Wow! The NEW (Hype!) TiVo Can Do So Much! - Part 1

Surely you disagree with the poster's atrocious grammar, and lack of punctuation and capitalization, right? I think chimps communicate more coherently utilizing crude sign-words and feces.

It's the thought that counts, and plus I dislike Jane. :o

I don't get the rabid hate people have for Thor 2. It entertained the hell out of me, and Portman and Kat Dennings are both smoking hot (in their own ways :o).

I like it and I think it's okay, but without going into excessive detail, seeing how vast and huge Thor's comic mythology is, his movies leave a lot to be desired.

The Best (Worst) of themayor:

Keep in Mind this post was made in February, a whole 5 months before the movie.

If Marvel does not start advertising this movie people will not only lose interest, they won't even know its out. Other then people here, the mainstream audience will be like "What? There was a Cap movie out? When?! Oh you mean the one from 1990?"

Whoever decided not to release this trailer is a moron! There is no smart thinking behind this unless the movie is crap, which would explain why they don't want to show it.

Hopefully you guys will get a brain and realize as I did two months ago, this is terrible advertising.

In March, 4 months before the movie release:

Im glad im not the only one frustrated by this terrible (or lack of) advertising and marketing.

I can just imagine a bunch of suits around a table...Suit 1 says "Hey guys I got a great idea, we could save a ton of money by having no marketing on Captain America"...the room erupts in applause. Just then a person at the back raises a hand..."Uh sir?..." The suits turn and look at the man... its the janitor, "wouldn't we then lose our audience by a lack of informing them and thus lose lots of money if we don't market the film?" The suits look bewildered and confused and ignore the man...

I really hope someone from paramount lurks these boards and reads this comment.

I really hope someone from paramount lurks these boards and reads every comment but that one.

I come into this thread, no scratch that, this forum and what do i find? People talking about random nonsense that has nothing to do with Captain America, not even trying to stay on topic...and you guys think this is good marketing...

TheMayor on how Captain America will do internationally.

How will Captain America do internationally? Would an Captain America movie be popular in France, Germany, etc.

I suspect it will do reasonably well in those countries, especially Germany. Marvel has taken great pains to remove all traces of Nazis and swastikas from Captain America that the most right winged Neo-Nazi will not be offended.

They even dropped the name Captain America and are just calling it The First Avenger...im not kidding!

Hell I bet even the Taliban will like this movie!

TheMayor on Scott Pilgrim:

If I had to blame one thing for the box office disaster of SP it would be over advertising. I can remember, not too long ago, this site covered with SP adds and those stupid pop ups for the film. This site should be for super hero movies, not a teen comedy drama thing. We already have too many of those.

C.Lee said:
This site is PRIMARILY about superheros....then about comic books and comic book related media.........guess where Scott Pilgrim comes into the picture.

CrimsonKing said:
Yeah, I remember reading the news on how SP failed because of too many pop-ups on SHH. Good call.

TheMayor on Cap 2:

He survives to present day. His age is decreased due to the serum in him. He ends up changing his identity and gets plastic surgery to disguise himself. The word around Cap 2 is that he tries to impersonate the President some how. He also will not be appearing in The Avengers.

Spider-Fan said:

You're they're copying the 90's Cap film argument is kind of moot when A-He doesn't go into present day for the majority of the film and B-Hyrda is in the film. Oh, and the fact that this actually has money and effort in it.

TheMayor said:
Im talking about Cap 2. I know that in Cap 1 it takes place in WWII. In that movie it is believed he dies at the end of the film, but in fact he escapes. He doesn't get frozen or anything. He will be old in Cap 2. Don't like it? Take it up with the writers.

In Cap 2 yes Hydra is in it, but he uses that as the vehicle for trying to impersonate the president. This could change from the time Cap 2 is released but right now thats the plan.

At least he got Hydra being in it right.

And finally, what got him banned, TheMayor on women:

She said: "I think she's quite stubborn, a slightly frustrated woman who struggles with being a woman in that time.

