.

sean connery as bond (british) .... and most other movies he's been in

Britain is made up off Scotland, England and Wales so Connery is British what you probably meant was his attempt at a English accent.

Sean Connerys accent in The Untochables is bad too. His supposed to be playing an Irishman

Ewan MacGregor - Deception (worst attempt at a New York accent I've ever heard)

Add MacGregors attempt at a Cockney accent in Woody allen film Cassandras Dreams. Considering he had been living London since his late teens and obviously must of heard the accent before I don't understand how he could produce something that sounded so far removed from the accent.

In fact most actors cannot do cockney accents.

The worst accent in the history of cockney accents on screen has to be dick van dyke in mary poppins it sounded like he was having a stroke when he talked.

Don cheadle - oceans 11 sounds like he must of watched Van Dyke for ideas because his accent sucked as well.

I'm surprised. A lot of UK and Aussie actors have nailed down Southern accents to a T (like Maggie Smith and Ryan Kwanten), so Neeson's work on Next of Kin was disappointing. I think some actors just aren't cut out to do accents at all, like Tom Cruise and Salma Hayek.

I thought Most UK actors suck at doing Southern accents. Thats the one most of them find the most difficult. Jude Law's was bad as was his Manchaster accent in blueberry nights. He couldn't even do the accent from another city from his own country.

I do have to say that Pitt's Irish accent was lame.

Pitts Irish Gypsy accent in Snatch was spot on though.

Micheal Caine sucks at American accents. His accent southern in Cider House Rules and general American accent in The Weatherman suck.
The fact he got an Oscar for Cider House Rules proves he must be a hell of an actor for them to look over the stink that is his accent

On BBC Radio they did a top ten list of worst accents and I think Keanu came first. Reeves excuse was his mother is British so he thought he could pull it off

Two that come to mind are; Justin Theroux's Irish accent in Charlie's Angels 2 and Denzel Washington's Jamaican accent in The Mighty Quinn.The execution of both was pretty bad imo.

Brad Pitt's gypsy accent in Snatch and his New Orleans accent in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button sounded good. His accent in Inglorous Bastards sounds good too, from what I've seen.

I actually think he's a really talented actor who gets a lot of crap just because the media tracks his every move and people get annoyed over it. His accent in Troy was a little weird, but no one actually sounded Greek in that movie, so you know...

And I don't know if anyone watched the TV series "Angel" but David Boreanez did a terrible Irish accent throughout. I loved the show and loved the actor but he was terrible at being Irish.

I loves me some Mark Wahlberg, but he's got two accents for every character: vaguely Boston-ish accent and vaguely Italian-American/Brooklyn-ish accent.

Yeah, I said earlier that I added that film as a mistake. The other two though, he plays an American. Thank God he didn't end up doing Snake Plissken.



I remember being somewhat disappointed in Ed Norton's and Paul Giamatti's German accents in The Illusionist. They weren't terrible, but from actors of their ability, I expected perfection.

I'm glad he didn't play that role. I hate Bush with a passion, and I don't want to think about him while I'm watching one of my favorite characters, like Batman.
