The lack or promotion worries me.. a movie like this should be marketed at least a year in advance. You have to create hype waaay early!

Not always. sometimes if you catch people off guard you may get a much greater burst of hype.

Look at Logan for example no one cared about that movie until the first teaser came out and then people started taking notice.
