Worst Attempts at Accents EVER

Angelina Jolie's accent in Alexander was pretty funny. She kind of sounded like The Count in Sesame Street.t:

I thought that all of the different accents in that movie were hilarious. Angelina did this weird German thing, Kilmer did the traditional vaguely British-y accent that most Americans use when playing Ancient Greeks or Romans, Farrell just said "**** it" and stuck with his Dubliner accent, and Rosario Dawson did this bizarre multipurpose accent that people used to convey bi racial looking quasi Eurasian-ish characters. Hilariously bad stuff all around.

Harrison Ford in K-19.

Halle Berry's "what is that even trying to be" accent in X-Men, which she just completely abandons in the next movies, just as well. For that matter, wtf kind of accent is Paul Bettany doing in The Da Vinci Code? He sounds like Dracula.

Sam Worthington in Terminator Salvation, can't even maintain an American accent for two sentences.

Ditto for Marion Cotillard in Public Enemies, who has at least three scenes where she sounds totally French.

I may piss some off here, but Alan Rickman's AND Jeremy Irons' one scene attempts at American accents were horrible.

Love Michael Caine, but his American accent in The Cider House Rules wanders back to, well, Michael Caine after about three sentences.

Val Kilmer starts off in The Ghost and the Darkness with a half-assed Irish accent, then completely forgets about it for two-thirds of the movie, and then toward the end out of nowhere he randomly pronounces "schedule" the British way. Kind of funny. Ironic too, because in The Saint, Kilmer does like 100 different accents. Not sure how well he nails all of them, but he puts a hell of a lot more effort in there, at least.

Ralph Fiennes and Clive Owen can't do American accents to save their lives.

Has anyone seen the movie "Brick?"

Great film, but I remember Joseph Gordon Levitt almost sounding like he had this weird semi-Irish accent in it. Anyone know what was going on there? It wouldn't make sense for him to use that type of accent in the film, so maybe that's not what he was doing.

Oh, someone mention Highlander earlier. I'd like to nominate Christopher Lambert for any other movie where he tries to do an American accent. He always sounds like he's doing a neutered version of the Bat-Bale voice.

John Malkovich in anything where he has an accent. He SUCKS at them. I think the worst was in Knockaround Guys where he tried to play a New York gangster. His affinity for over-annunciating words made it one of the most laughable performances I've ever seen.

And I don't know if anyone watched the TV series "Angel" but David Boreanez did a terrible Irish accent throughout. I loved the show and loved the actor but he was terrible at being Irish.

Harrison just rolled his 'R's and mumbled throughout the entire movie.

Rickman was supposed to sound like a dumb, whiny American in that one scene in Die Hard. It's suppose to be kinda funny to us, whereas to Bruce, it's just normal. Think of the gay voice that Harrison Ford did in Blade Runner.

And yes, Clive Owen is terrible at American accents.

Gerald Butler's American accent in "The Ugly Truth" trailer sounded terrible. Like his Scottish accent was on the edge of bursting out.

Yeah, every time he seems to think he's doing an American accent it really just sounds like his regular British accent but with a few words smoothed out or enunciated more.

it's so bad..It felt like the studio forced upron Francis Ford Coppella when it came to the casting, because Keanue was becoming huge back then. Then again, Sofia Coppella was awful in Godfather Part 3.

I thought Most UK actors suck at doing Southern accents. Thats the one most of them find the most difficult.

You have a respectable amount of people from the UK who can do them: Maggie Smith (Ya-Ya Sisterhood), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Vivien Leigh (Gone with the Wind) and a few others.

Bale's got a good American accent. I remember listening to the commentary on American Psycho and they were discussing how Bale stayed in his characters voice throughout shooting (being a method actor) and then at the wrap party he switched to his natural accent and everyone was caught way off guard