"But more importantly she's a modern woman and she sees something in Captain America that she relates to, and becomes kindred spirits.

He treats her very differently to how she's been treated by lots of men, in this kind of dominated world she lives in. So she's very much a fighter

I could talk for hours on end with this quote. Like every female love interest character in every movie nowadays, she must be strong and independent. Whatever happened to that kind lady who loved men, and was pure of heart... rather then being jealous of them? When did kindness and just being a woman become bad. Why must they become men?

I can't EVEN BEGIN TO.... :wow:

How about making her a three dimensional character in a predominantly male-heavy story to appeal to female comic book readers and movie watchers like, say.... I dunno... ME!!

We're not in the 50's or 60's anymore. There are still major inequalities between male and female depictions in comics to this very day. (see Horn, Greg, and Catwoman art and EVERYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH WONDER WOMAN EVER! And the fact that the big two are pretty scared of producing anything that revolves around their major female heroes.)

When I see Peggy Carter, who's a character set in the 40's, being feisty, intelligent, and good at what she does, independent of merely being the love interest, believe me THAT alone would make me admire what the filmmakers were striving for with this movie. And to applaud Marvel's decisions for her character.

I really think some people are out of touch. Trolling or no, some opinions need to be replied to.

Oh Im not trolling. I meant what I said. You can have a three dimensional character and not have that woman just be a male character looking like a woman. That is what female characters have become: Men...just without the...

There are wonderful things about women that are unique to them but movies, television...the internet, never seems to utilize those but only seems to take qualitys that are for men and just transplant them onto women, and I guess this is suppose to make women feel the same, or free or equal or...something? Why not just be proud of who you are rather then pretending to be something your not?

Oh and don't talk to me about unequality. At my job every man, myself included, works 50 times harder then any woman. Ive never asked for help from any woman when I was working, the same cannot be said for the other.

Once again...I have no words.

I do....good bye Mayor.

He was. It's even better when you read his posts as The Mayor from Action League now.

OMG MY REPLY!!! :lmao:

He was pure gold, The Mayor. Hit all the trolly tropes while he was posting here.

Bless.

I honestly stopped reading after he claimed the mainstream audience in 2011 would actually remember the Captain America movie from 1990.

Looking through thread, I'm reminded these gems of posts.

I think alot of thought has been put into how secret Steve's identity will be. I wonder if anyone here could tell me the given name of the Red Baron without looking it up online first? He was just a German Flying Ace who was known to both allies and enemies alike as the Red Baron. I would think that maybe Cap will be the same. His name is not stricken from the historical records or anything... but people know him as Captain America.

I would think Red Baron, but I would likely know it was Manfred von Richthofen. Not a secret, but secondary to the "legend" that has been created around his emblematic name. But to his inner circle of friends, the people he interacts with within he film, he will still be Steve.

:pal: THE RED BARON'S FRIENDS WOULD CALL HIM STEVE?!?!?

I can see the Avengers trailer now,

Thor......

Iron Man......

Hulk.......

Hawkeye......

and 'Steve'. :woot:

Brian Braddock said:
It's better than Manfred. :oldrazz:

''My real names Manfred, but call me Steve - it sound so much cooler''.

An impressive roster of characters. If I had to put a team together to save the world... always include a guy named Steve :D

:yay::pal::yay:

"Steve?...What's that short for Stephen?"
"No.........It's short for Captain America."

."Gee I wish my buddy Steve was here, he'ld like this guy a lot!":cwink:

Man, they better call him 'the first avenger' in other countries. I doubt the name 'Steve' will be well received.

I'm pretty sure the the New Zealand movie poster just says

"Steve: The First Steve"

Man, I keep hearing this flick is gonna bomb for sure just like 1990's "Steve".

the first avenger subtitle is dumb..the movie's gunna fail because it's not just "Steve"!

Word around the camp fire [:oldrazz:] is The Avengers is going to be retitled "Steve & His Not So Anonymous Friends"

Unlikely. We might try, "Steve: The Umaga Experiment" though.

Someone who knows photoshop really needs to change the poster and replace 'CAPTAIN AMERICA' with 'STEVE'.

I'm trying to read further but it's just so ****ing asanine. I'll have to go at it in small doses. :o

TheMayor was classic. I wonder if he tried sneaking back on hype...

'Steve'. Bwah haha.

Man, I'd totally forgotten about theMayor and his lunacy. Many thanks to all concerned on this thread for making me chuckle on the way to work this morning.

This just happened.

Kathryn Bigelow or wait for her to do WW? :o

A woman should not direct Wonder Woman. It is forced and unnecessary.

What is this the 1950's? It doesn't matter what gender the director is, what matters is if they can do a good job.

bigelow is an oscar winning director. the **** kinda logic goes into thinking "a woman should not direct wonder woman" when she's brought up in the conversation?

Honestly, if you wanna get the character right, you should find somebody that's like, REALLY into S&M.

anyone think Ben will bring his brother Cassey in some role perhaps as a employee of Wayne Enterprise.....probably will happen
lol yes, because God knows, Casey Affleck at this point in his career could really use a one-note character with no name who is an employee of his big brother. It could be his big break. :o

I'm ashamed of it too. Mostly. Kind of. Not really at all.

:o

I'm just gonna leave this here.

Youd think rich people wouldn't benefit from cheap and always available child organs? It might sound shocking but that's the sick nature of our vworld and we better grasp it. You don't need any proof for that. Its just plain logic

Are you trolling? If not, you need to reassess your definition of "logic".

Not trolling
Im being very serious

That's scary.

You can't make statements like that without any proof just because you think it must be true. Your pessimism about the world doesn't validate crackpot ideas.

Haha "scary". Yeah it is scary and very real sadly
Rich people are capable of everything in order to secure their assets and personal health of their families. What pessimism are u talking about. Im just being aware of the true nature of this world.

Yes, slavery, rasicm and human exploitation still exist today just in different forms and are more profitable than ever. They never went away. Again, why would child prgan cartels exist if they didn't have clients and rich ones indeed. Someone is clearly benefited from all this.
The movie snowpiercer is a perfect metaphor for the current state of the world and the exploitation of the poor masses from the few. Even more so than the movie matrix was

Yes, damn all rich people! They must be buying the organs of innocent children because you say they are! They're evil!

This is my last post to you on the subject. Your sensationalism and pessimism of a world you know so little about is infuriating, not to mention exhausting.

^^All the proof you need is in snowpiercer :o
U should definitely watch it. :cwink:

Alex even by your standards thats some crazy **** youre talking. Unless youve got some proof Im gonna have to call BS on the rich harvesting children like cattle.

lol. We can never know unless we become rich one day :o

Id like to clarify that when I say "rich people" I obviously mean more of the likes of the Vatican, not your average joe who owns a somewhat profitable local business but holds no control whatsoever over the masses.

I suppose they would want child organs for their own children.
Even worse they might like the taste of cooked children. Am I supposed to believe that the Catholic priests for example that molested young boys were strictly on pedophilia?
Whos to say they didn't also eat children?

The bottom line is there are disgusting crimes taking place every day and the rich countries who have the power to put an end once and for all, dont give a damn cause theres profit in human exploitation and provides cheap labor for the western world and the police can never protect us from.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you actually being serious? This sounds like major trolling from you.

Trolling? So, you re telling me that all those kids that go missing all around the world and especially from poor families, there's not a single chance that some powerful perverted circles eat them? We already use children for organ trafficking, cheap labor in sweatshops, sexual objectification etc. Is it that far fetched to think that some twisted minds out there who got power and money like their taste also?

Please. You can ridicule me all you want or accuse me of trolling cause i have the nerve to speak out things that are plain obvious. If you want to have an innocent and oversimplified view of the world and especially of those in power who control our lives its your right to do so, but calling me a psycho or troll is not getting us anywhere.

Conspiracy theories are fun.
